Kim Lembo (Born, June 28, 1966, Syracuse NY) is an American-raised singer/songwriter known for playing blues and roots music. Lembo now resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

“One can hear traces of Etta James, Janis Joplin, and even Billie Holiday here and there, but Lembo seems to have her own approach and style. She can growl, purr, shout, and testify with the best of them. Kim Lembo doesn’t screw around. She just sings her tush off. I’m in love again. [1]

"Janis Joplin was one of the first modern divas. The divas that dominate today’s music scene owe a considerable debt of gratitude to Joplin. She opened the door for such acts as Madonna, Britney Spears, Melissa Etheridge, Alannah Myles, Bonnie Tyler, Cindy Bullens, Kim Carnes, Courtney Love, Ashley Cleveland, Marylin Scott, Kim Lembo and Joan Osborne, to name a few." [2]

Known for her breakout album “Blue Heat” in 1995, Lembo recorded the album along with 3 others on Blue Wave Records, an indie label located in Central NY. She has also recorded with Sky Ranch Records, a French subsidy of Virgin. Blue Wave Records was known for releasing work from legendary artists such as Eric Burdon, Kim Simmonds & Savoy Brown, Cub Koda, and Sean Costello. In the 1990’s, Lembo was hailed as a true original as well as a vintage throwback to a 60’s sound.

In the 2000’s, Lembo moved to San Francisco and took a hiatus from music. In 2015, she returned to the stage with her album, “45 Miles”. A departure from the heavy blues rock and soul of the 90’s, “45 Miles” was a personal album with soulful, calmer sounds and a little country blues thrown in. The album was written and co-produced by Lembo with producer Gawain Mathews guiding the project and playing multiple instruments throughout.

Currently, Kim Lembo is working on a 6th album to be released in 2019. She also runs the podcast “Grab ‘Em By the Songs”, featuring women songwriters telling their stories.
