Steve Ellmore

Stephen DeWitt Ellmore (IPA: /el-mʊər/, respell: ELMOOR; born August 2, 1970) is an American documentary filmmaker and Air Force veteran best known for his 2019 documentary, Unprescribed.

Early Life

Ellmore was born in Harbor City, California, and raised in Garden Grove by parents Janet Ellmore, a school teacher, and Dennis Ellmore, a graphic artist and photographer. He received his first SLR Camera as a gift from his father at the age of 12, and began taking photography classes in junior high, where he learned to develop images in the darkroom. He continued to study photography through high school and college.

During his senior year in high school, Ellmore participated in his school's Regional Occupation Program (ROP), where televison production was taught by the local cable company. During this period he developed a passion for linear editing.
