The word "luck" is the common wording for randomness, stochasticity, or chance in games. Luck has a naturalistic interpretation (hover over the link to see).

Further on in the Royal Game of Ur article, the game is described as a "race game". Navigating to the page for race game one will again see "luck" is the term used.

More generally, the Royal Game of Ur is a board game. Navigating to the board game page one can again see "luck" is used 10 times, "chance" 4 times, but "random chance" not at all.

So using the word "luck" seems consistent with other linked articles in Wikipedia.

One last point. The word "luck" is used further down in the page for Royal Game of Ur. Using it at the beginning of the article thus seems internally consistent too.

Yes I see the consistency re article Board game. For me, the two words aren't exact synonyms -- a game can't consist of "luck", that can only apply to the player playing (i.e. the application of chance results in good or bad luck to or for the player re winning or losing). "Tom has luck when it comes to games having elements of chance." But I'm no lexicographer. ;) Cheers. p.s.
