Question

Hello. I just wanted to ask if the coach's name in FIFA World Cup squad templates should be full or just surname? (I have recently created some) Thank you. - Darwinek 14:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Professional level indeed

You have created an article about Edmund Twórz in appalling English. Even if you had copied it from somewhere (which I suspect is not the case, as he is a rather obscure pre-war player), you are bound to correct it. Such behavior might be acceptable to a newbie, but I am dismayed to find it in experienced Wikipedians who claim good or even "professional" knowledge of English. Shame on you!

The preceding unsigned comment, which was not only rude but also erroneous since it was somebody else who created the article, was added by 83.23.46.235 (talk) 21:53, 16 January 2007 (UTC).

Namgung Do

could you please revert the article name? (from Nam Kung-Do to Namgung DO).

Namgung is a well-known Korean surname (eventhough not as frequent as Kims, Lees or Parks).

Rafael García

I don't know why you made this useless disambiguation (I intend to have it changed back), but could at least fix the links?

Why do that move in the first place? People looking for an obscure soccer player would type Rafael Torres since that is his name. There is only 1 Rafael García on Wikipedia. TJ Spyke 21:58, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Mito as uni town

Hi. Good catch on that one! I hadn't even noticed the categorization. This is definitely NOT a university town! Cheers, from Mito! --RJCraig 02:54, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

University Towns

While I doubt Pretoria can be regarded as a University Town. Bloemfontien probably is. At least to the same extent as Pietermaritzburg, Durham and York the city derives a substantial amount of its existance from the presence of two South African Universities. The citation:

in all cases are so dubbed because the educational institution(s) presence pervades economic and social life. Many local residents may be employed by the university, many businesses cater primarily to the university, and indeed the students population may outnumber the local population outright.

While the gown population does not outnumber the town population at this point the prevailing ethos remains. Paul Hjul 16:19, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Why did you place Nelson in the category of University Towns? Have you ever been to Nelson? It is certainly not a University Town. It seems maybe you are running some sort of script to modify this category in several articles and did this one without researching it? Rewand 03:03, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Why did you rename this article? Please provide strong argument otherwise I'm reverting it to conventional Russian transliteration. Thanks. Papushin 04:18, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Soviet Union/USSR

Hello. Shouldn't USSR national football team and subsequent FIFA WC templates be renamed to "Soviet Union" form? You know, we already use United States instead of U.S. or USA. Regards. - Darwinek 12:26, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Categories

Hello. Well, it depends. Maybe not. As far as I know cat. Czechoslovak footballers includes only national team players, Soviet one should include such, too. Point is what will happen if such "XY international footballers" would be created. You know, which footballers will be then categorized under "Czechoslovak footballers". I think it is pointless to include there all people born in Czechoslovakia or Soviet Union, respectively, as all contemporary footballers were born there. So I propose cleanup of (mainly the Soviet one) to include only footballers who played for the national team and notice on the top of the category page, that it is designed for inclusion of national team players.

Fact is that most of articles about CS and USSR footballers on Wikipedia, are about footballers who played for the national team. Maybe in the future, when there will be more players from that eras without national team record, then it should be split. - Darwinek 08:29, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Sub-Categories

No, I will not. Since they are subcategory, they must be under subcategory. General practice is wrong. They don't need to be in the category:X footballers. - KRBN 13:08, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

For your messages. You have a happy Easter too! --Guinnog 06:35, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi! Why have you removed all the third names of the players? Are they wrong? Are they useless? And, however, are they names or surnames?? --necronudist 16:24, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Didi

Oh oh... it seems I made an error?!? Also the portuguese page of wikipedia calls him "DIDI"... maybe, if you've time, you can revert my edits when finding them. thanks and good work. --Attilios 23:12, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

List of countries by continent

Hello,

At the moment, I am trying to clear up the (on purpose?) confusion between Western Sahara and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in Wikipedia.

You have reverted my edit in List of countries by continent, and you were probably right if this list is for geographic entities (you corrected my mistake).

Following a dispute about the template Template:Country data Western Sahara, I created the section Template talk:Country data Western Sahara#Request for Comment: Western Sahara and the SADR in the talk page. As that concerns a similar subject, your opinion would be welcomed. --Juiced lemon 22:43, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, when creating dab pages such as Daniel Fernandes, could you also make sure that the incoming links are changed to point to the disambiguated articles? Thanks, Punkmorten 14:43, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Germany national under-21 football team

The Germany national football team and the U-21 team might be merged. I've already started a discussion and vote for this. You can join the discussion here. Kingjeff 16:47, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

1950 US squad

Regarding Antonello Valentini: I tried to determine if this was an error. I don't know where Antonello came from but Valentini resembled most closely an Ed Valentine who played for the US at that period. Re Frank Moniz: Like Ed Valentine, Moniz played for the US in that period also but they also both played for Fall River Ponta Delgada. From what I was told there were two tryouts for the 1950 US team. One was St. Louis and the other New York. Those people I am told were at the tryouts and were possibly named as alternates. Between Helmut Demucke, Antonello Valentini, and Frank Moniz only Moniz appears to free of errors. I have not been able to find the other two anywhere. Libro0 21:56, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Edmund Tworz

Sorry, but I only get this IP and I DIDN'T MADE any changes of articles. Maybe you know, that my IP is dynamic so different people can get this number. So please reject opinion about my "ingerention" to article Edmund Tworz. If you don't believe me, I will show you history of my Web browser.

Venue suggestion needed for a meet-up in Yuen Long

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have perfomed a web search with the contents of Martin Hoffmann (luthier), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Martin Hoffmann. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 00:59, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Kelly Youga

So, it seems you're 66% right. I've searched for the official match reports of the three "Youga's games": 16 October 2006 Fulham-Carlton, 24 February 2007 Charlton-West Ham, 18 March 2007 Charlton-Newcastle. As you can see, the first match is missing. Plus, I've found another website who says that Youga played 1 match and was send to Bradford City in January, so he may have played the match vs Fulham... --necronudist 10:08, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Mixed team categories

Hi, do you really think the "mixed team" categories are really necessary? I perceive the "mixed team" designation as a retroactive book-keeping "country code" by the IOC so that medal totals would balance. Certainly those athletes didn't really compete as a team other than with the other partner(s) in their specific events. I think it is a bit of overkill for these categories to exist. Thanks, Andrwsc 00:43, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

You may care to note that I have created an article about Sergei Gotsmanov who was one of the 1988 UEFA European Football Championship players previously without an article. Cheers. --Daemonic Kangaroo 07:14, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, they are the same person and I've added in everything I know about him, which isn't much. Ironically, I went to five RailHawks games this season, but never made the connection.Mohrflies 13:59, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Andrzej Fischer

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Andrzej Fischer, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Andrzej Fischer seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Andrzej Fischer, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. FIFA World Cup is currently under Featured article review, and as an active contributor to the article you may be interested in chiming in at Wikipedia:Featured article review/FIFA World Cup. Oldelpaso 11:06, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

As a courtesy, I think you ought to let the Category creator know of this nomination. --Dweller (talk) 15:27, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi! Criteria are criteria...just conventions. I don't agree with you simply 'cause other comparable lists I wrote (Serie A foreigners, Liga foreigners) use my "original" criteria. However, you are doing a great job keeping the page updated and you are de facto mantaining it, so I think you should decide for whatever you think is right! P.S.: I really appreciate your works, expecially the World Cups' squads! They're my passion! I would build up a wiki just for them :-P --necronudist (talk) 22:03, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, I update the Serie A list after every matchday (I'm Italian), and the Liga's list every 6 months, but you're doing a great job with the Premier League list. Plus, I've got a database where I collect World Cup players' infos since...something like 10 years :-) but it's really difficult to find any 1930-1950 infos, 'cause I don't know any research book about that period. I think the only solution is to find newspapers of the period. --necronudist (talk) 09:47, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
