WUMN has the distinction of being the only Spanish-language television station in the Twin Cities market, and is the only Univision network affiliate in the state of Minnesota.
WUMN-LP is the Univision-affiliated television station for the Minneapolis – St. Paul metropolitan area and is licensed to Minnesota. It broadcasts a low-power analog signal on channel 13 from a transmitter located on the Campbell Mithun building in Downtown Minneapolis. Owned by SP Television LLC.
WUMN-LP maintains studios located on 527 Marquette Avenue, Minneapolis. This station can also be seen on Comcast channel 99, Mediacom channel 23, and J Charter channel 42, 63 and 71.
WUMN began its broadcasting operation in 2005 as a low-powered station. In January 2005, after Equity Media Holdings's purchase of channel 13, the station was re-called WUMN-LP, to reflect its new Univision affiliation. WUMN was sold to Silver Point Finance on June 2, 2009. The sale closed on August 17, 2009.
