Stop icon with clock
Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as done at Typhoon Yagi.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ad Orientem (talk) 05:32, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a shared IP address and you are an uninvolved editor with a registered account, you may continue to edit by logging in.
@Ad Orientem: Edgar has never stated what exactly he/she disagrees and has been making rapid edits which lead to frequent edit conflicts. It has been impossible to follow. 219.79.208.64 (talk) 05:34, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will unblock you, if you agree to go to the article talk page and discuss this with HurricaneEdgar. -Ad Orientem (talk) 05:37, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Please warn Edgar not to make any wholesale reverts and to be specific in the talk page or edit summaries. No one understands what and why he's been reverting again and again, and reverting many editor's changes in one go. 219.79.208.64 (talk) 05:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@HurricaneEdgar Please take note of the above concerns and discuss your issues. Edit warring is rarely a one way street.
@219.79.208.64 I am going to unblock you directly. On a side note, you may find it helpful to sign up for a WP:ACCOUNT. There are a lot of advantages. -Ad Orientem (talk) 05:43, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey IP user, I encourage you to discuss this issue on the talk page. Additionally, the metric for the peak intensity is incorrect. It should be 260 km/h (160 mph) and also the JTWC is not using PHT; they use UTC. HurricaneEdgar 05:44, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@219.79.208.64 You have been unblocked. Happy editing. -Ad Orientem (talk) 05:45, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, I would like to discuss your issue here, despite your being WP:IDHT

  • Your change to "540 km (330 mi; 290 nmi)" should follow the original practice and be "540 km (330 mi)".
  • You changed "At 03:00 UTC that day" to "At 03:00 UTC (11:00 PHT)." The JTWC uses UTC time, not PHT.
  • You listed the peak intensity as "260 km/h (160 mph; 140 kn)," but the infobox states " 260 km/h (160 mph)."
  • You mentioned, "The JMA continued to monitor the system until it was last noted at 18:00 UTC that day (01:00 in Vietnam on the following day)." The JMA uses UTC time, not Vietnam time.
  • Lastly, 17.3 miles (27.8 km; 15 nmi) It should be expressed in miles and kilometers, as the eye does not use nautical miles.

If you have many questions about the tropical cyclone article, feel free to talk to me. I'm a long-time editor on the topic of tropical cyclones. Happy editing! HurricaneEdgar 06:04, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Typhoon Yagi edit

[edit]

Why do you keep changing the link from South China to southern China? I don't want to get into an edit war, but if you're going to keep reverting, at least state a reason. ZZZ'S 12:58, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Zzzs I warned this IP user about WP:IDHT because they failed to address the issue I posted on their talk page. HurricaneEdgar 13:59, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
