User:Shelbisims619

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shelbisims619 is the Wikipedia username for Shelbi Sims, a freshman at Georgia Southern University. She has traveled three hours south from her home town Peachtree City, GA to attend school in Statesboro, GA. She is overwhelmed with a whole new world away from home, but she is trying to keep her grades up and her schedule balanced while still having a fun four years. Although Georgia Southern is not an Ivy League school, classes are still difficult and require quite a bit of studying. This users' father will kill her if she does not maintain a 3.0 GPA to receive the HOPE Scholarship (a Georgia based merit scholarship). The goal is very much attainable, but the college world has many distractions, especially when seventy-five percent of all freshman students lose HOPE after their first year. Hopefully, she will be in that twenty-five percent! Her major is Business and one day she hopes to open up her own clothing boutique.

Works on Wikipedia

[edit]
  • This user began her adventure on Wikipedia with the notable expansion of the stub Benn Fraker. She believed the stub did not fully credit the notability of the Olympian athlete. It had a measly one sentence. This user had no trouble with deletion or pesky Wikipedians.
  • One more substantial edit was Terry Bouricius, where this user added "He is particularly known for his advocacy for instant runoff voting, and now is the senior policy analyst for FairVote, a nonprofit organization that works to reform voting issues" to clarify his notability. Another edit was to Jay Messina, where this user added "He started out recording sessions for legendary arranger Don Ellion and quickly promoted to A&R Recording."

Doesn't Go Anywhere Without Her Computer, Droid, iPod, or GPS

[edit]

The 21st century is centered around technology and this user embraces it. Although it takes her mom thirty minutes to send a text, it is far different for this user. She is quite skilled with technology and likes to learn and use it as much as she can. Her droid has internet and apps on it, so she can be connected at all times, especially to Facebook. She is quite bias to Mac and recommends it to anyone. They are quite weird to get use to, but so worth it once you get the hang of it. Technology is continuously changing and getting more confusing, but she tries her best to keep up and learn new things.

Wikipedia Would Be a Nicer Place If...

[edit]
  • There weren't people that sat on Wikipedia all day and deleted articles that users worked hard on
  • Coding wasn't so confusing
  • The original research rule didn't exist because my research is better than some on the internet

Thoughts on Wikipedia

[edit]

Wikipedia is a great resource to use for quick knowledge on a subject. But of course, this is not information she is going to risk her life on. Before writing an article on Wikipedia, she was unaware of all the provisions and protections it has. It requires information that is cited, and all articles are subject to deletion. However, because of the amount of information on Wikipedia, it is impossible to regulate all the submissions and corrections made to articles. Through all this, Wikipedia is a wonderful resource, and she uses it as a daily resource. Thank you to all the people who try to make it a better place.

Does Spanish Two Count?

[edit]

This user is a native speaker of American English. In highschool, she took two years of Spanish, which qualifies her to have maybe a two and a half minute conversation in Spanish. Hopefully, in the near future she will be able to continue her studies in Spanish.

Animal Lover

[edit]

This user has grown up with animals all her life. When she turned one, she got a puppy Beagle named Clark. He and his sister Lois were named after the Superman characters. Clark lived until last summer where he died from old age at the age of seventeen. RIP. This user also had a cat named Faith who was a little psychotic, but was loved (kinda) anyways. Now as this user ventures to college, she still NEEDS to have a pet, so her and her roommates went to Petco to get the only allowed animal, a fish.

This user loves Beagles.
