Garkon is a village in northeastern part of kargil district of jammu and kashmir state in northern India, situated on the banks of the river Indus also identified as Ancient river of lost Indus valley civilisation, located about 65 km from Kargil and 165 km from Leh. It is the administrative block of kargil District. The village was once called Dharkon (alternatively spelled Garkon). It remained in the control ofSkardo clan and later occupied by king of leh.

The location is famously known as the Aryan valley who preserve thier genes from other tribe. Many of philosophers research about the history people's of the valley. Some say they were decendence of Alexander the Great. Because his some lost soldiers were settle there. On the pure race of the people there are a Documentary movie about their pure gene known as The Aryan Saga.
