Dr. Belisa Vranich (28 April 1966) is a renowned US clinical psychologist, author, public speaker, and founder of The Breathing Class (TM). A regular guest on national television, she has been interviewed by Anderson Cooper, Soledad O’Brien, Joy Behar, Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Juju Chang, Bill O’Reilly, Nancy Grace, Alisyn Camerota. Dr. Belisa makes regular appearances on national television including CNN, Fox News, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Inside Edition and VH1. A nationally recognized lecturer and media personality, she has been interviewed as an expert in numerous publications, including The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Cosmopolitan, Spin, AARP, Seventeen, Good Housekeeping, and Parenting.

With fifteen years of private practice, Dr. Belisa is a leading expert in topics from health and fitness, stress reduction, and nutrition, to sex and relationships, to trauma and addiction. Previously the Director of Public Education at the Mental Health Association of NYC, Dr. Belisa has also consulted for the National Mental Health Association in Washington DC, was a school psychologist in the South Bronx, and has worked with parolees and their families as part of the Brooklyn Aids Task Force.

The Breathing Class

Dr. Belisa is the founder of The Breathing Class™ and teaches and lectures nationwide on topics related to dysfunctional breathing patterns and stress. The Breathing Class addresses physical and psychological problems related to better oxygenation by teaching people anatomically congruous breathing techniques. Dr. Belisa has taught numerous workshops on breathwork, (e.g., The Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck NY, and to staff and clinicians at the San Diego Marine Base) and regularly works with corporations and hospitals throughout the US. Dr. Belisa is currently an advisor for Shape magazine. Previously the health and sex editor at Men’s Fitness magazine and former advice columnist for the New York Daily News, Foxnews.com, and Spin magazine, she has also served as an advisor for the Fitness Institute for Gold’s Gym.

A public speaker in the area of health and mental health, Dr. Belisa has a decade of experience developing educational campaigns, presenting, and lecturing nationwide. An outspoken advocate for women’s health issues and veterans’ rights, Dr. Belisa also volunteers with several animal rescue organizations in New York City and Los Angeles.

Dr. Belisa received her doctorate in Psychology from New York University and completed an internship at Bellevue Hospital with specialization in neuropsychology, psychiatric consultation and liaison, and bilingual treatment. She is a certified Breathwork Practitioner.
