History

[edit]

On September 11, 2000, Fortis Riders launched in Nathan Foy's Atlanta apartment. After two years of attempts to break into the transportation market, in 2002 the company's 1st corporate client was secured. Between 2002 to 2008, the company experienced 50% year over year growth primarily through word-of-mouth referrals and via an emphasis on service and technology.[1] In 2008, the financial crisis significantly impacted Fortis Riders, but in the following years, the company again saw substantial year-over-year growth.[2] The growth rate of the company has qualified Fortis Riders for the Inc 5000 listing of fastest-growing US companies in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.[3][4][5] In 2012, Fortis Riders launched it's Hong Kong office in order to expand the company's Asian reach. In 2013 the company also made industry news by upholding luxury vehicle standards in US markets as the livery-standard Lincoln Towncar ceased production.[6]

Innovations

[edit]

In 2005, Fortis Riders began comprehensive real-time email notifications to their clients when chauffeurs arrived on location and when they picked up the passenger. In 2008, an additional notification was added when the vehicle was headed back to a private jet. Along with this, Fortis Riders began sending all relevant notifications to the cockpits of private jets. In 2009, the company rolled out a comprehensive chauffeur tracking plan to ensure the quality of chauffeurs for their clients, and a high-speed online booking tool.[7]
