Orphaned fair use image (Image:Blackjack 2007.jpg)

[edit]

I think that you are being a little overzealous here - maybe you should give me a few minutes before suddenly declaring something an orphaned image - as I was just in the process of editing the page on which I was going to place the image - I think that maybe you should at least wait for 24 hours before deciding something is an orphaned image Dan arndt 00:52, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, just ran across it and didn't notice. Atropos235 00:54, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

your data

[edit]

Here are examples of the kind of graphs I can make. Is this at all like what you want? On the left is a "clean" graph without grid lines on the body of the graph. On the right there are some grid lines. Which do you like? Please let me know if you have any other preferences and suggestions. I see values for pka on the spread sheet for lab 8. Can you explain where those values came from...did your software automatically estimate the location of the inflection points? For the final graphs, do you want the plots of the derivatives below the pH plots (as on the spread sheet for lab 7) or do you want the pH and derivative on one graph (as on the spread sheet for lab 8)? --JWSchmidt 05:00, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a version with two panels. I forgot to indicate that the lower panel is on a log scale. Please provide additional suggestions/corrections. --JWSchmidt 17:06, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The necessary coefficients are given in Savitzky, A.; Goloy, M. J. E. (1964). "Smoothing and Differentiation of Data by Simplified Least Squares Procedures" Anal. Chem. 36:1527–39; along with the formal derivation. Unfortunately, I don't currently have access to a copy of this article :( The procedure is very easy to put in place once you have an Excel file of the data points. Spring damper

[edit]

Whoops. My bad. When I build up my tagging momentum, I sometimes miss image descriptions; I've re-tagged it as a 'diagram.' Thanks! MithrandirMageT 13:06, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mirages

[edit]

Hi, Atropos235, You are right it is not an inferior mirage, but it is not a superior mirage either, yet it is a mirage. It is called mock mirage. If you are interested in mirages here's the best place to learn about them:Mirages. There are many more than just inferior and superior mirages. I do not do much writing, it's hard for me to write in English, yet I wanted to show different sunset mirages.By the way you removed really unique and very special pictures that show inferior mirage of the comet. I know only about 2 pictures in the World like that. You also removed the picture, which shows a mirage of sunspot. You've also removed the animanitation, for which great mirage specialist Andy Young has written the comment. Are you really sure you're interested in Astronomy? Yet, like I said I'm not going to fight for these pictures. So I guess you could do whatever you wish. --Mbz1 02:12, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Mbz1[reply]

 • The camera was not moving - the mirage was but whatever, like I said, you could do whatever you want. I'm not going to fight. I'm more interested in taking pictures than in fighting for their display. That matter is over. Regards--Mbz1 02:48, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Mbz1[reply]

Hi, the recent edit you made to Nondestructive testing has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. PseudoOne (talk) 01:46, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your vigilance against vandalism, but I believe you are mistaken in performing this revert. I was simply removing text inserted by a user who seemed to aimlessly click the buttons on the top of the edit box. -- atropos235 (blah blah, my past) 01:50, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah sorry, I just noticed the addition of profanity. Thanks for the info :). PseudoOne (talk) 01:53, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The circle for the September 11th attacks looks too far right. Think you could update it?

Quantization error picture

[edit]
Your pic with French captions

Writing for the French wikipedia, I edited your quanterr.png to set French captions; I felt it was better to have local editions of wikipedia share information rather than make up a new picture.

However
I have done the same kind of job for the (French wikipedia) :fr:Dither (audio) page, and for this picture, quite expectedly, for dithering to blur the shape of the quantization error waveform, the quantization error must be filtered to half the sampling frequency, which I did, assuming that 1 horizontal pixel = 1 sample, with a 8th order Butterworth filter, to be rather on the safe side of the matter.

Now, shouldn't the quantization error graph be filtered also? I made a graph on the same basis as yours to see. On the one hand, filtering somewhat blurs the difference at the transition points (vertical lines), so unfiltered difference might be a little easier to understand; on the other hand, rigorously, one really should filter out the parts over half the sampling frequency.

What's your opinion on the matter?

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Strip Search (web series) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. reddogsix (talk) 01:58, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the speedy delete after adding in two reliable site that mentioned it. Remember, always go to Google news and search for something, to find references to it you can use in the article. There are also subject specific custom Google searches [1] Dream Focus 03:08, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dust 514

[edit]

Hello you've also removed one of my edits at Dust 514. I had inserted the review of Gamespot for Dust 514 under the Reception section. Looks like you accidentally undid my edit too while undoing the edits of a previous user. Since you have removed it please take responsibility and reinsert my edits. KahnJohn27 (talk) 07:19, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The only edit I see is him reverting an IP address. Check the history. Someone else must've removed your bit. Dream Focus 09:30, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

[edit]

I've realized it wasn't you who removed my edit. In actual I never even made the edit. While inserting the GameSpot score I realized that Pressed Cancel instead of Save page. Since I wasn't looking at the screen I didn't come to know about it until recently and had thought my edit was saved. It was actually my fault. Sorry for that. Custom signature fix needed

[edit]

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically formatting tags that are in the wrong order.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
 1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
 2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
 3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
 4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
 1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
 2. Change the signature as shown below, or make other edits to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
 3. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Current signature:
[very long signature not printed here]

Fixed signature:
-- atropos235 <small>(blah blah, my past)</small>

More information is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:22, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
