Image copyright problem with Image:Violotta.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Violotta.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 07:11, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Dear Tolek R., Thank you for your kind words, many of my influences have come from the Shahmai Network, take a look you might find it of interest. I'd not heard of Lise Bourbeau before but she seems interesting, why not start the page on her as the link is still red? I think Wikipedia is a great way to learn about the ideas of others and come into contact with areas that just don't get covered in normal encyclopaedias, and it's always nice to meet a like mind. Little context in Comparison of integrated development environments for Python programming language
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Comparison of integrated development environments for Python programming language, by Hertzsprung (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Hi Amakuha,
Are you sure the sulfur lamp isn't a gas-discharge lamp? The article certainly implies that it is. The lamp operates by heating sulfur until it evaporates and forms a gas plasma. From the article: "...warm-up time of the sulfur lamp is notably shorter than for other gas discharge lamps,...". Pburka (talk) 03:24, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it follows from definition of gas-discharge lamp (first sentence of the article):
- "Gas-discharge lamps are a family of artificial light sources that generate light by sending an electrical discharge through an ionized gas, i.e. a plasma."
- And from definition of a sulfur lamp (first senctence again):
- "The sulfur lamp (also sulphur lamp) is a highly efficient full-spectrum electrodeless lighting system whose light is generated by sulfur plasma that has been excited by microwave radiation."
- The fact that sulfur plasma is excited NOT by electrical discharge, but by microvawes, makes it NOT a gas-discharge lamp. Though there is a mention of possible gas-discharge variant of sulfur lamp in the "Future prospects" section of the article. --ΑΜακυχα Θ 09:09, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- On the other hand, Electrodeless lamp is in Category:Gas discharge lamps. My understanding is that the critical factor in gas-discharge lamps is that they emit light through the excitement of gas molecules. The precise manner of the excitement isn't critical to the definition. I suspect that the first paragraph of Gas-discharge lamp needs to be fixed to be somewhat more inclusive, but I'm not an expert in the subject. See [1] for a possible basis for a clearer definition. Pburka (talk) 14:01, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeap, I agree. The book seems to be more reliable source of information. The article does need to be fixed up. --ΑΜακυχα Θ 14:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Viktor Kosenko
[edit]Hello Amakuha, I've been trying to find somebody to help me finish the 'List of compositions by Viktor Kosenko' still in my sandbox after a year of work. I first contacted a Ukrainian Wikipedian, whom I had the pleasure to meet here in Prague last March, but right now she's deeply involved with the development of the Ukrainian Wikipedia. My second attempt was with another Wikipedian living in Kiev, but again she's always saying that "last week was really awful". I also tried to contact classical musicians on Facebook, including Tetyana Ivanytska who works for the Viktor Kosenko Museum, to no avail. My best chance came from a Ukrainian soprano living in Krakow who greatly assisted me with her (university) dissertation on three songs from Kosenko's Op. 7. Another Wikipedian, who worked with me on the article Viktor Kosenko, helped me with some translations to English, but what I need is to understand the meaning of Kosenko's compositions and explain them in the 'Notes' section. But that's not all, I would like to know about the songs which are not yet listed there (it is said that Kosenko wrote about 250 compositions). That is the reason that I tried to contact Tetyana Ivanytska and see if I could find more about this. I tried the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia and the National Library of Belarus which also helped find works which I didn't find anywhere else. Still, I would like to contact the Kiev Conservatory and see if I could find any information there (that seems the proper way), but I am afraid that they don't take into account my research. I would like to have your help on this work, if you can of course. If not, saying 'NO' isn't offensive and I will understand your position on this topic and thank you for your sincerity. Thanks for reading my appeal :) ! Krenakarore TK 20:31, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hello! What do you need exactly?
- There are also two musicians on the Board of Wikimedia Ukraine, who could also help: A1 and Юрій Булка. --Amakuha (talk) 21:05, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Krenakarore! It's very pleasant to hear someone in another country working with such dedication on article about Kosenko. I know some people in Kyiv Conservatory, so I can ask them to help us. It would be also great to list his songs in Ukrainian Wikipedia as well. Honestly, Ukrainian Wikipedia is quite poor in the field of Ukrainian music, as was the research in Soviet time. This is why I'm trying to get musicians and especially musicologist into Wikipedia to fix this unfair situation. I'll let you know whenever I get any information on the songs he wrote. --Yury Bulka (talk) 21:17, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you Amakuha, you couldn't have done something better by pointing me in the right direction. I would appreciate working with as many Ukrainian Wikipedians on this topic as I could find available here. Thank you !
- Yury my dear (you are in Lviv), yes Kosenko has become an obsession to me. All I want is to propel his name and compositions to the four corners of the world. I read about his life and personality, and like this I dived into his songs once there's no better way for me to understand a composer's body of work. Yes, I need someone to read the title of his compositions and make corrections (I am trying to find the best possible translation to the English language). Also I need to understand things like: 'Пісня про Тирольську трагедію' which is translated as 'Song about the Tyrol tragedy' (1936), but I don't know what this mean, what tragedy in Tyrol is Kosenko referring to ? Or: 'Пiснею про Сталiна зустрiчаймо день' (We meet the day with a song about Stalin). These are titles yet not listed in the Wikitable in my Sandbox, and some of the titles may not correspond to their respective place once I deduced where they belong to (some of Kosenko's works are parts of compositions like 'Three Pieces for Voice and Piano' or 'Eight Pieces for Male Vocal Quartet'). Also there are some writers and poets, whose work Kosenko used in his compositions, which I have never heard of. I don't know who M. Prygary, O. Golubytsky or I. Skliar is (their names came to me declinated in Polish language - "piosenka dla dziecka na fortepian, wiersze L. Zymnogo"). I would like to find out if they are listed in the English Wikipedia and link them to the explanation of Kosenko's songs and compositions in the 'Notes' section on the article I am creating, which is all that counts for me (it's the most important work I have ever encountered here). You can find some of Kosenko's works at Union Catalog Corporate Cataloging System or The National Parliamentary Library of Georgia and make comparisons with what is already listed in my Sandbox. Your mentioning about knowing some people at the Kyiv Conservatory does come in handy. Visiting the right department for a copy of his works (I have what is listed in the Muzyczna Ukraina at dropbox.com). You could also try Tetyana Ivanytska, the curator at Kosenko's Museum-Apartment - 38 (044) 280-16-a22. Only a native could do that, a foreigner like me would never be understood. Thanks a million for all help provided. Please, go check my User:Krenakarore/Sandbox first and do whatever you'd like to do there. A friend of Kosenko is my friend too ! Thanks once again you guys Krenakarore TK 22:59, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, lad. Finished up the Urania's Mirror image set, thought of you. How have things been going in the Ukraine in the last couple months? News has basically dried up here. Adam Cuerden (talk) 07:06, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll have a look, when the war ends. Basically, there's a war between insurgents supported by Russia (there's no doubt about that) and Ukrainian army with volunteer fighter units. One of Ukrainian Wikipedians died in one of those units…
- The insurgents are very well equipped with Russian anti-tank rockets (RPG-26, RPG-22), anti-tank guided missilies (Metis-M, Fagot), anti-aircraft missilies (Igla), grenade launchers (something similar to AGS-30) as well as new Kalashnikov rifles (AK-103) with grenade launchers.
- Where possible Ukraine started to use airstrikes. But everything is complicated by the fact, that the insurgents are fighting from residential quarters while residents are still there, so that army cannot use its full force.

Soviet Aviation Task Force Invitation Suggestion
[edit]Hi! I noticed you are fluent in both Russian, Ukrainian, and English and was hoping you would join the Soviet Aviation Task Force and translate some of our missing articles into English and Ukrainian from Russian. Many of the articles on the list are MAJOR plane crashes that were not covered by Soviet media at the time they happened and were not made public until decades later, when such events were no longer considered interesting enough for regular news. And the since Soviet Airforces were subject to massive purges in the Stalin era, many notable aviators who broke multiple world records or earned their nation’s highest honor were repressed, their accomplishments forgotten, and their discoveries swept under the rug. Because archival sources are nearly always in Russian and these topics are history, not news, coverage of even the deadliest, most notable, and revolutionary events of aviation only have articles on the Russian Wiki. Our goal is to change that, using the wikidata pages for those Russian articles as a “base” to start off from and expand our own wikis, providing coverage on some of the most forgotten topics that managed to hide in the Russosphere for many years. While we have made a lot of progress on the English Wiki there is still a long way to go and many other wikis still lack coverage on the extent of Soviet air disasters.
I really hope you can join our task force and assist in translating. We really need some native Russian speakers at our task force to help with translation, and you seem like a great candidate. Thank you, --PlanespotterA320 (talk) 00:53, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
If you are wondering where to start since the vastness of the backlog is a bit overwhelming, I recommend starting off with one of these:
- en:1980 Plesetsk launch pad disaster (Just recently put into English and no article in Ukrainian; dozens died and Soviet commision initially blamed crew, but later admitted issues with filters were the cause)

Hi, I just reverted you on this article. The clause you added seems to be an attempt to show that Kuhner predicted Russia's 2013 assault on Ukraine. The paragraph suggests he was right about Russia's desires but wrong about the resulting "conflagration." In any case, adding interpretation before the article even states the facts comes across as advocacy. Spike-from-NH (talk) 23:57, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
Edit warring
[edit]Your recent editing history at Glory to Ukraine shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. --207.174.219.209 (talk) 13:40, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- You add sensationalist claims from a nationalistic website into the article's header and you accuse three other people of edit warring. Good job :) Amakuha (talk) 13:45, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- I added relevant information which you are trying to remove ignoring my arguments on the discussion page and committing edit war. If you won't stop I'll report your behavior pattern to administration. --207.174.219.209 (talk) 13:49, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Wikimedia User Group Hong Kong page translations
[edit]Hi, Andriy!
I've been looking around to see if any editors are interested in making extra translations of meta:Wikimedia Community User Group Hong Kong. If you have spare time and are interested, would you like to make Russian and/or Ukrainian versions of the page? This could be useful for the Slavic expats in the region who are interested in Wikipedia.
Bear in mind that WCUGHK members would prefer to see these pages continually maintained as changes are made, so I would suggest doing so if you are interested in taking the time to do maintenance.
Anyhow, happy editing, WhisperToMe (talk) 09:39, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for July 1
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Douglas McIlroy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jon Bentley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]Please be careful to not "fix" redirects
[edit]I noticed that you quietly "fixed" a link to bypass a redirect. There's no need to do that per WP:NOTBROKEN. As always, it's always useful to supply an edit summary. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:26, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
- You are wrong based on your own rule. Please, go to WP:NOTBROKEN and read the first point of the "Good reasons to bypass redirects" (a.k.a. WP:NAVNOREDIRECT). --Amakuha (talk) 19:43, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
Best compromise to COVID-19 lead
[edit]Hi there. I note your interest in the COVID-19 lead and the issues surrounding the current edit. Please let’s clear this thing up once and for all, and reach a quick consensus if possible. I’ve included below a link for you to vote on a best compromise. Current edit as it stands is quite misleading and more damaging the longer it is up given that people will read it and freely socialise thinking that as long as nobody coughs at them then they’re all good.
This is a compromise between leaving out the ‘primarily’ which therefore mentions coughing as though it’s the only way droplets are formed (per current misleading edit), and the other side which is actually mentioning exhaling and sneezing. This way, the primary method is stated, no secondary methods stated, and the reader knows that other forms of droplet production are possible.
Please vote using the link below, thanks in advance.

Leetcode on competitive_programming
[edit]You removed leetcode from the competitive_programming article. You write that it is not mentioned, but what exactly do you mean by that? If you google leetcode, they are mentioned in credible and notable media. Furthermore, the site and its contests are fairly popular with thousands of participants for any given contest. Pseudosalacia (talk) 13:59, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Pseudosalacia: What I meant it's not widely mentioned in competitive programming context. For example, it doesn't seem to be mentioned in Olympiads in Informatics. The most credible mention is in the Programming Interviews For Dummies (2019) by John Sonmez, Eric Butow. But it seems to talk only about the interview questions.—Not precisely competitive programming. --Amakuha (talk) 14:54, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- And another argument is that LeetCode doesn't seem to draw attention of top competitive programmers, like Petr Mitrichev and Gennady Korotkevich (correct me if I'm wrong). --Amakuha (talk) 15:10, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
Face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States
[edit]Re: Covid-9 face mask entry: I added the U.S. history timeline, conflicting points of view and paragraphs under culture on discrimination, AA response and appearance of vulnerability, also Tawian. I had initially submitted a separate article, as you suggested in your talk comment, for a Wikipedia entry on "Response to COVID-19 face masks" with a focus on mask shaming, but the article was rejected for being largely duplicative of the existing entry, with an administrator suggesting I fold relevant portions of my submission into this existing article--so that's what I did with the U.S. history time-line, etc.Marcywinograd (talk) 16:36, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Marcywinograd: thanks for your contributions to the article Face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- But I meant that after your additions it pays too much attention to this issue specifically in the United States. If every other country in the world added such detailed accounts of their mask use to this article, it would be a great mess. Therefore I suggest to move most of the information in the sections "U.S. Points of View" and especially "History of U.S. response to COVID-19 face masks" into a dedicated article. It could be either a new section in the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States or it could be a whole new article, something like Face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. --Amakuha (talk) 16:59, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
Hi, yes, I had initially intended and submitted the US face mask response as a separate article, but the administrator declined the article and suggested I fold relevant portions into the existing face mask page.Marcywinograd (talk) 19:52, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
DYK for Source control (respiratory disease)
[edit]On 6 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Source control (respiratory disease), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that cloth face masks are considered source control but they are not considered personal protective equipment? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Source control (respiratory disease). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Source control (respiratory disease)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

May 2022
[edit]Hi Amakuha! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Surface-mount technology several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Surface-mount technology, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. After the first revert you are expected to take it to the talk page. You have now inserted the same material three times.. Constant314 (talk) 20:57, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- I think, in both reverts I explained well why I do a revert. In the first case, you probably missed the point: the the second "box" is very clearly a reflow oven. Second time around, you reverted my added link without adequate explanation. --Amakuha (talk) 21:05, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Are you going to discuss it on the talk page or not? Constant314 (talk) 21:08, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- If you don't mind, I'd very much prefer you to open the discussion, because you are the one who insists on removing the photo. Even though such configuration (PnP → conveyor → oven) is mentioned in the SMT article and doesn't have a better illustration. --Amakuha (talk) 21:23, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Please see WP:BRD. As the inserter of new material it is up to you to seek a consensus when your new material is reverted. Constant314 (talk) 21:35, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I don't perceive my edit as bold in any way. There was no illustration of the described PnP + oven line. I added it. In my opinion, it is your edit which is bold. Especially, considering the way you insist on it. --Amakuha (talk) 05:44, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter whether your material is bold. You added material. I reverted it. It is up to you to build a consensus to keep it. Constant314 (talk) 11:57, 28 May 2022 (UTC)

Ukrainian and/or Russian sources for French International School of Odesa?
[edit]Hi! I'm trying to find reliable secondary sources for French International School of Odesa. I found one in French, and I'm wondering if you can find others in Ukrainian and/or Russian to show notability.
Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 02:19, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hey. It's typically hard to find reliable secondary sources about high schools. But here's what I found: [10][11][12][13][14][15] – first two are local news websites. And next two are semi-official French channels. --Amakuha (talk) 14:56, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
