CheckUser
[edit]- Oppose for East718 - I have had the privilege of working with East718 for a substantial period of time, and have come to value his opinion. East718 is a capable user who has the knowledge base to successfully use the tool; and for that I regret that I must oppose. Currently, one of the biggest issues is the lack of available Checkusers and the time lag between when a CheckUser request is filled and when a check is performed. While East’s edits are strong, productive, and intelligent, they are not frequent enough for me to support granting him Checkuser rights.
- Oppose for Kingturtle - There is no doubt in my mind that Kingturtle has the best interest of the project in mind, and that he truly wants to help. With that in mind I am not confident he has the knowledge base to successfully operate the tool. Other than the specific sock cases he listed above in his statement, he has done little in regards to "CheckUser related work", and at times requires assistance from clerks or other Checkusers. [1], opening a case without evidence (mind you the sockpuppetry is rather obvious), another case without any evidence, and confusion on how to handle a sock case. While I understand these are not big issues, I worry that while coupled with a lack of experience in CheckUser related areas they paint a picture of a lack of understanding on how the tool works.
- Oppose for Kylu - Regrettably I must oppose, Kylu's activity levels are far too low.
- Support for Lucasbfr - Lucasbfr has shown the levelheadedness needed to make sensible decisions. As stated in his statement he posses technical skills that will be put to great use, and ultimately benefit the community and other Checkusers. By serving as a Checkuser clerk for over a year, he has shown that he has the knowledge base required of Checkusers and is aware of the many processes, policies, and common practices surrounding the tool. Overall, I feel that granting Lucas the tools would be a net positive.
- Oppose for NawlinWiki - There is no doubt in my mind that NawlinWiki is an extremely active administrator who has dedicated much of his/her time to sockpuppet work. Unfortunately, some of the ways they has gone about doing so have been disruptive and have resulted in multiple warnings from multiple administrators (diffs upon request).
- Support for Versageek - While I have had no prior interactions with Versageek, after reviewing his/her contribs and his/her statement it is obvious that Versageek already posses the skills to operate the tool, and I feel it would be a net positive to grant Versageek CheckUser rights.
Oversight
[edit]- Oppose for Dweller - No real comments, other than the fact that he never wrote his nomination statement.
- Support for Lar - In my time here at en.Wikipedia, there have always been users who's voices were of reason and Lar happens to be one of them. Lar has already proven his ability to work with sensitive information, and has gained the communities trust throughout a number of Wikimedia projects. There is no reason to believe he would misplace it now.
- Support for MBisanz - While other candidates have not proven a need for Oversight, MBisanz has. During his year(s) here, he has been responsible for dealing with multiple cases involving the removal of personal information. He has done so within policy, in a fashion that benefits both the community and the person who's personal information has revealed. I also have no doubt in my mind that MBisanz would do his part in ensuring that checks and balances are in place, and would not hesitate to contact the Arbitration committee should the tool be abused.
