Userpagerage

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism and are immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. Michaelbusch 22:46, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"If you continue in this manner"

Please let me know what you are referring to. Inappropriate statements are for me like illegitimate children of the gypsy king.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Badcop666 (talkcontribs)

Your creation of inappropriate articles. And sign your talk page posts. Michaelbusch 23:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if we're going to get on, Michael. Signed. Badcop666 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.72.242.32 (talk) 02:12, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of WHAT inappropriate articles?!?!? I wrote two pages on html form validation, in my own time for the benefit of the internet community, and ended up mired in this silly conversation with you - and my pages deleted by someone with no contact or discussion whatsoever. Signed. badcop666

You created articles that violated Wikipedia policy, particularly WP:ADVERT. Such articles are deleted with extreme zeal, and creating them is considered Wikipedia:Vandalism. It even says this in the window every time you edit a page (which also gives proper signing instructions). I suggest you review Wikipedia policy before you start editing more articles. You should start with Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. While you're at it, read Wikipedia:Userpage. Your current content is unacceptable. See also Wikipedia:No personal attacks. Michaelbusch 07:02, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For reference, here is the deletion log entry for one of the pages you created:
23:36, 13 September 2007 Alabamaboy (Talk | contribs) deleted "E-mail address form validation" ‎ (CSD G11: Blatant Advertising)
Alabamaboy has Admin authority and is authorized to delete articles at his discretion. His activities are of course monitored by all the other Admins. Log entries such as the above are the only communication for articles deleted under WP:SPEEDY. Michaelbusch 07:11, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think your attitudes and actions are quite pathetic. Period. There was no problem with the two pages I wrote until I put the word 'Quirksmode' outside the external link I added - a simple attempt to cite an original (and respected) source. Then all hell broke loose. If you lot have real jobs then I'm surprised, and if you treat people face-to-face the way you have treated me and my efforts here, then lord help the people you work with. I have never come across such a zealous, rediculous, pack of barking dogs. One word guys! one word! And all I got from you was a wall of legislation, requirements and nonesense - not one, friendly, clearly worded sentence. I added \{\{hangon\}\} as directed and you deleted my pages anyway. One word! you guys are sick. You need to get out more often. Call yourself 'admins' and 'editors' - as a professional journalist I call you spineless rule-book geeks with no social skills. Your reputation for terminally putting people off precedes you. Now I believe it. 121.72.242.32 10:00, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Validating email addresses in web forms

[edit]

It's all over my head, but since there's presumably merit in the info I've raised the point at Talk:E-mail#Validating email addresses in web forms. As you'll note, your article lives on at User:BenB4/Email sandbox, and no doubt will be added to wikipedia mainspace as appropriate. .. dave souza, talk 08:57, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I brushed it up and moved it over to HTML form e-mail address validation. ←BenB4 13:18, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Hi. How are you? Calm down any yet? Thanks for helping wikipedia.
  2. Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Single is what lead me to notice you.
  3. Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes like this: ~~~~ which for me produces this: WAS 4.250 13:00, 18 September 2007 (UTC).[reply]
  4. http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2007-September/081257.html relates an amusing incident wherein at the same time you were being treated rudely by having your article deleted, the founder of Wikipedia was being treated the same way.
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/The_Troubles is an example of the depths of Wikipedia's bureaucracy.
  6. I created a subpage for you at User:Badcop666/1. You can improve it until is is acceptable. That way you don't have to worry about our over-zealous free help that is worth every penny we pay them.
  7. You can request from any admin to do the same for the other article that was deleted.
  8. You can create your own subpages the same way you create articles only with pages in non-article space, the name of the space must also be used followed by a colon as in "User:Badcop666/1". The slash precedes the subpage name.
  9. The style of writing is far from wikipedia house style. would you like some help with that? WAS 4.250 13:00, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to Ben, HTML form e-mail address validation is already in mainspace, as noted above. That was quick! ... dave souza, talk 14:00, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
:: Thanks, looks good, style points noted, onwards! BadCop666 01:00, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there

[edit]

Saw a mention in the Signpost about your frustrations here so far. Just wanted to let you know that I've been there and maybe I can be a positive counterpart to the jerkiness that's been going on. I've written a little at my wikithoughts page; maybe you'd like to have a look (start at the bottom of the page). If you've got any questions or anything, lemme know. I've only really been involved for a month or so (after having an experience with an article getting deleted -- kinda like your experience, from what I can tell -- a year ago). Anyway, cheers. -- Scartol · Talk 12:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion at http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard&diff=158720612&oldid=158705150#E-mail_address_form_validation resulted in the article being improved and placed here : HTML form e-mail address validation WAS 4.250 13:57, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now that's more like it

[edit]
  • yeah I've 'calmed down some' - and am pretty happy with what has come out of it.
  • I'll take some time to catch up on the the advice above - thanks to everyone who has taken the time.
  • glad to hear that some pages have come back from the beyond
  • I acknowledge that Wikipedia takes a huge amount of work by its voluntary immune system - and I must say that I appreciate the quality of what I read and the time it has taken to get good stuff in place.
