Punk Bunny is a Los Angeles based electroclash band consisting of sole member Gil Morgan (better known as Luigi). His music is notable for its extreme sexual content, gay cultural references and incorporating unusual elements in his live performances such as drag-queens and outrageous costumes. In the early-mid 2000’s he garnered a substantial cult following in the burgeoning Los Angeles electro clash scene, sharing the stage with artists such as Electrocute, Peaches, Debbie Harry, Freezepop, Blowfly, Hawnay Troof and Avenue D to name a few. His music has been remixed by notable electroclash musicians such as Electrosexual. His music has been featured in pornographic independent films such as Atomic Vixens 2005 as well RingMyBell.TV

Early Life

[edit]

Gil Morgan (born May 18, 1973) aka Luigi was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. In high school he studied music and drama, and played in the Drumline. In 1988, while just 14 years old, he started his first band called The Jokers. After The Jokers disbanded in 1989, he participated in 4 other bands from 1994-2002.

Punk Bunny

[edit]

In 2003, after being heavily influenced by Peaches debut album "The Teaches Of Peaches", he and his sister Sally Morgan (better known as Back Alley Sally) decided to create an electronic outfit called Punk Bunny. They played their first live show on Feb 6, 2004 at The Gauntlet, a gay leather bar in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles. In 2006, he made an appearance on The Jack E Jett Show. Electrosexual commissioned a remix for the underground hit Next Caller in 2006. After being contacted by Vans to play select California dates on the 2005 and 2006 Warped Tour, Sally left the band. In 2006, now a solo act, Luigi released the album entitled “A Hole Is A Hole!!!” while still using the Punk Bunny moniker and embarked on the Calling All Whores tour, his first national tour. In 2007, he was signed to European label DFA Records, and performed on spanish television show Radio 3 TVE. He has done various interviews and performances on notable radio stations such as KXLU Los Angeles. In 2008, Luigi created his own independent record label called Bunny Hole Records and in 2008 released his album entitled “My Secret Garden”. During promotion and touring for this album, Luigi recruited a new lineup of back-up dancers and released his studio album “Mucho Muchacho” in 2009 on the Bunny Hole Records imprint. During promotion of this album, Luigi met a fairly unknown San Diego electro artist named Michael Edwards (better known as Black Barbie) and quickly signed him to Bunny Hole Records as well as assuming the role of his manager. After doing a national tour in promotion of Mucho Muchacho, Luigi released a retrospective album of Punk Bunny’s demo’s and unreleased tracks called “Live, Raw, and Uncut” in 2010. In 2011 he will be embarking on his 2nd European tour with Black Barbie.
