«Avrora» Russian: Аврора — High Speed Branded train №741/742, 743/744 (until 2010 — №159А/160А) from Moscow to St. Petersburg Oktyabrskaya Railway. Beginning service until 1984 (1985 on other information) train had №9-10. Was running between two capitals since 12th June 1963 until 4th April 2010. At the end of 2009 it was replaced by new High Speed train «Sapsan». Also on this route since 2001 a similar high speed train «Nevsky Express» is operating. In 1984—2009 there was ER200 High Speed train. Since 19th December 2024 this train will run once again, but this time train will be formed of Double-decker cars.
Train statics
[edit]The first ride of «Avrora» train was on 12th June 1963. ChS2 under control of Train driver Э. П. Сахарова and Driver assistant А. И. Захарова. The trip from Leningrad to Moscow was done within 5 hours and 27 minutes. On 1965 the experimental trips took place, during which the minimum travel time was achieved: 4 hours and 59 minutes. On 1970 by extending the length of train time of trip was slowed almost to 7 hours in 1979. Since ChS6 entering in service the time was shorted to 5 hours 30 minutes.
