History

[edit]

TDCI was founded in 1992 as a consulting and contract programming company.

In 1998, TDCI was named by Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as the customer support organization for the MAC-PAC Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software product. In 2005, TDCI acquired exclusive world-wide rights to MAC-PAC from Accenture. MAC-PAC is the primary business system today for numerous companies throughout the United States and world – primarily manufacturers of configure-to-order products.

In 2000, TDCI established a software product development function and named Dr. Dinesh Dhamija as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The company decided to utilize Microsoft Windows technology from Microsoft Corporation as the platform for its solutions. The company then initiated development of an advanced product configurator as the foundation of its planned solution suite.

In 2001, TDCI acquired the engineering design automation software developer, Agility Corporation, to gain access to Computer Assisted Design (CAD) expertise for development of solutions that leverage 3D CAD technology in sales, manufacturing and engineering.

From 2001 through 2003, TDCI worked closely with leading manufacturers in several industries to develop and deploy the company’s initial software for product configuration, product visualization, quoting, and ordering.

In 2004, TDCI formally launched the software product that is now the core of the company’s business, the BuyDesign® Guided Selling and Configuration suite.

In 2006, TDCI formed a partnership with Infor Global Solutions (Infor) [1], the third-ranked ERP software company in the world whereby Infor would embed the BuyDesign product configurator into that company’s Infor ERP SyteLine, SX Enterprise, and e-Storefront software products. Earlier the same year, TDCI formed a partnership with Adobe [2] whereby TDCI would embed Adobe’s Scene7 On-demand Rich Media Platform into BuyDesign to provide photo-realistic product visualization capabilities.

As of the end of 2008, the company’s BuyDesign software product was being used by thousands of manufacturers’ dealers, distributors, and sales people around the world to configure, price, quote, and order numerous types of configure-to-order products. BuyDesign is used in conjunction with many different ERP systems including Infor ERP SyteLine, Infor ERP XA (MAPICS) and Infor ERP LX (BPCS); Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision); Oracle eBusiness Suite, Friedman Frontier, MAC-PAC, and others.
