Phorest (Ndevor Systems Limited) is a software company that specializes in salon software for hairdressers, spas and beauty salon owners. Phorest currently has 2 offices with 26 employees. The head office is in Dublin and the second office is located in London.
The company is the leader in the Irish market[1] and its software is used in more than 1000 salons in ten countries around the world. Phorest also provides salons and spas a loyalty system, and an online booking system called Zanadoo.
History
[edit]Phorest was founded in 2003 by Ronan Perceval and Jamie Myerscough in Dublin (Republic of Ireland). It was spun out of another software company called Demonware[2]. They first designed and developed a simple messenger application “Phorest Messenger” that they began to offer for sale in Ireland. In 2004, Ronan Perceval was named runner up in the Coca Cola Young Entrepreneur in Dublin.
By May 2005, the company had 100 clients and in June acquired their largest competitor, Stylebase, who had built up a client base of 170 over six years[3]. Then, Phorest launched a computer system (Memento 5) to run a salon’s management and administrative tasks, freeing up the owner’s time, thereby allowing them to concentrate on other areas of their business. Following the creation of a new version of the software in 2006 (Memento 6), Phorest released its own loyalty system in 2007 called the “Client Loyalty Matrix”.
The latest product offered on sale by the company is an online booking system called Zanadoo that is the largest of its kind in the UK and Ireland. In 2009, Phorest won the IBPA Best Training Award which was the first time a technology company had won a Training Award in the Beauty sector in the UK and Ireland.

This product is first used by salons and spas because it facilitates their daily management. The system has an application which allows the receptionist in the salon to manage all the appointments and staff schedules too. It also acts as a point of sale and is used for payments, vouchers, discounts and end-of-day. It provides clients records which are used by salons and spas to offer their customers specialized deals. At an administrative level, Memento is a stock control centre and allows the user to do stock takes, email orders to suppliers, and manage retail and professional stock items.
