FANZA (ファンザ) is a Japanese e-commerce site operated and trademarked by Digital Commerce Inc. (株式会社デジタルコマース). Digital Commerce Inc. was founded December 26, 2017 and is headquartered in Minato, Tokyo.[1]
Overview
[edit]The "FAN" part of "FANZA" came from "FANtasy" in English, while "ZA" has two meanings: "From Z to A", similar to Amazon's "A to Z", and the kanji 座 (za), meaning a cinema, platform, or a trade guild.[2] The name was commissioned from the New York-based brand design company COLLINS[3] with the goal of creating a branding that could be easily understood in English-speaking markets while conveying its association to the Japanese adult entertainment industry[4].
