Hi. First of all, congratulations on your new job as admin. Jennifer Hawkins has a new picture that looks like a publicity shot, but it does not have any source listed. BigBen212 16:14, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't know if you noticed it, but Pathoschild has a message at the top of his userpage inviting vandalism. So by vandalizing his page, I was merely complying with his wishes. Yeltensic42.618 don't panic 19:26, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Infrogmation image again
Hello. I made another reply at User talk:Infrogmation I'd like your input on. I'd rather like to keep Image:InfrogmationSketch.JPG (alas this scan on Wikipedia is all I have of it any more). Thanks much, -- Infrogmation 22:11, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
== Image Tagging Image:Vladimir Velebit.jpg ==
I am aware that this photo doesn't have source neither here nor on Serbian Wiki. User that uploaded it on sr: is however temporarily away on a wikibreak, so I'm afraid that I can't provide the original source myself. -- Obradović Goran (talk 18:25, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Images from Norwegian military/government
I have some time ago uploaded some images from www.mil.no without using a tag. I believe the images are available for Wikipedia, but a proper tag does not exist. Please see Image talk:Leif Welding-Olsen.jpg and Wikipedia talk:Copyrights#Norwegian defense or government images. Any help is welcome :) Inge 18:37, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Anglo-Indian image
The image is no longer in use - all the linked uses are comments etc. made by me when I was using it. Feel free to delete it. Deano (Talk) 22:00, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Tank you for fixing my userpage, I didn't know how to do it. --Melaen 01:55, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
I will eventually include an image like this on the Guardians of Time page, but it will be larger. The original large image will not be used either because when that is scaled down it is hard to see the emblem.
so for now the image can be deleted. I will remove it from the template after I write this —Preceding unsigned comment added by Htl2001 (talk • contribs)

Will to Power (band)
Why are you considering deleting the image of Will to Power? I looked on the deletion pages from Jan.9th to Jan. 19th and could not find the entry. Please write back on my page. Thanks. KogaRyuNinjutsu 06:46, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

- Dude. I am Will to Power (so much for Wikipedia anonymity)and I did not copyright that photo as it is our press/publicity shot and is public domain. I have other shots from CD Covers and articles but the one posted is our most current and I appreciate that you kept it up! Thank you. My goal is to get as many hits as Ashida Kim. Image licence
In another place you said: Image:Gibnews.jpg "Please relicense this image with in 7 days or it will be deleted per WP:FAIR and WP:CSD. --Admrboltz (T | C) 00:01, 18 January 2006 (UTC)" Its my copyright image and its licenced for use here, how do I do that ?--Gibnews 09:24, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

- OK on balance the best thing is to delete the image, I've looked at the options and short of uploading a blank image can't see how to do that - perhaps you could zap it for me ? TIA --Gibnews 21:56, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Admrboltz. I've removed the {{nosource}} tag from this image to allow the uploader, Seth Schoen, as much time as he needs to add a licensing tag. Seth took the picture himself (as stated in the description) and he is a staff expert for the Electronic Frontier Foundation on the issues of digital copyright, so I'm sure that he intended to license the image in a way acceptable to Wikipedia. I just don't want to see his image deleted because he doesn't log in for a week. Mike Dillon 03:00, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
My Photos
Thanks for the heads-up, and congrats on your new job as admin. (Congrats also on your recent graduation, as I assume you'd only use a photo on your user page if it were somewhat recent.)
The Wanda Sykes photo, as I indicated on that photo's page, is by me. That is, I took it. It even [Jeez, you just responded as I was typing this--gimme a chance! :-) ] says so in the caption under it in Sykes' article. I didn't know that a specific tag was needed if this point was already made explicit. If I give permission for Wikipedia to use my photos, which tag is the most appropriate? Thanks again. Nightscream 03:52, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Right after I left my last message, I began to read the Tags page, and it appears that the cc-by-sa-2.5 tag does seem to be the tag that most conforms to how I wish my work to be used. But when I began looking up the pages with my photos on them, I notice that on two of them, someone placed the GFDL tags. Looking through the Tags page, it describes that tag by saying, Note that non-commercial or educational use restrictions are not allowed as provisions in this tag. If I understand this correctly, does this mean that if I do not wish a visitor to download my images for use commercially, then I should not use the GFDL tag, because that wish will not be honored with that tag?
Also, the Tags page also says Note that the GFDL requires attribution. This means what, exactly? That if I use that tag, I have to make it explicitly clear that I'm the creator of the work? If so, is there a prescribed way to do this aside from writing it out as I have?
Lastly, I'm quite proud of the work I've done at WP, and the civility with which I've tried to deal with others. I'd like to be an administrator. What exactly are the responsibilities, and how does one become one?
Thanks again for your help. Nightscream 04:13, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Okay, you lost me. What do you mean when you say, in teh cc By = attribution mean?
And if all images can be used commercially, what's the difference between GFDL and cc-by-sa2.5?Nightscream 04:27, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Wireless connection userbox
Hi there! I was just passing by and saw your wireless connection userbox and thought i might add it to my collection. I just thought i should let you know that the reason the whole box is white is because the colours 'light blue' and 'light green' are not actual colours. You may want to look here for a list of colours. I also made a template for the userbox, here, and changed the colours. Feel free to change them again if you feel it will improve the look of the userbox. Thanks :)--Ali K 09:57, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Richard_Müller_(singer).jpg
This image may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Richard_Müller_(singer).jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --OrphanBot 11:44, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for giving me a note about that. Forgot to tag it! I took the pic and was new to Wiki when I first posted it. Oops! Will take a look at others and make sure that I have them all tagged GFDL... -Ajbenj
I have added the appropriate copyright license to my picture. Do I have to do anything else to get it out of Category:Images with unknown copyright status as of 23 January 2006 or will it be removed? Can I remove it myself? Cheers Blarneytherinosaur 22:59, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Greetings, Admrboltz, and thanks for letting me know about the picture problem. Sorry about the problem; it was inadvertent, and I will fix it ASAP. I'm extremely sure NASA did it (it's from the Chandra X-Ray Observatory), but just to be sure I'll be double-checking. Again, thanks for bringing this to my attention. SnoopY 00:08, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Update: I did a Google Image search and came up with two images that fit the dimensions of the one uploaded. An apparently cropped version of the same image of the nebula from SpaceRef credits the image to NASA and two other organizations; I will update accordingly. SnoopY 00:34, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Wrongful tagging of images
You have been tagging as unlicensed many of the images by one of Wikipedias best and most recognized photographers, Uwe Kils. If you had even bothered to read his comment for the image, you would have seen it is clearly marked the images as gfdl self, although he does not use the tag. These images are extremely valuable contributions to Wikipedia, and tagging them like you did IMHO shows great disrespect for the author of these images, in fact I would call it with the V-word. Please undo all these tags immediately before more harm is done! -- Egil 07:27, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

image copyright
hi. Thanks for letting me know about WeierstrassP.png. I put something in to dedicate the image to the public domain. Looking at the history, I see you put a {{pd-self}} tag in. That's perfect. I didn't know it existed (where to find information about this and other tags?).

Flag of Wessex
I note that the flag of Wessex (the Wyvern) Image:Wessex flag.gif is due to be deleted from the Wessex region page. I am confused about this and don't know why this is. I presumed that a flag is a design that is meant to be used by the public and would therefore be excempt from copyright? James Frankcom
