Why have a reference that has a website, where picking it just leads to a 404 error?

Information icon Hello, I'm Zachary Schr. I noticed that you recently removed content from Minnesota Renaissance Festival without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

No, I DID explain why...the reference contains a link to a website that doesn't exist. You just get a 404 error. So why have it? The reference does not support the claim. To make the article more accurate, that reference should be deleted. It's useless junk and the claim can't be verified.

As mentioned, link was available on Wayback Machine and could have been added instead of deleting sources. You can read how to restore dead links on wikipedia citations at Help:Using the Wayback Machine should you run into this in the future. Additionally, the format for replying to wikipedia Talk pages can be found at Help:Talk pages, without indentations they can become hard to read. FiberTech (talk) 03:13, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
