Heather Stern uses the online moniker "Starshine". It's also my business name. However, at the moment I'm gainfully employed at work I enjoy.

Quotes worth quoting
  • Be true to your own highest convictions -- Channing

Thoughts of the season

[edit]

Looking into how to use these "user override" style skins decently.

[edit]
GreyLady override
intended via browser side "user css" and an FF/moz add-on called stylist.

Succeeds, but only looks good on plain pages. The Talk page for the color blindess page linked below looked absolutely wretched as columnar items broke down.

MonoClassic override
intended to override Classic skin, not Monobook.
  • set Classic skin in preferences
  • spill MonoClassic text into /standard.css

Succeeds admirably, including on complex pages like the ones below.

With the tuning up I've done it looks like I could enjoy using this one for the long haul.

I should try messing with font sizes via the browser, or visit this from other browsers.

Stale thoughts

[edit]

from WP past days

[edit]

why I actually created an account

[edit]

There's these great articles about batteries. At the time I first looked for some of them they were so huge and intermingled as to which article among the types contained what I can only call primary content, it was clear they'd come from different minds.

I've been too busy with workday life to really dive into fixing them to look and feel consistent. But the thought was there.

skins

[edit]

There are times of day when paper white and I simply do not get along. I can cheat and just uncheck the box saying "let a page do its own colors and fonts" - but ... that's overkill. By creating an account I could set preferences.

Calling a dark teal skin "amethyst" surely proves that someone out there has red-green Color blindness. It's sad that there's only one dark skin available, though.
