McChizzle,
The SFAB page. The history goes back to 2010 during the OEF surge. Back then we were called SFAT. We were small teams that were embedded with Afghani counterparts. One officer advised, we protected the officer. A lot of teams suffered casualties, and a lot of them failed in their mission. I was part of the second wave of teams, the first were put together hastily in-country between 2010-2011.
Although our team was successful at the end of our mission and our officer stayed on after we left. I left the Army in 2013 thinking all SFAT was disbanded and that the Army considered it a failed experiment.
I was happy to see it return as SFAB and makes me proud to know I contributed to that history.
My email is mdavis4@uccs.edu if you would like any more info. I don’t know how much I could do other than point you towards a forgotten footnote.
