Wilfrid Ewart Oulton, DSO, DFC, CBE was an officer in the Royal Air Force. He served from July 1931 to January 1961 and achieved the rank of Air Vice Marshal . During World War II while serving in Coastal Command he was credited with sinking three German U-Boats including German submarine U-463 . Later in his career he was the Officer Commanding of the British Nuclear tests in the Pacific Ocean under Operation Grapple
