Please stop trying to delete stuff ive made.
[edit]Can you explain why you're trying to delete some of my stuff, such as Template:FloatingImage for example? Please let me know, im getting pretty angry that i have to deal with this all the time, and it doesn't help that i have other priorities elsewhere. Thanks!
WeaponizingArchitecture (talk) 17:09, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- WeaponizingArchitecture I can get your frustration (I've been there done that). We have a deletion policy that describes when pages can be deleted. What I did is a nomination for deletion. A nomination for deletion does not guarantee a page gets deleted, it just means that the community discusses potential problems a page has and discusses what action should be taken. If other community members decide that deletion is the best course of action, only then is a page deleted. Of course, if a page violates our speedy deletion policy, then an admin will go ahead and immediately delete the page. Deletion is reversible; requests for undeletion are for pages that were deleted either as the result of uncontroversial maintenance or proposed deletion (including deletion discussions which only have participation from the nominator). If, however, a page gets deleted as the result of an extensive deletion discussion, you may wish to raise the matter at deletion review. I hope this helps! Aasim (talk) 17:26, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Infinitescroll
[edit]Hi, great user script. I was wondering if there's an option to hide the banner. Also, where is the white square to disable it? Can't find it. 1989 (talk) 14:32, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- 1989 it is at the bottom next to the pagination. I am thinking about moving it up to the top of the contributions page as I am finding it inconvenient to have to do a bunch of scrolling to access the tools at the bottom. Aasim (talk) 17:29, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, that explains it. The script is too fast for me to reach the bottom, so moving it was wise.
- Also, is there a way to have certain scripts load with this one? I have a time convert and a mark-admin script that doesn't load with infinitescroll, causing those scripts to work only on the first page so to speak, and not the pages loaded by infinitescroll. 1989 (talk) 01:52, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- 1989 Unfortunately, for technical reasons, no. You will have to click the stop button first before you can use anything else, though it will reload the page and show you a version of the page that has no infinite scrolling enabled. Aasim (talk) 09:37, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
There's an issue where if the URL is like this (https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?target=Awesome+Aasim&namespace=all&tagfilter=&start=&end=2022-01-03&limit=50&title=Special%3AContributions) in compared to this (https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=Awesome+Aasim&namespace=all&tagfilter=&start=&end=2022-01-03), the script will not work. 1989 (talk) 04:25, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- To reproduce the issue, go on Special:Contributions, type any editor and click Search. Hopefully you're able to fix this. 1989 (talk) 05:18, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- 1989 If a contribution limit is specified, I do not load the script as it would cause the page to hang for large number of edits (like 500). Aasim (talk) 19:35, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
changed location of JPL from Pasadena to its correct location: La Cañada Flintridge
[edit]Hi, AA. I made the change to properly locate JPL. I re-did the change with a reference, and in my note added two other sources for the change. I wasn't sure how to incorporate multiple sources for the same reference tag, but I guess one is probably sufficient. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.215.93.156 (talk) 02:18, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

You have been trouted for: YOUR REASON HERE Furry roleplayer (talk) 04:35, 1 February 2022 (UTC)the record label on the riddlin kids page was marked as sony records which is a label not associated with sony music and i changed it to the correct label columbia
- Hey hey~ I can't always tell User:Furry roleplayer, which is why a good edit summary is important. If you explained that there then more people would understand what you were doing and thus agree with your change (or not but then they could discuss). Hope to see you make more productive edits in the future! Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis 04:38, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Incorrect information on Droit du Seigneur
[edit]Article description of Droit du seignor contains incorrect information that needs to be removed. Attempts to correct this were reverted, despite the banality of the error.
Article reads: "A majority of historians have concluded that the idea is a myth, and that all references to it are from later periods. Over the centuries, it became commonly portrayed in European literature as a practice that had occurred in earlier times or other places. In practice, it may have been the feudal lords using their power and influence over serfs to sexually exploit the women free of consequences, as opposed to a legitimate legal right."
There is no citation for this bizarre opinion and no reason to include it. This "majority of historians" is an invented number, the 'conclusion' and 'myth' are descriptions of a theory, not based in fact. This entire paragraph is harmful and misleading and has nothing to do with the rest of the subject and theme of the article. Jusprimaenoctis (talk) 20:14, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
Banning users from one's talk pages
[edit]I noticed your message here. For future reference, these sections of our policies and guidelines may be helpful: Wikipedia:User pages § Editing of other editors' user and user talk pages and Wikipedia:Harassment § User space harassment. I make no comment on other matters. Sdrqaz (talk) 23:34, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Sdrgaz there is also a mention on WP:TE about users that tendentiously "ban from posting" good-faith editors. The only time a ban like this can be enacted is by the community, and it is referred to as an interaction ban for that reason. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis 02:18, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- This is also not the first time I have seen a user say "do not ever post on my talk page ever again" to a good-faith editor. Another thing to think about is that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social network, and because by nature it requires collaboration, this kind of language is counter to Wikipedia's goals. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis 02:20, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- I am not saying what policy should be, but what policy is. "Banning" people from talk pages is not something to be done lightly; I've yet to have cause to do so. However, the page we have on tendentious editing is neither a policy nor a guideline and does not take precedence over the links I showed you. While a request for someone not to post on your talk page is not formally a ban, it should usually be treated as such unless there is very good reason not to (such as leaving noticeboard notifications). Continued posting on someone's talk page after they ask you to stop will, in most cases, backfire. From what I've seen, a defence of "it wasn't an interaction ban imposed by the community" will go down very badly. Sdrqaz (talk) 02:51, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- If I may, I will just note to nobody in particular that the only reason one would post on someone's talk page after they have asked or told you not to is, generally, to fight or annoy them (unless they are a known vandal who thinks they can avoid repercussions by "banning" criticism, but that is a whole other matter) - and most people do not want to do that and recognise that even if they try to continue in good faith, as soon as the user has decided they do not want you at their talk page, they will not respond productively and will likely just delete your comments and serve you with harassment templates. Technically, they cannot ban you from posting at their talk page, but nothing good or useful will come from you posting there. If communication is needed, as collaboration requires, presumably it is about something with its own talk page. Kingsif (talk) 05:27, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- I think WP:TE may give a good idea of the situation. We can agree to disagree, but the page (which is an essay on the disruptive editing page) says that if a user is regularly "banning" good-faith users from their user talk page then it may be because they are unwilling or unable to collaborate. WP:OWN is also another thing - a user should not act like "this is my user page, please do not touch it" or "please do not contribute to discussions on my talk page" as it is counterproductive (users often stalk other talk pages looking for advice). If a user is not willing to collaborate with other editors and is regularly shooing good-faith contributors off their talk page, then I'd definitely consider a community ban. Since this appears to be an isolated incident, I'd not worry too much about it, but I'd keep an eye out to see if it happens again before raising the issue on ANB. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis 05:40, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

You have been trouted for: The information I added to Clonmany simply contained events which occur every year. 2 music festivals were added. One event was corrected (McGlinchey Summer School) because it was out of date and incorrect. PatsySGW (talk) 19:46, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- PatsySGW We generally don't allow links that are being added for the purpose of driving traffic to a website. That is why we removed it. Of course, there are certain links that are allowed, like links to homepages for notable companies, but anything else just smells like spam and is certain to be removed. Please see WP:ELNO for a full list of when an external link is not appropriate. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis 20:08, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
