Minor means minor

[edit]

See WP:MINOR for when to tag your edits as minor. Also for at least one editing session, you added an identical ref more than once. That's the wrong way to do it. See "Footnotes: using a source more than once" in Help:Footnotes. Basically, a ref is given a name, and for subsequent uses its ref name=the same name followed by a backslash / and the closing >. David notMD (talk) 00:00, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oops! Sorry about that. I'm pretty sure i did that in more than one editing session. :/ Blitzfan51 (talk) 00:21, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some help

[edit]

Hi! I saw your question at the Help Desk, and I'd like to offer my help. If you like, I can claim you as a mentee through the mentorship program (more info here). That allows you to easily ask questions that will appear on my talk page, and I'd be happy to get back to you as soon as I can with any help you need. May 2023

[edit]

Information icon I noticed that a message you recently left to Alex Julián Martínez may have been unduly harsh. Please remember not to bite the newcomers. The WP:3RR describes the number of times you go backwards and forwards between "versions" not the number of "revisions" you undo. If a vandal makes 100 edits to a page and you revert to the last stable version, your not 98 times over the 3 revert rule. Cakelot1 ☞️ talk 17:28, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, from Portugal.

Hey, no worries! As much as i did not like the reversion, i knew it was OBVIOUSLY not done with bad intentions.

Continue the good work, good evening :) 2001:8A0:7643:2400:3486:C843:55A:7003 (talk) 21:20, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

yeah. I'm using the new view IP edit tool and I got into a mode of continuous reverting. Thank you for understanding. Blitzfan51 speak to the manager 21:22, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

CVUA

[edit]

Hello! I saw you recently left me a message about joining the counter vandalism unit academy. Sadly, you are a little short on mainspace edits. I would recommend making about ~70 more constructive edits to the mainspace. After that experience, feel free to leave me another message, and I’d be glad to train you. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 18:20, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You haven’t edited your CVUA work in almost a week. I just wanted to ask if you are still interested in enrolling. I know that life can get busy, so I’m just checking in. :) - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 00:10, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I got surprise grounded and the the Internet on my computer is going to be out for a while. The only reason I can tell you this is that I’m on a friends phone. I should be back in a week or two until then feel free to put a wiki break template on my user page. Thank you for your understanding. I am still interested, but I might just be out for a while. Blitzfan51 speak to the manager 22:59, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. Ping me when you’re online again. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 23:00, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Blitzfan51! Do you still think you’ll be active at the CVUA? It’s been multiple weeks. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 02:38, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As you have been completely inactive for more than a month, I have sadly decided to terminate your CVUA training. If you do return to activity, let me know and we can discuss your training further. Thanks! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 00:04, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, TFAs will be automatically semi-protected the day before it is on the main page and through the day after.
  • A discussion at WP:VPP about revision deletion and oversight for dead names found that [s]ysops can choose to use revdel if, in their view, it's the right tool for this situation, and they need not default to oversight. But oversight could well be right where there's a particularly high risk to the person. Use your judgment.

Technical news

Arbitration

  • The SmallCat dispute case has closed. As part of the final decision, editors participating in XfD have been reminded to be careful about forming local consensus which may or may not reflect the broader community consensus. Regular closers of XfD forums were also encouraged to note when broader community discussion, or changes to policies and guidelines, would be helpful.

Miscellaneous

  • Tech tip: The "Browse history interactively" banner shown at the top of Special:Diff can be used to easily look through a history, assemble composite diffs, or find out what archive something wound up in.

  • Following a motion, the contentious topic designation of Prem Rawat has been struck. Actions previously taken using this contentious topic designation are still in force.
  • Following several motions, multiple topic areas are no longer designated as a contentious topic. These contentious topic designations were from the Editor conduct in e-cigs articles, Liancourt Rocks, Longevity, Medicine, September 11 conspiracy theories, and Shakespeare authorship question cases.
  • Following a motion, remedies 3.1 (All related articles under 1RR whenever the dispute over naming is concerned), 6 (Stalemate resolution) and 30 (Administrative supervision) of the Macedonia 2 case have been rescinded.
  • Following a motion, remedy 6 (One-revert rule) of the The Troubles case has been amended.
  • An arbitration case named Industrial agriculture has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case close 8 November.

Joke AFDs

[edit]

I'm a bit late, but I saw your post on Melecie's talk page. To make a joke AFD for April Fools' Day, you navigate to the desired AFD page and manually make the nomination, copying in the templates. Be sure to mark it as humor in some way, obviously. Avoid using Twinkle and get rid of the "REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE AFTER CLOSING THIS AFD" template to avoid a tag appearing in mainspace. Also, be sure to add it to the April Fools log and not the regular one. Other than that, have fun with it! You can even put a fictional name in the signature, like at this one.
