RemIT

Operating systemWindows
TypeRemote Administration Software
LicenseGPL
Websitewww.remit.smknet.com.pl

RemIT allows IT support to directly access any Windows running computer via Internet, independent of any blocking devices between the IT workstation and the supported computer. The only true requirement is for both parties to be able to connect to the Internet (NAT is supported). The rest is taken care of by RemIT application in the background. RemIT is really simple and can be used by people with very limited computer knowledge.

Technology

[edit]

RemIT is based on a few well-known technologies, like the RFB protocol, and right now is mainly based on TigerVNC implementation. Behind the scenes there are OpenSSH tunnels that interconnect both computers using an intermediate server reachable by both on the Internet. As it is available based on GPL, you can download the source code to improve and contribute.
