To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you could put a link to it on your user page.
Please remember to:
- Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes
~~~~
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this IP's talk page, and a timestamp. - Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
[edit]I noticed that you've been going to many articles which appear to be American English, and have been changing some (but not all) of the words to use British English (for example changing armor to armour).
This is not necessarily a bad thing, but in the case of most/all of the articles you are making these edits to, I would not advise it. From the articles I've seen that you've changed some of the spelling of, most of them are written in American English, so it is not necessary to change the spelling. You are advised to keep it consistent across an article. See MOS:ENGVAR for more details. The bottom line is, for consistency's sake, if you see an article that appears to be written mostly in American English or a variation of it that doesn't match up with yours, please don't change words around to match your variety. If an article is written in a certain variety but there are points in the article where words are spelled differently and inconsistently, then you can change those; but in an article where, for example, every instance of armor is spelled "armor," please don't edit it just to replace a single instance of the word with "armour." — theki talkcontribs 12:57, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
[edit]Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Loafiewa (talk) 23:37, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
