Katharina Hartmuth (born July 13, 1995) is a German ultramarathon runner living in Switzerland.
Katharina Hartmuth came to trail running via sport climbing. She ran her first running competition in 2016. In 2018, she won the women's classification at both the Swiss Alps 100 over 100 km and the Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival over 65 km and came third in the Eiger Ultra Trail over 35 km. She then took a break due to injury, but returned to running via triathlon in 2020. At that time, she had no sponsor support, but is now sponsored by Hoka One One.
In 2022, she won the 101 km Eiger Ultra Trail, eight years earlier she was still a volunteer at this trail event.
Hartmuth took part in the 2023 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Innsbruck-Stubai and won silver in the individual and team rankings in the Trail Long (together with Rosanna Buchauer and Ida-Sophie Hegemann).[1]
She has also been competing in triathlons since 2017. At the end of June 2023, just two weeks after her participation in the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships, she competed in her first long-distance triathlon at Challenge Roth, finishing after 9 hours and 39 minutes.
At the beginning of September 2023, she competed for the first time in the 170 km UTMB distance at the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc and finished second behind Courtney Dauwalter.[2]
In 2024, she finished third at Hardrock 100.[3]
