Anthony Vincent "Tony" Merz (born June 28, 1982) is an American guitarist, singer-songwriter, recording artist, and music producer. Born in Palmer, Alaska, and raised in Delta Jct, Alaska, his father worked for the military before moving to Jacksonville, Florida where he refined his skills, toured regionally and gained a following with his acoustic duo Williams & Merz. Merz started writing his own songs and won the BMI Amelia Island Songwriting competition. His first studio album, "Why I Hold You" was written recorded and produced by Merz. This sparked interest from many industry giants including David Foster. Merz moved to Nashville to continue pursuing his musical endeavors. Merz began his career performing mainly acoustic pop and rock, but gradually began a transition towards the an acoustic blues & classic genre in 2010 by collaborating with other artists in his hometown and in Nashville,TN. He is planning on releasing his second studio album also written recorded and produced by himself in the fall of 2013. Merz's career pursuits have extended to musical engineering, electrical engineering, producing and audio mixing. He has spent the last few years in Nashville helping other artists get their songs recorded, mixed and mastered.
