Celisse Henderson is a queer singer/songwriter/actress based in New York. Celisse grew up in a very musical household and that inspired her to chase her artistic dreams from a young age.[1] As a child, she would walk up to the front of the church and grab the microphone despite her mother's, the choir director, ire. The pastor simply said, "Let the baby sing." [2] Henderson starred in the national tour of the Broadway show Wicked. She recently has starred in the revival of Godspell at the Circle in the Square Theater and Bridgett Everett's Rock Bottom at the Public Theater. Henderson has released an EP titled Show and Tell and two collections of music, Live at Rockwood Music Hall and Nashville Demos. [3]

Celisse Henderson was raised in Oakland, California in a very musical household. [2] Henderson got her musical start in church from a young age. According to her biography on her website, "As a child, Henderson would defy her mother, the choir director at their church in Oakland, and toddle up to the front of the congregation right up to the microphone. Despite the elder Henderson’s efforts, baby Celisse held on tight. And the pastor simply said, “let the baby sing.” Henderson began training on the violin at the age of two.
