Your GA nomination of Si Una Vez
[edit]The article Si Una Vez you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Si Una Vez for things which need to be addressed. You have fixed most of the concerns, just one more, and then it is a GA. Thanks. :) MayhemMario 10:20, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well done on your GA, i hope you are happy! I hope to work with you in the future and I hoped I did a good job, please tell me on my talkpage, but for now, bye! MayhemMario 17:06, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Finished second opinion on Personal relationships of Paul McCartney
[edit]Hey, I did a 2nd opinion at your request on the GA nom for the Personal relationships of Paul McCartney. The article looks good at this point and I would recommend passing to GA. Here is my review. I feel as though you, as the initial reviewer should have the final say in whether or not the article passes. If you have questions or concerns please discuss them on the review page so we keep the entire discussion in one place. Thanks. H1nkles (talk) citius altius fortius 18:58, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for reviewing the article. I have to admit that, I didn't know what else was wrong with the article, so I didn't want to pass it without a second opinion. I'll pass the article once I re-read it, just to make sure. Thanks, AJona1992 (talk) 19:26, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

FAR
[edit]Hi AJona1992, just noting that I've removed your FAR from WP:FAR because you didn't do the initial talk-page notifications required for the process to proceed. If you are convinced that an FAR is required for that article, you should state this on the article's talk page and give interested editors a chance to respond. You might also consider an WP:RFC or another dispute-resolution step if your concerns would be better addressed by that avenue. Nikkimaria (talk) 14:10, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry but there was a discussion there, which nobody contributed to because nobody cared. Thanks, AJona1992 (talk) 19:13, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- You posted a note about your sandbox that no one responded to. However, you did not discuss the possibility of an FAR, which is required. If you want to proceed with an FAR, you must first post notification of such on the article talk and allow time for anyone who might possibly care to respond. Nikkimaria (talk) 19:22, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Have a look
[edit]I've created list for best-selling Latin albums in the United States. Selena's albums often appears, and I'm only going by RIAA certifications. If you have specified sales figures for her albums listed in the article for the US, feel free to post it with a source. In regards. Erick (talk) 23:36, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well in the United States they only go by the RIAA. I don't know any other certifications that would be in the USA that are notable. Selena's albums have appeared in Argentina, Mexico and Spain but those wouldn't count as "best selling Latin albums in the United States" rather it would be added in List of best-selling Latin albums worldwide. Are you going to focus on creating more Latin album lists? And if you need any help I'm here :) AJona1992 (talk) 00:06, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well when I presented this to Muhandes, he pointed out that it is not necessary to limit just to RIAA certifications and that if there's a source that displays a specified number of copies sold in the US, it would be acceptable. So that' when I decided to ask you, since I figured you might have Selena's sales figures in the US itself. I had intended to make a best-selling Latin albums worldwide, and probably will sometime in the future once I have enough sales figures. It was when I adding Latin certifications that I decided to start with the US itself. So, for example, if you have a reliable source that has Selena's Dreaming of You sales in the US, that would be acceptable. EDIT: Take a look at List of best-selling albums in the United States, some of the albums have a specific number sales with a source next to it. Erick (talk) 03:53, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well I don't know the exact number of copies the album has sold to date, however, I read (on a Selena fan site) that it was issued 3x Diamond, which means it had sold 30 million copies. But, I wouldn't trust a Selena fan site, but what really caught my eyes was that Selena's father was given the plaque during the unveiling of the new Latin Music Stamps that Selena was included in, earlier this year. Link here but on the RIAA site, there's no update. This is all I have lolz, and I can't add the link as a reliable source because its a fansite. AJona1992 (talk) 04:15, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Of course. Well if you ever come across a reliable source that has Selena's album sales, please feel free to add them. Erick (talk) 04:21, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Look at this here's the picture of the plaques but I don't know if it can a RS (since its on a fan site) but it is her family holding them. What do you think? AJona1992 (talk) 04:27, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Billboard has the best information when it comes to US sales. Erick (talk) 04:38, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Speaking of which I found this for Romances while searching for a RS on DOY [1] maybe it can be helpful for the article. Secondly, I can't find archives for this, unless on google books they release the most recent ones? If they do, then its not in Billboard :( I'll go and ask on the talk page of WP:RS for help on this. Thanks, AJona1992 (talk) 04:46, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

GA reviews
[edit]Hi AJona1992, I hope you don't take this the wrong way as it's good to see you helping out with GA reviews. However, one of the GA criteria is that the article is "well-written". Do you really think it's a good idea to be doing GA reviews when you have stated that you have "limited abilities in English"? How can you judge if the article is well-written? I know you have requested a second opinion on a couple, but you have performed several others on your own. As you know, WP:GAN is backlogged, so helping out there is appreciated, but I'm just concerned that you might end up making more work for others, or asking nominators to change things that shouldn't be changed. Just as one example, there's nothing wrong with "went on holiday together". Your own nominations and requests for peer reviews have shown that prose is not your strongest point (that's ok - it's the same for a lot of people!) Maybe you should leave reviewing to others who are more confident with English, and stick to improving content.--BelovedFreak 11:26, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's ok :) I just wanted to help out and I know there was a backlog that's why an editor had asked me to review GA articles on the talk page, otherwise I wouldn't have been doing reviews. I'll step down and allow professionals do it, sorry for any troubles that I may cause as I wasn't doing any of it purposely. Thanks, AJona1992 (talk) 15:18, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- That's ok, I understand you just wanted to help. :) --BelovedFreak 16:08, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- I think its a bit harsh. I know his english is not great, as I found a lot of mistakes whilst reviewing Si Una Vez, but he is willing to review articles, and not many Wikipeidans are. :) MayhemMario 16:11, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for commenting MayhemMario. I don't think I was being harsh, but see how you could maybe think that. I'm in no way devaluing AJona's effort or enthusiasm, but I've worked on reviewing several of his articles, read many more reviews involving his articles, and have read his GA reviews. Unfortunately, there have been quite a few prose problems, which AJona has been gracious enough to admit. No one is good at everything. For example, I think I'm quite ok at reviewing GA nominations, so I do that. I don't think I'm as good at reviewing FA nominations, so I don't often go there, even though I know FAC is also crying out for reviewers. It's important to stick to what we're good at. I certainly don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I assume we all want to maintain Wikipedia's integrity, right? :) --BelovedFreak 16:17, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- I definetly agree with what your saying, and i've looked through your GA reveiws, there quite impressive! I dont know if i'm good at what I do though, but I do it anyway! ;) MayhemMario 16:28, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well thanks! I'm certainly not saying I'm good at everything, but here's something to consider: we can all make all kinds of mistakes in creating content (I'm not saying we should) but when we submit articles to WP:GAN, WP:PR or WP:FAC, mistakes are picked up on and content is improved, through the input of the reviewer. If the review is substandard (not talking about AJona, just saying in general) then weaker articles may get put through that shouldn't. The review process should be acting as a filter. I didn't start reviewing GA nominations until I'd already had a few articles passed; I just didn't feel confident enough to know what I was talking about. Anyway, I don't want to drag this out on AJona's talkpage. Hopefully you get what I'm talking about! --BelovedFreak 16:35, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Say if you are reveiwing American Tragedy (album), I could just do the grammar in the article, allowing 1) we could be a team 2) you can still review GA's. Quick example if you were to reveiwe A.T (album) instead of you just being the reveiwer, we can both be, i'm not sure if this has ever been done before, just a thought, :) MayhemMario 16:11, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

- Alrighty, I'll review the article today. However, would I submit my thoughts on improvements or should I wait and tell you that I wrote down some pointers so you can review the article as well? AJona1992 (talk) 19:34, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- I put a discussion forward here You submit first but create a section for 'grammar' and just leave it blank and put 'to be done by MayhemMario 19:41, 18 July 2011 (UTC)' I think thats okay, then after i've done grammar, we both decide say on my talk page if it should be passed or not, :) Also can you not review any EastEnders related articles, as i'm not really ment to do them as i'm a member of the project. [edit]I made a few comments at your peer review on the death of Selena, but I really came by to ask whether you had easy access to the sources? I could help you with the prose and the general structure of the article, but you'd have to come up with the facts. Anyway, enjoy your vacation. Malleus Fatuorum 01:06, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Techno Cumbia
[edit]On 4 August 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Techno Cumbia, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Techno Cumbia is believed to be one of the early templates for pop-cumbia-rap fusions? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

DYK for Donde Quiera Que Estés
[edit]On 5 August 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Donde Quiera Que Estés, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that "Donde Quiera Que Estés" was recorded by Selena and the Barrio Boyzz to boost each others' fan bases in different parts of America? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Orphaned non-free image File:Selena09.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Selena09.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:51, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmm... I think this image would be perfect for the 1994/Amor Prohibido section of her article. ROBERTMFROMLI | TK/CN 04:48, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- Actually it's not necessary to use this image at all. Someone has recently uploaded free images of Selena on Wikimedia such as this one. Non-free images are only used if it is not replaceable by a free image. EDIT: Here are the free-equivalent images of Selena someone uploaded on Wikimedia. [2]. Erick (talk) 04:57, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- (a) Which is in use already in the article (see infobox), and (b) her rise to fame (Amor Prohibdo period/1994 onwards) has no pics, and (c) there are no other pics of her in the article, much less even one of her. That pic you noted is not of her, it is of her and a bandmate, which, IIRC, is not the desired type of picture for an individual. That aside, I cannot find any other pics of her on Commons (besides the one you pointed out). Only 3 come up on a search, and only that one contains her in it. Best, ROBERTMFROMLI | TK/CN 05:11, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- The second link I posted has some more (3 or more of her actually). Erick (talk) 05:13, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Awesome! I'd seen some of those just searching for "Selena" but kept seeing "Gomez" for last names of people who looked like the same person. I think one of those may be suitable. Still making my way around Commons. ROBERTMFROMLI | TK/CN 05:15, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, I think it still could be used in the article. There's only two free images though. But if there are free ones then the non-free ones can be deleted. There's already a non-free picture at the Amor Prohibido Tour. AJona1992 (talk) 15:41, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Latin Pop Airplay
[edit]Something I need to bring up, when a song has charted on the Hot Latin Songs, the Latin Pop Airplay chart should not be used as this described here. The only time the Latin Pop Airplay chart can be used is if a song did not chart the Latin Songs. The reason being that the Latin Pop Airplay is an airplay component to the Latin Songs chart. Regional Mexican and Tropical Songs are genre components so their use may vary between articles. If you need a better idea of what I'm talking about see here. Erick (talk) 23:17, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
Will be reading. Thanks :) AJona1992 (talk) 16:30, 9 August 2011 (UTC)- Well since there's verification for the peak positions on Allmusic and Rovi's websites, I think its best to remove the Latin Pop Airplay charts to the Selena songs that peaked on Hot Latin Tracks that came from the secondary sources. Thanks for this, AJona1992 (talk) 21:21, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi there, and thank you for translating that article. I wonder though if we should really leave it at "Hopscotch village" or move it to a transliterated version of the Arabic name. "Hopscotch village" sounds a bit odd given that this is a tiny Yemeni village which is otherwise not known in the English-speaking world. De728631 (talk) 16:21, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- You're welcome :) I can move it to the phonetically translation of the name. For instance Habibi ---> حَبيبي. What you think? AJona1992 (talk) 16:33, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, after lots of googling and transliterating the name I think we may safely have the page deleted per CSD A10 of Al Hijlah. Don't you think? The Hopscotch title is surely not worth saving. De728631 (talk) 20:30, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Muah besos lolz AJona1992 (talk) 17:03, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I have ADHD too, and I'm extending the block and removing access to the talk page, because unblock requests are not meant for continuing the attacks you were blocked for in the first place. SarekOfVulcan (talk) 17:10, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Your block is now indefinite. This is the second time you've been caught red-handed deceiving the community through the use of sockpuppets. Quite frankly, using a sock to push your work through a review process is such an abuse of the community's trust, that regaining it is going to be very difficult. That this is your second trip down that road, convinces me to make this an indefinite block. Sarek revoked your talk page access for that personal attack above, so please direct an appeal to either unblock-en-llists.wikimedia.org or the WP:BASC. Courcelles 17:35, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- One more note, I've reviewed the checkuser evidence myself, and your denials of operating both accounts ring entirely hollow. Courcelles 17:44, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- This is unfortunate Jona. —Mike Allen 22:45, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- The week that Sarek revoked your talk page for has come and gone, so I've reopened this page for the explicit purpose of allowing an on-wiki appeal. Attack anyone, and it will be closed off in a flash, though. Courcelles 19:46, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Selena live 1994.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Selena live 1994.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 16:45, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- I think this image should stay, at least because its the only image that we have for Selena. If this gets deleted, then there's no image for her article. Thanks, AJona1992 (talk) 21:51, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Unblock request
[edit]AJona1992 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I took a month to think about what I have done and I wouldn't want to loose my privileges to edit here. I am deeply sorry to User:Belovedfreak on the way I acted. I was extremely immature and unprofessional on the way I handled the situation. I know that I'm going to have to show that I'm wiling to help out here instead of just saying it, considering on how many times I've been blocked. Although, the first time I was not warned beforehand. But I hope that I can come back and continue to help out like I did before, besides the whole sock which I have confess of performing. I want to come back and help promote Selena-related articles to their GA and FA potentials, fight vandalism on the Bad Girls Club pages, and help out with Arabic to English translations, and wherever I am needed. Thanks, (BTW sorry for this, wrong codes lolz) User:AJona1992|UserAJona1992 Love U Selena (talk) 22:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Accept reason:
The editor has agreed to editing restrictions as follows:
- You are limited to 1 account, and only one. This means you cannot edit anonymously either.
- You may not upload images.
- You must follow WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA to the letter.
These violations are on you, the person. Any violations of the above 3 restrictions will lead to an immediate indefinite block. After 6 months you may request a loosening of these restrictions at WP:ANI. These restrictions will be logged for all administrators to view. You will also keep these restrictions on your talkpage for viewing for the duration of the restrictions. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 22:11, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Bwilkins asked me to make a statement here. As far as the personal attack that led in part to the block, I accept Ajona's apology. That is water under the bridge as far as I am concerned. I am also not aware of any off-wiki issues regarding this. It is an unfortunate way to deal with people, but I am hopeful that he has learned something through this situation.
I am more worried about the other behaviour that led to the block. He created a sock to get his own article through the GA process when he is well aware that multiple reviewers have found big problems with his work at WP:FAC, WP:GAN and WP:PR. To me, this is more of a problem than someone "losing it" and lashing out in frustration; the socking was deliberate deception, to circumvent the process of GA and get his own way. He's socked before this incident, how will we know he's not going to do it again? I've seen Ajona act courteously toward other editors and enjoy collaboration but as he seems admit on his userpage (in different words), he sometimes has an attitude that is antagonistic and aggressive when he doesn't get his own way or is frustrated. He has improved a lot over his time here in some ways, for example he seems to be far more mindful of copyright issues than he once was. His attitude however, does not seem to have changed. I know Ajona's an adult, and I don't want to patronise him, but a lot of his edits in the past have made me question his maturity. You don't have to like everyone here, just as in real life, but calling people names when they catch you breaking the rules is not really the best way to deal with things, and I hope he can see that now. I also hope that if Ajona is unblocked, some serious mentoring of some sort is considered. --BelovedFreak 12:11, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- I had created the sock to (1) upload rare Selena pictures that are not on the Internet, with this advantage no one would suspect it to be non-free (2) I had believed that since I live in Hartford, Connecticut and at the time I was vacationing in Orlando, Florida, I thought that I wouldn't get caught (3) When I was waiting for a review, I believed that my sock would help speed up the process and promote the articles. I really didn't believe I could get caught, however, I did. I am deeply sorry to have the community distrust me again. I have taken a month to think about what I have done and I am sorry to have done this. The first time I did a sock was to promote the Selena Project, however, I was also told about Jonaboy1992 (an old name I had used before I wanted to change it). I didn't know of the rule then, however, I agree that I should have been blocked for the other user I used to help promote the project. Now looking forward, I want to come back and continue to expand numerous articles as I was doing. I had expanded two articles in one day, I also had another Selena fan helping me with the Amor Prohibido page. I was teaching him the ropes of Wikipedia. I don't mind being mentored, however, Robert is the only person who stood by me. The last two came and go. I will admit, that I have some maturing to do if not a lot... however, Wikipedia is a community of people coming together to create a comprehensive site for information. Even though I was working by myself, I did worked well with others such as the GA reviews and translating articles from Arabic Wikipedians. I hope I can come back, I know that my English isn't the best even though I am a native speaker. Not everyone is perfect, and everyone has a strength... my strength is expanding Selena articles. While growing up with a family who had loved her before she was murdered and growing up with my mother who continued to play her songs, I grew to become very intelligent in Selena information. So its very easy to me to expand articles based on her. While away, I was working on several articles on the Simple Wikipedia. Thanks for accepting the apology, again it was very immature of me to do. Thanks, <font color=red>Us</font><font color=green>e</font><font color=blue>r<font color=#66FF00>AJona1992</font> [[User talk:AJona1992|<font color=maroon>Love U Selena (talk) 14:59, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- You socked because you didn't think you'd get caught? So how do we know you won't start a new account when you move or go to the library or go on vacation again? And how do we know you're not only sorry because you got caught? I appreciate you want to contribute, but your explanation is a bit disturbing. Nikkimaria (talk) 17:43, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I've had to strike part of my comment above because you clearly haven't learned anything about our copyright policies, or else just intend to keep disregarding them. You created a sock because you hoped that no one would notice you uploading non-free images and falsely claiming them to be free? Can you really not see anything wrong with that picture? You have repeatedly uploaded images and lied about their provenance in an attempt to use non-free images where there is no reasonable reason to do so. Apparently, nothing has changed there.--BelovedFreak 17:54, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- No, I was just confessing on my reasons. Now that I do know, why would I do it again? I don't want to stop editing here. I had thought that if I was somewhere else, I wouldn't. So since I did, I wouldn't do it again. Sorry if this was disturbing, was just being honest. I don't want to come back being like yea I did it, but not state why I did so. Secondly, it would be considerably easy to know if I was to sock. I only edit Selena and Bad Girls Club articles. I swear I wouldn't do it again, I'm up for anything that can prove what I am saying is true and not just a cry to come back and once everything is fine that I'll do it again. Thanks, <font color=red>Us</font><font color=green>e</font><font color=blue>r<font color=#66FF00>AJona1992</font> [[User talk:AJona1992|<font color=maroon>Love U Selena (talk) 19:45, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps I should have added "you may not nominate any articles for WP:GAN" ... your making an absolute mockery of the process, or perhaps a topic ban from anything related to Selena, broadly construed. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:26, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
- But how will that encourage me to expand articles based on her? Considering, those are the only articles I work on. AJona1992 (talk) 12:50, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
- ... and you don't see the problem with being an WP:SPA? You're also so blinded by your interest in the topic, that you percieve its importance as being greater than the community may think. In the business world this falls into the same category as WP:COI. It is your single-minded focus on all things Selena that led to you socking, you being blocked, and now you're a whisker away from a permanent ban from Wikipedia. Do you not see the dangers in this? Your request for rollback
[edit]Hi AJona1992. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! FASTILY (TALK) 21:07, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 21:08, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
