Welcome to Wikipedia, AVand! I am Otolemur crassicaudatus and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! Hello AVand.
I have notice that you revert a lot of vandalism. Have you heard of rollback before? It allows a user to revert vandalism much faster than by undo-ing it. I think you should ask for it. I am not an admin, or I would give it to you myself. I wrote this just to let you know about the existance of rollback because before someone randomly gave it to me, I did not know it existed. If you ask for it, you should have no problem getting it, as you clearly have an excellent grasp of what constitutes vandalism. Good luck, and may the vandals fail... Hello, J.delanoy and thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have just requested for this feature and am now waiting for response. I'm looking forward to working with you and the rest of the community to fight Vandalism even more efficiently. --AVand (talk) 15:18, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya - I've provisionally removed your report to WP:AIV for the above IP. It's sensible to bear in mind that the person who edited from that IP 10 days ago may not be the same person who is editing today. In addition, there hasn't been any vandalism (today) past their last warning (today). If they do persist, then feel free to relist. Thanks - and the little rhyming couplet comes free! GBT/C22:05, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clearing this up. This has been noted by me - consider this a personal error, I've been misled by several warnings regarding the same edit. AVandtalkcontribs22:09, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Just wasn't exactly used to getting those, heh. Just make sure to look at who's doing the edit. (If your tool can whitelist admins, that helps, not sure if it does though). :) Wizardman00:28, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I didn't even see that at first glance. Now I feel stupid, haha. Guess the rv was right technically after all *facepalm* Wizardman00:42, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure why my reports do not meet WP:AIV standards? I use rollback. The reason I reported the last fella was due to the fact that I was editing the Lucille Ball article and got an email from a newbie. They said the user was vandalizing and I then placed two warning and then looked at the history and found him to be on a vandlazing mission. I then reported him using the AIV format. So, I am a bit confused as to why I was contacted by yourself and another editor about my report. I do not report very often, but the ones I have reported have been blocked. So, yes I would like for you to expalin it to me if I am doing it wrong. Thank you Canyouhearmenow14:14, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...but have a little something on me, for all your hard work.
PS: AVand. Hehe. Quite the catchy name. Unless that's your REAL name and had no intention of registering a name that sounds like "anti-vandal"... 21655憎 - ταλκ
Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed unanimously with the support of 100 editors. Your kindness is very much appreciated. I look forward to using the tools you have granted me to aid the project. I would like to give special thanks to Wizardman, Black Falcon and jc37 for nominating me. — Horologium
Hehe, thanks for the proposal, but the vandalism I'm experiencing at the moment is not that heavy and is coming from only one IP. I would only RPP if I'll experience heavy vandalism from multiple IPs :) Besides, I like watching people waste their time and blocking disruptive users, so why not? :) AVandtalkcontribs00:48, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any way to be able to use huggle without having to download the .NET framework, because every single time that I try to install the program, the installation program keeps on resetting itself back to 2MB's no matter how long I wait or how many times I try. My internet also doesn't like downloading it because it downloads it incredibly slowly. Any suggestions? Cheers, Razorflame19:14, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When you installed version 2.0 of the .NET framework, did the installer have to download anything from the internet in order to install or did the setup come with the installer? If it's the second option, then I'm saved. Cheers, Razorflame19:35, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That means that the installer won't have to download anything from the internet? It will just install it without anything to do with the internet? Cheers, Razorflame19:39, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was looking for some advice if you have time to give it. I am not happy with the wording in the Culture section of this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trefforest
The way the bars are described sounds a bit dodgy / No proof. What flag can I use in future to bring this to peoples attention?
Hello AVand, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in my RfA which was passed with a final tally of 114/10/4. I'm both shocked and honoured to gain so much support from users whom I admire and trust, and I hope I can avoid breaking that backing by being the best administrator I possibly can. I will take on board the opposition's comments and I hope to improve over the coming months and years. Once again, thank you! weburiedoursecretsinthegarden20:28, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi AVand;
I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk21:45, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. :) I did a search, but I couldn't find the foreign-language wiki from which this article is taken. Since I couldn't find it, I have removed the speedy deletion template from the article. If you have had better luck locating it than I have, please feel free to place the template again. It's helpful if you can indicate the source in the tag, by filling in the source parameter. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl(talk)21:01, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
i thank your for your work, and it should be us giving you cookies! anyways these cookies taste great! did you bake these? what recipie did you use? (joking around) anyways i hope to get along with you, we could be good mates, okay see ya around :)--Kilikman (talk) 19:13, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
EDIT: dont know why that was double posted... anyways ive added my timestamp now
I have begun a new WikiProject that has a very simple goal, to improve Wikipedia by dealing with the articles tagged for copy edit, and am wondering if you are interested. *smiles* This project is not a clone of the defunct League Of Copy Editors because we will not deal with requests for review (that is currently handled by our good friends over at Peer Review).
I expect that this will be a relaxed, happy and casual WikiProject, because participants will be able to take things at their own pace and use the project page to ask other participants for help. A handful of people have already expressed interest at the proposal page, and if you're interested, feel free to sign up at the project page itself and discuss the project at its talk page.
There are now over 4000 articles needing copy edit, and very, very few people working on them, so any help, however small, is appreciated. I am in the process of getting word out about the project, so I'm pretty sure we will be in good stead to fulfill our goals.
Hey there, thanks for the reply! It's been very nice to see people steadily joining to help improve the articles here. :) -SamuelTan13:30, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
AVand, I wish to say thanks for your support in my successful request for adminship, which ended with 82 supports, 3 opposes, and 1 neutral. I will do my best to live up to your expectations. I would especially like to thank Rlevse for nominating me and Wizardman for co-nominating me. — JGHowestalk - 19 August 2008
The majority of what you reverted was not "talk you would find on a forum", but one user insulting another user, then me warning another user not to do so again. And for that reason I will have to revert your edit. I will revert your edit so that User:Jakezing sees the warning. Regard. Ijanderson (talk) 22:19, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that warnings hould be place on users pages, however in this case i believe it is in the appropriate place so that all user involved can see it. Im sure you will understand Ijanderson (talk) 22:25, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am fully aware wiki is not a forum, I have already explained my reasonings to you just earlier. I already underlined my in-appropriate comments. Regards. Ijanderson (talk) 22:35, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I do disagree, however i do not want to revert your edit due to 3RR. I want my warning their, so that all users/ parties involved can see it. Even the anonymous IP user (who wouldn't see it if i left it on his IP address as it constantly changes). I want it there to make a statement to to the abusive user not to do it again. Like i have said before my comments have been underlined. I want to gove the offending user a chance to underline his own abusive comments. Regards Ijanderson (talk) 22:43, 3 September 2008 (UTC) Ijanderson (talk) 22:43, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then. Please make sure the Admin is aware that i have not reverted more than three times and that i am fully aware of the 3RR rule. I dont want to get blocked. But i understand your point. Ijanderson (talk) 23:06, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would have handled the situation by simply asking the users to stop using Wikipedia as a forum. If they do not stop, give them another warning. If they still persist give a final warning and ask an administrator to help. If the editors continue discussing the topic after an administrator has explained things to them, a block or other restrictive measure could be in order. Really, you don't need to revert edits violating WP:FORUM, though in extreme cases one may wish to revert anyway. So the answer to your question is not to revert the user's edits, but to give them a friendly warning telling them about our policies and escalating from there as necessary. Does that clear things up? Malinaccier (talk)20:57, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm trying to improve the Territorial changes of Poland and I think I've got it sourced pretty well but I need a good copy editor to go over it. I'd do it myself but most of the grammar mistakes are my doing. Its a big article but any help would be appreciated!!!! -- Esemono (talk) 09:46, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. ɳorɑfʈ Talk!14:37, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings from the Guild of Copy EditorsJuly 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

The Guild of Copy-Editors – September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive
The Wikipedia Guild of Copy-Editors invite you to participate in the September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive will begin on 1 September at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 30 September at 23:59 (UTC). The goals for this drive are to eliminate 2008 from the queue and to reduce the backlog to fewer than 5,000 articles.
Sign-up has already begun at the September drive page, and will be open throughout the drive. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a message on the drive's talk page.
Awards and barnstars
A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants. Some are exclusive to GoCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page.
Greetings, the Wikipedia Guild of Copy-Editors invites you to participate in the November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive will begin on 1 November at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 30 November at 23:59 (UTC). The goal for this drive is to reduce the backlog by 10% (approximately 500 articles). We hope to focus our efforts on the oldest three months (January, February, and March 2009) and the newest three months (September, October, and November 2010) of articles in the queue.
Sign-up has already begun at the November drive page, and will be open throughout the drive. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a message on the drive's talk page.
A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants, some of which are exclusive to GOCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page.
Discussions are underway to elect our inaugural group of GOCE Coordinators. Guild members and Drive participants are invited to have a look at the Coordinators page and join the discussion on its associated talk page.
Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join!
Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive.
Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs {{cleanup}}, {{wikify}}, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. Thanks very much for participating in the Drive, and see you at the finish line!
Elections are currently underway for our inaugural Guild coordinators. The voting period will run for 14 days: 00:01 UTC, Friday 1 December – 23:59 UTC, Tuesday 14 December. All GOCE members in good standing, as well as past participants of any of the Guild's Backlog elimination drives, are eligible to vote. There are six candidates vying for four positions. The candidate with the highest number of votes will become the Lead Coordinator, therefore, your vote really matters! Cast your vote today.
We have reached the end of our fourth backlog elimination drive. Thanks to all who participated.
Stats
58 people signed up for this drive. Of these, 48 people participated in the drive.
Although we did not eliminate the months we planned to (January, February, and March 2009; and August, September, and October 2010), we did reduce the backlog by 627 articles (11.2%), which was over our goal of 10%.
If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the September 2010 backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering these barnstars within the next couple of weeks.
We have reached the end of the year, and what a year it has been! The Guild of Copy Editors was full of activity, and we achieved numerous important milestones in 2010. Read all about these in the Guild's 2010 Year-End Report.

2,589 articles removed through four Backlog elimination drives
So far, 43 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 25 have participated. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now.
Progress report
We have eliminated two months from the backlog – January and February 2009. One of our goals is to eliminate as many months as possible from the 2009 backlog. Please help us reduce the size of this part of the backlog if you haven't already. Another goal is to reduce the entire backlog by 10%, or by 515 articles. Currently, we have eliminated 375 articles from the queue, so if each participant copy edits four more articles, we will reach that goal.
Thank you for participating in the January 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success!
Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated.
Statistics
54 people signed up for the year's first Backlog elimination drive. Of these, 40 participated.
One of our goals was to reduce the size of the backlog by at least 10%. We managed to reduce the backlog by 633 articles, or about 12%.
Another goal was to eliminate as many 2009 months as possible from the queue. We eliminated January, February, March, and April—4 out of 12 months is not bad! In addition, we eliminated 37% of all remaining 2009 articles from the queue.
Chaosdruid copy edited Kutch Gurjar Kashtriya for 32,711 words, which is the largest single article completed in one of our drives so far. This article counts as six 5000-K articles, and Chaosdruid wins the "most 5000-K articles" leaderboard category. Way to go! A complete list of individual results is here.
Barnstars
If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the November 2010 Backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). The candidate with the highest number of votes will become the Lead Coordinator, therefore, your vote really matters! There is also a referendum to appoint a Coordinator Emeritus. Cast your vote today.
The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting.
This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.
We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words".
