Audronė Kaušpėdienė ( born May 27, 1953, in Radviliškis, Lithuania) – Lithuanian architect, interior designer, public figure. Member of the Board of the Lithuanian Union of Architects, the Santara Light Community and the Kaunas Branch of the Lithuanian Union of Architects.
Biography
[edit]1976 graduated from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. Started career 1976-1980 at Institute of Industrial Construction Design.1980-1993 Architect at Kaunas Institute of Public Utility Design. Established architecture design company "Jungtinės pajėgos" in 1994 in Kaunas. Designs mainly public objects and public use interiors. Architects working in the studio: Arunas Kavaliauskas, Mindaugas Skrupskelis, Ruta Dambrauskaitė, Virginija Rimkiene, Ramune Dambrauskiene, Gintautas Kažemėkas.
Was married to Algirdas Kauspedas and had two daughters.
Public figure
[edit]Actively involved in Lithuanian Independence Restoration, Sajudis movement. Together with her colleagues, she established a conspiracy room where ideas were exchanged and music resistance project Antis debuted. Activity eventually led to the „Rock marches movement in Lithuania.
Audronė Kaušpėdienė belongs to the generation of Kaunas architects who had significantly contributed to the freedom of Lithuania. June 10 th 1988 the initiative group of Kaunas Sąjūdis has been established in the first floor hall of the House of Architects. Audra continued to operate in this building even after the restoration of Lithuania's independence. She led the architecture design company "Jungtinės pajėgos" until the global financial crisis in 2008.
Currently retired from design activities and engaged in social initiatives, architectural education activities. Ambassador of Kaunas 2022 European Capital of Culture.
