Jona God of Thunder
The improvements you made look good. Of course I have lots of quibbles! :) It's unfortunate we can't move forward from this version [1] which despite its easily fixed and clarified problems (including short instead of short supply, hibernation (which isn't right in a zoological sense etc.) is a much improved framework. At any rate, there is much work to be done.
- What other insects? Are you going to just leave us hanging...???
- Also I don't like the "this article deals exclusively with..." nonsense. Honey usually refers to the product of... would be much better. Our article on honey shouldn't exclude relevant content or promote a particular honey POV. :) The lesser honeys can, and most certainly should, be covered (such as they are).
- The removed section of "List of European Honeys with PDO/PGI[88]" should be dealt with better than just tossing it in the trash. I know you didn't remove it, but it's unfortunate there are those who treat the work of others in such an uncivil fashion. Is it worth spinning off to a separate article? Noting that these varieties exist with a short summary mention? I'm not sure.
- There are many many other changes needed (restoring the photos I added would be good to start with), but moving: "According to international food regulations, "honey stipulates a pure product that does not allow for the addition of any other substance…this includes, but is not limited to, water or other sweeteners"[3] down from the third sentence would be a good place to start. Food regulations don't belong in the introduction except in some sort of summarized fashion (if that). It doesn't add anything meaningful.
- Perhaps I'll have a chance to work with you and Bongo on the article (one can dream). But if the stalking and trolling (not that imagined in John Carter's fairy tales mind you) continues it might not be worth it. Anyway, happy to see some progress being made after all the hubbub! Kudos. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:42, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- I like your suggestions but I don't have any more time to work on this right now. Feel free to improve boldly once you are back in the game. Jonathunder (talk) 23:49, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- No worries. Sorry for mentioning you here where so many of Wikipedia's worst trolls and vandals are lurking, but mostly I just wanted to thank you! :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:57, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

CoM. I know nothing about this but this edit by an IP at ANI probably means something to you.--Sky Attacker Here comes the bird! 23:45, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- That's one of my socks. Chillum and I have several.
- Have you followed the latest Arbcon proceeding? They refuse to dictate that block evaders should be outed by those in the know, but are punishing editors targeted in a massive score settling disruption with heavy sanctions for... WAIT FOR IT...
- not outing a block evader who was contributing constructively and never abused their tools (unless you call undoing one of Sandstein's many policy violating and abusive actions abuse).
- Of course their reluctance to require the disclosure of "alternate accounts", as the pet socks of admins are known, is explained by all the inappropriate block evasion and socking they don't want to disclose about their buddies (Chillum for example). The travesty and seediness of the corruption at the top goes a long way to explaining the problems down here at the bottom (where I edit with only this one lowly account, can you believe it?).
- Did you see I got blocked for "harassment" for asking an admin to stop stalking an editor to various new threads after the poor fellow's complaints were shrugged off by the keystone cops? Anyway, I hope you're having a good week. I thought you were retiring from this craziness??? ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:55, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- But I said I might be back next year remember? Hopefully a fresh new year (and decade) will see a fresh environment. However, it doesn't look good right now. As for me being here, I had an hour or two to kill so I just jumped on and checked up on a few friends here and came across this. I've just read more into this and I must agree that the foolishness of your block leaves me speechless and I am furthermore disappointed by the apparent lack of judgement by many of those commenting here.--Sky Attacker Here comes the bird! 00:03, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- We need new admins.--Sky Attacker Here comes the bird! 00:05, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- Add it to the list. Maybe we can clone the good ones before they're desysoped? Ironic that Glasscobra and Jennavecia, for example, aren't known to engage in inane blocking. But the disruptive witch hunt must be rewarded by Arbcon so they can pontificate on why this type of thing keeps happening. I wonder... ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:13, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Favor needed
Hi CoM, I came across this article, Beef on Weck sandwich that deals with a local food in my area. I did a rework of it and I would like you to see, if you're interested, where improvement could be made. Thanks! Shinerunner (talk) 17:39, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing out the article. I enjoy that kind of regional specialty and tradition.
- Unlike the Dutch (not to mention our neighbors to the North who put beef gravy on their freedom fries and spaghetti on their pizza...), Americans are known for our refined taste. We are a nation with a long history of gourmet cuisine, a fusion of the very best on offer from around the world.
- How wonderful that our food is infused with flavor developed and inspired from our diverse backgrounds, while being refined to the high standards of our elite chefs, fry cooks, and backyard grillers. This innovative approach and joy in creativity can only come from a nation of free spirits where the populace enjoys true democracy, unencumbered and unhinibited by rules and regulations or narrowminded dogma. :)
- It looks good to me (the article and the sandwich). I mucked about and introduced some grammar irregularities. Feel free to revert, modify, or alter at your discretion. Bon appetit. ChildofMidnight (talk) 20:33, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

- Well, CoM, I'm not surprised that you'd come up with stuff like that. Encyclopedic? What does Google Books give you? Drmies (talk) 05:12, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help CoM the article looks much better. I know that I should stay away from these articles. It does my waistline and cholesterol no good. By the way another regional favorite is salt potatoes. Shinerunner (talk) 21:54, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- It seems there are a lot of German immigrants out that way. In the Midwest too. I started grape pie. I might move it to Concord grape pie or make it a section of a broader grape pie article, not sure yet, but right now it's about that region's specialty. Fun stuff. The Naples Grape Festival is all ready for you to start it if you're interested!!! :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:09, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

- Needs more salt, idiot. You can't believe anything in this book. This recipe should be deleted anyway because no one outside of Leidsche Rijn Vinex near Utrecht actually eats this crap.
- And metacommentary:
- Not like that, use two hands! Not so high, you're going to burn it. Can't you slice any faster? We're running low on bread crumbs. Could you make any more of a mess? How do we teach these people to follow directions? If you can't scramble an egg you have no business trying to make quiche. ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:33, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Think of the lawsuits when a vandal writes in "bleach" as an ingredient and some poor chap tries it. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 05:37, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Not to worry, readers are supposed to correct the recipes as they are making dishes dishes using them. And we don't take any responsibility for what the recipes actually say. Anyone could have added them and they're changing all the time. The best ones point to where the ingredients and preparations can actually be found. And some of them aren't even real recipes. Most are intended to make you stop eating meat or to buy a particular brand anyway. But you can go back and forth between them at will, and there's no limit to all the "in popular culture" recipes and those from chefs with Myspace pages and that no one else has ever made before. Beware the arbcom sanctions on recipes with garlic in them. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 05:45, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Even if the recipe requires garlic, you can't keep adding it when someone else insists on using marshmallow and peanut butter instead. And it doesn't matter if the recipe is for a garlic dish, the wikicookbook is about what other people say about cooking, not what ingredients are needed. Blocked for 12 hours
Hi there.
Yes, I have blocked you for the "snarky comment" [2].
What you wrote was extraordinarily inappropriate, uncivil, disruptive, and out of line with working in a collaborative environment.
This is something that you know, perhaps you were bating for a block, I won't make an assumption. But we can't function this way. There are many more mature and appropriate ways to resolve your grievances, this edit was invective and meaning to stoke a fire. It's a 12 hour block, see you in a bit.
Sincerely, Keegan (talk) 06:36, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Are you kidding? Wikipedia:Civility does not prohibit sarcasm or irony, which is what the post you cited is. Satire has, in fact, proven an incredibly important role in criticism of policies in all sorts of context. What part of Wikipedia:Blocking policy are you invoking? Your value By the way, I think you meant "baiting". Bongomatic 07:56, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

You're one of the few admins that I'd dime out, but for this, yeah. Brother, if you're gonna keep up this block, you might want to come clean. You were one of the few privy to oversight. Remember talking on the phone. Everyone here was so willing to fall on their sword, but once it twisted, sold out. You've got to be kidding me. You have a clear conscience doing this? Your COI is so great that it's unreal. So you're allowed to know who I am, but you block someone for a comment? Unreal. the_undertow talk 09:23, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

- I have an entirely different view on the recent sock puppet shambles to most of the acolytes who gather around whenever this contributor is involved in controversial issues. I support no one or everyone, but not any particular tribe, if you know what I mean. However, in this particular instance the highlighted reason for blocking CoM for half a day cannot be construed as incivility. I share his sarcastic outlook, so if I had responded with an equally sarcastic but opposite contribution would I have been blocked? Of course not. It does look slightly reactionary and you could have let it go or waited until it developed into something genuinely uncivil. (but I may have missed something). - Leaky caldron: You might have been blocked. Depends on who saw it and what the context was. Please don't assume things here, it causes faulty logic to the perception of the situation and only compels needless drama.
- Trusilver: You could have unblocked, I wouldn't construed it as wheel warring as long as you notify me. Unless it's a concern for the Foundation, I have no qualms with others reviewing and if need be overturning my actions.
- The undertow: That could only be charitably described as a mischaracterization of events. I had no idea who you were, when I found out I "ratted" on you. I let it go from there. It was your unblock of this user that was COI and ignited this fire.
- ChildofMidnight: I hope you have a pleasant Sunday. I really do. I'm trying to have one myself. Keegan (talk) 15:23, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks
Thank you to everyone who spoke up for Wikipedia's editors to be able to express concerns and communicate openly with peers. Thanks also to those who stood against arbitrary and abusive admin enforcement. Keegan seems like a decent fellow, so I have no idea why he would think it appropriate to issue a block without ever communicating his concerns or discussing his objections with me. My comment speaks for itself, and there was nothing in it that violated policy, unless sarcasm is now some sort of thought crime. That the block was supposedly for a civility violation seems particularly ironic given Keegan's unilateral and arrogant approach to admin enforcement. I don't think many of our admins would recognize civility it fell from out of the heavens and into their laps. Oh well. Thanks again to those who took the time to speak up in good faith. Take care and have fun. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:05, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
Bachmann
Agree with your assessment of the Michele Bachmann page. I went through a couple of days of back and forth with one user trying to add some balance to the health care section, which ultimately resulted in the entire page being locked. This one user apparently has a lot of free time to massage and whitewash, along with sympathetic "editors" who back him up when necessary. As my first foray into making extensive edits to a wikipedia article, it has been quite a disappointing experience. It's too bad that a couple of people can dominate and control an entry to fit their ends. Cheers,Crackenstein (talk) 05:06, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

20,000!
CoM, in honor of my 20,000th edit (this very one!), I'm having a barbecue party, right here on your talkpage. K-stick might be able to have a beer and a BBQ sandwich on his way to the plane. Everyone is invited, even those who are trying to ban you, and even those who like you. I'll post an invitation on ANI, if I have the time. Should be fun! Anyway, many of these edits were made after I ran into you (remember Creepmime?), and made it a lot more fun than it was before. Thanks for the memories, and don't forget to eat your slaw. - Well done Mies! It's Horizon Air so the first beer is free, but only two hours, so no sandwich. Altough a resteraunt at the Seattle airport has the best fish (salmon) and chips. Also if it weren't for CoM's tagging of Carlo Cattarello for notability, I would probably wouldn't be here congratulating you. So well done to both. kelapstick (talk) 22:56, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

- D4D, the funny thing is, I make purty good cornbread and all, but I don't care for the stuff...I make decent grits also (Alton Brown recipe...) and don't care for them at all! Only good thing about cooking grits is that I cook bacon too. Pig's feet I will have to decline. I made some gumbo with three of the food groups (pork sausage, shrimp, chicken) and it was very tasty. But I gladly admit, I ain't half as southern as you are. Drmies (talk) 18:37, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

So ChildofMidnight, How Do You Think About My Userpage Revamp? You Can Still See My Old Userpage. I Really Like You. GU!TARH3R0CHR!ST0PHER _-= 00:26, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's giving me a headache. Drmies (talk) 01:03, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- It looks good GHC. The old page was good too.
- Do you you think you would have more fun on Myspace and/or Facebook chatting with people and putting up the information you want on your personal page (they allow music and video also)? Everyone here is fixated on this being some kind of encyclopedia building project. And they expect people to do occasional article editing (mostly to push a particular point of view) inbetween heated bickering about the rules.
- Also, is there a contradiction in having a "this user believes in the historicity of Jesus Christ" and an "I am God" user boxes? :)

Not again?
You didn't get blocked again? How did you do that?
Sorry, we haven't been introduced, but I thought you'd like to know that I feature your work (I mention Bacon mania and Turducken as well as the obligatory Obama zone) in The World and Wikipedia, published this month. Perhaps I knew, three months ago, that all this would happen ... If you'd like to send me an email telling me your postal address, I'll send you a copy. Best wishes -- Andrew Dalby 15:28, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Andrew. I'm pleased to make your acquiantance. I searched online for the World and Wikipedia, but didn't come up with any hits. What is the publication's name? Will it be accesible online? I'd like to read it, but I'd rather not disclose my address. Just too many crazies around these parts. :) Thanks for the note. ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:24, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Commendable but sloppy
ChildofMidnight, good work on Bullshido.net. Although I still can't see how it's notable, you've removed most of the original research and done some major cleanup. But sloppy work on Lucia Newman; see Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2009 October 9#Lucia Newman. I could have sworn you were an inclusionist... (voting to keep articles that have no valid sources...) A look at this page shows that you've been spending too much time with Bongomatic. :P Cunard (talk) 04:24, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Did you notice my victorious glow. :) I think someone else cut most of it down. Win some lose some actually since the Gelato Fiasco article got deleted, but it can still be found on my user page pending restoration... News readers are inherently non-notable except perhaps on some list of Talking heads. Cheers Cunard. It was fun discussing these articles with you. Drmies is a sore loser, so it's a lot less fun crushing his inferior arguments as I have to listen to his whimpering for days afterwards. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:49, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- I could feel your gloating from far, far away. Very depressing for me because in my mind, there is absolutely no doubt that your cruddy arguments were not worth a dime. ;) Drmies won't need to fret for long, though; once three to six months have elapsed, I'll start this, and we'll really get the party going. The only thing that would prevent me doing that would be if I get blocked for vandalizing the userpages of editors who "win" even though they advance inferior arguments. I'll replace this cutie with this guy. Oh, this is so, so tempting since I can face no retribution on my own userpage. ;) Well, good luck in finding more sources for Gelato Fiasco. Nice talking to you, Cunard (talk) 06:11, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

One Final Goodbye
This will be the very last time you will ever EVER hear from me. I have to think about my real life and I therefore will never return to Wikipedia. Not next month. Not next year. Never. And this time, nothing will ever bring me back, as I have changed my password to some random combination of numbers and letters with my eyes closed. With no knowledge of what the new "password" is, and with next to no chance of ever guessing it, I can never be tempted into logging in and editing ever again. I will be logging out once more at the end of this session. When I do, it will be the last time and from that point, there will be no going back for me. I don't think I even need to say how good a friend on here you have been to me. You should know it already. Goodbye, for the definite last time and all the best with your future pursuits on this encyclopedia.--Sky Attacker Here comes the bird! 04:49, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

unique foods
Since you are into bacon and other unique foods, when I heard of the Craz-E Burger I wondered if maybe you'd be interested. The "E" part is from "The Big E", where it was introduced this year. ABC News had a picture of it but I could only find this flickr post -- maybe you'd have better luck?
While I was looking around, though, I did happen upon an article about deep-fried butter, and other interesting foods at the Texas State Fair. Can you use these somehow? If you haven't already, that is! :-)

Speedy deletion nomination of Dion Lewis
A tag has been placed on Dion Lewis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. I42 (talk) 18:31, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've removed the tag. There may be some notability problems, but the stub clearly isn't a candidate for speedy, as it asserts notability, even if notability in this case may be debatable. UA 18:34, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

I see that you have no signers, nobody willing to commit? Or did you not use enough colours?--kelapstick (talk) 16:18, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- I believe it has to do with indecisiveness and a fear of commitment. The page itself is lovely, exceptionally tasteful and very well designed. I came across a geography dispute. How are you on that subject matter? ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:24, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- My reservation is not one of indecision. Mainly, it is partially contrary with my experience; there was a time when I was burned out on Wikipedia, and would have likely left, but then I found hidden userpages. After about a week of diverting myself with them, I was over my burnout and returned to article writing, and if I may say so, to the benefit of the encyclopedia. In other words, my opinion is that the small fun diversions on the site do serve a purpose, and only become a problem when they are an editor's primary activity. These things can end up indirectly aiding in building an encyclopedia. Part of a collaborative project is enjoying working with colleagues, so some galavanting may be in order. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 18:37, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree Scaps. It's a false dichotomy. I tried to depict the social aspects as over-the-top and also tried to make them seem fun so they contrasted with a work only approach. :) Clearly there is a middleground. Speaking of which, I'm working on human disguise, the most important article I've added to since the Jedi Temple article (which was merged...) ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:51, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Fish carving
You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Fish carving, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add hangon
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

- "Less savory" = "sweeter"? Did you mean "anonymity" or "unanimity"? Bongomatic 01:15, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- As far as unsavory goes, take it up with the dictionary. There does seem to be some kind of Euro usage that doesn't quite comport with American use of savory. It's similar in my mind to the divergence between rock (candy) and the far more beautiful and wonderful stick candy we have. :)

Hey CoM,
If you've got nothing better to do than writing about obscure folk art, messing around on other people's talk pages, and talking bad about the most American thing there is (college football rankings), why don't you do us all a favor and write up Patricia Rinehart? See 5. Playwright, married to Harvey Breit, possibly a New York socialite? You know you like those characters. She was possibly honored at a dance in 1949, and may have witnessed the presentation to society of Ms. Carlys A. King. Sink your teeth into that one! I have faith in you. Drmies (talk) 17:43, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Reconsider your tweaks to the lede. "Has been regarded" means he has been regarded as such, but we can presume he still IS regarded. ;) Drmies (talk) 18:38, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- There are several issues on that article I want to discuss. But I don't want Spaceman to resent my involvement. :) It originally said he "was" considered... and I changed it to is. The problem is that, in fact, I am not sure whether the statement still stands. I, frankly, don't think he is still considered to be one of the greatest. But I don't know what the reliable sources say. A criticism type section where his work is assessed would be helpful. I'm not an expert, but I think that some critics found his characters to be two dimensional caricatures and were/are disappointed that his work wasn't more political. But by all means, feel free to change it back to "is". Getting me involved in artlce work can be messy, as you know. The third section of the opening paragraphs is needed and should cover a broad view of his life and work including the geopolitical context (british india and post-colonialism), the work he accomplsihed, and a summary of the awards/recognition/reception his work received. It's very difficult in fact, speaking of English language writing, to avoid ambiguity and I often find myself stumbling with the unintended meanings and gray areas that our abstract communicative system employs. But that's getting a bit far afield perhaps. Number 2 in the country? Seriously? <rolls eyes>. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:46, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- You know, I actually might agree with you on one issue: the lede, establishing a slightly broader approach. And it is true, I believe, that the reception of his work in this article seems to be a bit skewed to reception outside of India, but for now, for GA, I think it's fine. FA certainly would require more national criticism, so to speak. As far as critics' statements and judgments are concerned, I guess that as long as the cited statements are correct, and no evidence to the contrary is present, they should be placed in the present tense. I emailed Spiff a list of MLA cited articles and books about Narayan--I think there were almost 250, so that's a pretty decent indication of ongoing fame at least among scholars. I do agree that a criticism section could probably be bigger, and if you find critics who aren't so nice, by all means include them--it's only fair. (But try and stick to the nice formatting job done on the references.) Thanks pal, Drmies (talk) 19:06, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Biographical Information vs. Personal Life
On the Warren Cuccurullo page, the section that was recently titled Biographical information appeared to me to fit in that location on the page. Now that the title has been revised to Personal life, it appears to me that a section with that title would fit better much farther down the page, closer to Discography. (I'm not going to mention anything about restaurant projects!)
I would like to leave the section where it is and change the title back to Biographical information.
I am trying to update the Missing Persons (band) page and all of the band members' pages to correct some factual errors and add recent events. I am planning to expand and update Warren Cuccurullo's Biographical information section in the near future.
I will try to find out if he is indeed at this point deriving a large share of his income from his restaurant ventures as opposed to what he is drawing from his musical endeavors. If that is the case, the Restaurant projects section will be quite appropriate. I think that there might be more restaurants than what you have listed. And now it's time for a late lunch! Doc2234 (talk) 19:01, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note Doc. Very courteous of you. The early life/ biography stuff usually seems to go first in the body of articles, so I was just going by that standard (but maybe musician articles are different?). I changed the title on the biographical section to reflect the content that was included (and because it seemed weird to title it "biographical" since the whole article is a biography), but it may well need to be changed back now as it's been revised again. The restaurant stuff got mixed in there because it was linked to the girlfriend, but I separated it back out per your concern.
- Different people have different preferences. As long as the article is well written, logically organized, accurate and comprehesive, I tend to be pretty flexible. Clearly the food portion is the most important... Having said that, it's all yours. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:07, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

- What do you mean weigh in? And Bongomatic is someone you mentioned earlier; something about revealing true identity. Daniel Christensen (talk) 01:33, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- Weigh in meaning comment in the discussion. I have no idea if they have Flickr or Yahoo accounts. And I guess I'm not really "sure", actually, about their willingness to fund the arts, but I'm interested to see what sort of offer they're willing to step up to the table with. Why do you need a pro flickr account? Can you create additional free accounts? Is there a benefit to someone funding the endeavor or to humanity? ChildofMidnight (talk) 01:37, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- With the quality of good pictures; each account would only be good for about 20-30 pictures each; it would be a hassle; but good pooint... Daniel Christensen (talk) 01:47, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- I think each account allows you to upload 200 pictures regardless of quality. There is some hassle and a different e-mail address needed for each. But otherwise it seems fairly reasonable. Come to think of it, Kelapstick has a Flickr page with some very artsy Hawaii photos. On the other hand he's saving up for a family trip to the San Diego Zoo (Something I oppose. Zoos are bad!) - I think each account allows you to upload 200 pictures regardless of quality. There is some hassle and a different e-mail address needed for each. But otherwise it seems fairly reasonable.

Historical records are incomplete. We know that the June 2004 article on Reverse psychology had grown to 7,186 bytes by May 2007 and peaked at 8,143 bytes in January 2009. Then disaster struck when an editor slashed anecdotes and unsourced material, leaving only 532 bytes. By March 2009 Reverse psychology had sunk to a low of just 210 bytes, a single sentence saying Reverse psychology is when one person tricks another into dumbness. Since then the article has struggled back to 1,214 bytes. But is Reverse Psychology, The Wikihistory a suitable topic for an article? I think not. Aymatth2 (talk) 01:13, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Does Adam West play himself on the show? I think that may need separate mention. Are there other people who play themselves? That might be worth distinguishing. ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:20, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Well he dosen't play himself persay but he does play Mayor Adam West.--Pedro J. the rookie 21:22, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- I see. Is that covered in the article? :) I haven't gotten there yet... Another thing I noticed is that the main photo is of only one cast member. A shot of the main cast would be better if one is available. ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:25, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

no there is not any of the gruop together, als=o i took out the cast changes as it is covered in the artical.--Pedro J. the rookie 21:27, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
no it was great just that i saw the simpsons first and thought maybe i should use this(Pedro hopes he will be forgivin, the table was great probably use in FG characters)=D.--Pedro J. the rookie 21:29, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- mmmmmm, I guess that is the difference between a list of cast members and a list of characters, but I am biased, I like sortable tables. I am not big on the two rows for one voice actor, and I think there should be a "notes" column, since there is one in the recurring characters, but not the main characters, to make things consistent. Just my preference though.--kelapstick (talk) 21:37, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Muahahahahaha. Okay, well, I changed a bunch of stuff around. :) I don't think I've ever been asked twice to help on articles. I'm not sure why. :) Anyway, Hopefully some progress was made. Sorry if I messed up a lot of stuff. Hopefully with time the wounds and damage can be undone and healed. Alright you vultures watching and waiting. Have at it. If Kelapstick's boxen are anything like his dark room work, the article is probably better off without them. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:48, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- The Family Guy article says there are five main actors and the list of article says six. Stewey, what say you??? ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:57, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
there are only 5.--Pedro J. the rookie 22:05, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well there are two that are listed as playing Meg, Mila Kunis and Lacey Chabert. That is why it is listed as six probably.--kelapstick (talk) 22:08, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Also Patrick Warburton is listed in the list of regular cast members, doesn't have a heading, so he either needs to be given a heading or moved to recurring cast.--kelapstick (talk) 22:10, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- The article says six and lists them right up front. You gents will have to sort out those details. I'm just in it for the Macro and artistic visioning. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:16, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

no she counts as a former i think the recuring cast actor who plays joe is the onr.--Pedro J. the rookie 22:10, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yup - see above. The former should probably be taken out of the heading though, and focus on the current voice of Meg.--kelapstick (talk) 22:11, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
no that's an important part plus she already is on the former. an took patrik of the main--Pedro J. the rookie 22:15, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- But you are speaking in the present tense at the start of that section "Family Guy has six main cast members most of whom play several roles." Than you include Lacey Chabert as a main cast member, which she is not, she is a former cast member. It's also a contradiction, you say that they have six main cast members and list seven.--kelapstick (talk) 22:19, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you're talking about the opening paragraphs I disagree K-Stick. There are five main characters (according to the article). When she was on the show, she was one of the five (hence she's included parenthetically) and when she left she was replaced, so there were still five. When are you going to see Butte, America? ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:24, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
i agree.--Pedro J. the rookie 22:28, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)I'm talking about the part under the Regular Cast section, where it says that Family guy has Six main cast members (in contradiction to the lead sentence of the article which says they have five). They don't have six, the have had six. They currently have five (it's all about tense). I think the actors in the table should match the actors in the headings in the regular cast section. I've been too busy to watch documentaries lately. Also I am tied up in The Lost Symbol.--kelapstick (talk) 22:33, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Friendly suggestion
Hi! Looks like you're doing some great work cleaning up the List of Family Guy cast members page. I have a suggestion for you, though, and that is to use the "Show Preview" button at the bottom of the edit page (next to the "Save Page" button). Then you can review your work and continue editing it if you don't like it, without saving a new version of the page every time. At last count, you have 18(!) edits today, many of which I'm sure could have been previewed and changed. This can help make the Edit History easier to read and follow. Regardless, keep up the great work! MrMoustacheMM (talk) 22:01, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thank MrM. It's a very good suggestion. Unfortunately I work in a somewhat frenetic manner and have gotten confused when I try to use the preview button. I sometimes have multiple versions of the same page open for comparison, so it can get a bit messy and I've had stuff get lost in the shuffle so to some extent I prefer a save as I go approach. But I will try to try to use it more. :) Old dog new tricks. You know how it is. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:12, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Human Suit
I don't understand at all how the human suit got deleted. Seemed like the start of a rich article. I haven't retired, just got diverted into starting articles on Senators and other major public figures. Many articles. Sort of addictive (but I think you are banned from this type of subject). Locating, summarizing and sequencing the content is a bit like doing a crossword puzzle. Then there is the challenge of staying strictly neutral and avoiding libel with a cast of characters like this. Politicians are bad enough everywhere, but in this case ... Aymatth2 (talk) 12:52, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- I couldn't find any major public figures on that list. :) I thought you were focused on ice sports on the African continent? Isn't there an exception to the libel rules when it comes to politicians? Perhaps there should be? ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:12, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- I believe that you are referring to the precedent set in New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, which specifically applies to the press, and I am not sure how Wikipedia fits into this, since it is not a press organization, but rather a non-profit. In general, Wikimedia cannot be sued for libel, since it is exempt as a publisher, but not originator of the content, but an individual can still be sued for libel, if the information was not taken from another reliable source, but rather originated with that user. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 17:31, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
I certainly don't want to be sued for libel and will do my best to avoid it. Good input from Scapler. In terms of importance, well, countries move up and down the scale, always will. If we could fast-forward a few hundred years and then look back, which of today's countries would seem most important? The ones that are growing slowly, are stable or declining - the ones that have peaked - or the ones where a whole lot of stuff is going on? Where was all the action in 1200 AD? Not Europe or the USA. Deep stuff. But meanwhile, interesting, perhaps useful to piece together thumbnails of powerful people. India, Indonesia, Iran. So many countries, so little time. Aymatth2 (talk) 23:06, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- 300 years? I'm not prepared to wait that long. It's all about the here and now for me. That's out national motto. You can't be sued in Canada. You and the penguins have total immunity. ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:35, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

- I was just reading about the Confederate Motor Company based in Birmingham, Alabama. Do you park the Escalade in the summer and cruise on one through the hills around your suburban plantation style ranch house? Alabama's football team was up to sixth in the latest LA Times poll, which seems awfully generous, but they did note your team's sloppy play last week. Do you think the Angels have any chance to push the series to a seventh game in NYC? I wonder if MQS is a fan... ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:10, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi ChildofMidnight, regardless of the manner in which we began interaction on here, I must say I appreciate your tips on articles such as this one and the previous "Magnum Crimen" I think it was called. Anyhow, although this article on this lady seems very similar to my first article at a glance (translator, education, etc.), there does not seem to be a single source on there. Not a one. The awards seem inconsequential and unimportant. In additon, it seems to be going towards a snow delete, so I do not think I will comment since I have nothing really of value to add....Turqoise127 (talk) 15:15, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Privacy and sockpuppetry concerns
ChildofMidnight, I found your comments on Chillum's talk page rather troubling. If you have genuine, serious concerns about Chillum's use (if any) of alternate accounts, then you should follow the appropriate steps in Wikipedia's dispute resolution process. In the interest of limiting drama and avoiding unnecessary invasions of anyone's privacy, a calm approach by email might be your most sensible first step.
If such an approach isn't fruitful, and you feel that he has a conflict of interest or has edited abusively through his alternate accounts (if any), then the ArbCom is in a position to review his adminship. Again, a private approach by email to get a sense of the Committee's willingness to consider a case might be a good (though not strictly required), drama-reducing approach.
The one thing that you absolutely should not do is attempt to use knowledge or information which you may have (or which you may think that you have) to threaten Chillum. Either the problem is serious and/or current and requires resolution, or it does not. Attempting to apply pressure to Chillum through threatening an invasion of his privacy in what appears to be an unrelated area isn't acceptable. Please do not persist in that course. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 18:09, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note ToAT. I have concerns over anyone using multiple undisclosed accounts. If he has a need for an alternate account it should be disclosed to the appropriate check users or arbcom who can provide a check that it is being used consistenly with policy. In the interests of transparency and accountability I try to conduct all Wiki related discussion on Wiki. As I am not an admin it would be very difficult for me to threaten Chillum. I certainly feel threatened by him and other admins who refuse to show restraint and refuse to abide by our core policies and standards for behavior and civility. <outdent>So Butte, America was good. But too many MTV era cuts in the great file footage which was the best part. And they didn't explain when the shots were taken or give much explanation or context on the footage used which was too bad. The lady of the mountain(?) Our Lady of the Rockies thing is pretty cool. And it was interesting how after they tunneled under the town a bunch they then dug up the town piece by piece with strip mining. Reminded me a bit of the Giving Tree which is getting bad press as a bad children's book from the P.C. crowd. I also thought the threading through history with economic and union upheavels and its final closing was pretty interesting. Seem like we're returning to the 1970s... only SUVs instead of those hulking cars and China instead of Japan. Anyway, it was pretty cool. I think you'd enjoy it. Some fun file footage and the pacing was pretty quick and the writing and storyline entertaining and not too academic for peons like me with short attention spans. - The shoutout was awesome, I think we can let the edit war slide for now. --kelapstick (talk) 23:12, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- What shootout? I thought the use of dynamite to blow-up rival unions was an exciting tactic. I also liked the ethnic history (mostly Irish, then some Eastern Europeans) which reminded me of One Man's West by David Lavender about mining in the Telluride area (if I remember right). ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:20, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you found the dynamite union link interesting, you should watch Giant Mine (film), there is a book too, Dying for Gold I think. I know a few guys that worked there. It's funny how 3 & 4 in List of the tallest statues in the United States are statues of miners. And 2 is looking over a mining camp.--kelapstick (talk) 23:25, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Which reminds me, I have to get to work on King Miner, in Thompson, Manitoba.--kelapstick (talk) 23:27, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'll take a look. Isn't it strange that there aren't more Gail Kings? There is an E. Gail King doctor who is somewhat notable. I thought the corporate history and Anaconda's investment in CHile and then the nationalization with Allende, and then his assasination (with our support?) and then Isabel Allende (which wasn't mentioned in the movie) is interesting too. Brazil is rocking with resource extraction and a big oil find. I noticed Grundle 2600 was trying to add note that despite a certain leader's promises to restrict off-shore drilling that we then gave 2 billion in loan gurantees to do it elsewhere. And Cali and LA's history of oil production past and present is interesting too. The idea that sustainability and responsibility is maintained when these resources are sourced elsewhere is a lot of bullocks as far as I'm concerned. But maybe it's good to save our stuff for later? Who knows. I'm going to wait for a car that runs on jute. Not biofuels mind you, straight jute. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:31, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

When they clean the water can they reclaim the heavy metals for commercial use? It seems like that wouldn't be that hard to do and on a large scale would be useful. No? Is it not in large enough quantities in the water? I guess not. A lot of settling ponds out there, but strip mining seems more damaging though safer for workers. ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:37, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Kelapstick, nine deaths in an explosion might seem like a lot in Canada, but just the first in Butte took more than a hundred as I recall. It's time to scale up! Why weren't you working on the Ironworld Interpretive Center, now known as Minnesota Discovery Center (it seems Iron is out in this era]]. ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:36, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

- You don't play the Jumble (game)? It may be named for Francis Trumble of Philadelphia who was a windsor chair and cabinetmaker. Good catch. Thanks for calling it to my attention. What are those artist's book called again? ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:10, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, ok thanks - I actually thought of "trumble", but didn't find it in the dictionary either. As for your question, Artist's book is actually the term. LadyofShalott 02:17, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- I find that concept interesting. Custom types are supposed to be in now. Several art shows included work with fonts as graphics, and there was a nice book on an artist's work using various lettering styles at the Paul Smith (fashion designer) store up the road. Anyway... :) Oh and I was just reading that cursive is dying out. And there's a dispute over whether schools should teach the simplified Chinese characters (developed from what were once pictographs) introduced by the communists to promote literacy in mainland China or the traditional form advocated by some Taiwanese and old school CA residents. ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:28, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Traditional characters are used in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Simplified characters are used in China and Singapore. Japanese kanji are not quite the same as either, though they do have some simplifications incorporated. Bongomatic 04:41, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Interesting stuff. Will there be (is there already?) a written language gap then between those areas and the mainland? I know there is already a bit of a language gap between the Cantonese speaking areas and the Mandarin areas. Interesting stuff. India has a lot of language issues also. The states in the south seemed to prefer using English as a national language rather than Hindi, which they saw as a language of cultural imperialism from the North (where Delhi the political capital is located). Fun stuff. Perhaps Esperanto will make a comeback? ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:16, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Didn't see this before. Belgium is a similar case. If you travel in northern Belgium (and you don't speak Dutch/Flemish), don't bother to try out your French. It's the language of southern Belgium and it's seen as "imperialistic" in the north. English is seen as neutral, and goes down much better. Andrew Dalby 12:54, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- (OR alert) The gap is narrowing, not widening. Even in Hong Kong Mandarin is becoming widespread; in southern China proper it's been universally spoken for decades. The character difference doesn't pose an insurmountable barrier—the pictographs are similar and the differences are somewhat predictable. Chinatowns all over the world have traditionally been Cantonese-speaking, but even there the influx of Mainlanders is making noticeable changes in the prevalence of Mandarin. Don't know much about Indian languages except that "Urdu" is fun to say and write. Bongomatic 17:41, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

- Looks good to me Scaps. You're going to do a merge or you're trying to rewrite the whole article? Your Fox bit reminded me of an article I was reading about Raccoons posing as humans. :) Isn't that type of thing (animals disguising themselves as humans) quite a common thing in children's literature? Also, I was surprised that there wasn't more discussion of the trope's (if that's the right word) use in cartoons. Don't they unzip human costumes? And I was also frustrated that there weren't better sources on biblical figures appearing in human disguise. Anyway, I don't think there's any question that it's a notable subject. DYK nomination of Jack E. Anderson
Just a quick note to inform you that I found your article Jack E. Anderson very interesting and nominated it for inclusion in the Did you know portion of the main page. I also went ahead and added a couple of cats for it. I can also help with extending the bare URLs in the reference section out if you would like. If you have any questions feel to ask me. again nice work :) Calmer Waters 08:00, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

New disambig page
I see that you recently moved Jack Anderson to Jack Anderson (columnist) so that a disambiguation page could be moved to the previous title. I hope you have reviewed Wikipedia:Disambiguation, and particularly the section "Links to disambiguated topics" -- as it states there, "A code of honor for creating disambiguation pages is to fix all resulting mis-directed links. Before moving an article to a qualified name (in order to create a disambiguation page at the base name), click on What links here to find all of the incoming links. Repair all of those incoming links to use the new article name." As it stands now, there are nearly 100 other Wikipedia articles containing links to Jack Anderson that incorrectly point to a disambiguation page. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 12:33, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

- Happy Halloweenie! The book I was asking about is Andrew Dalby's (user:Andrew Dalby) The World and Wikipedia. Here's the author's webpage with some juicy excerpts. Apparently I'm mentioned in one flattering bit, so I can only assume the book is most excellent! And searching for the link just now I noticed user:David Shankbone's latest blog post [9] is a review of the book (which I haven't read yet). If I can get mentioned in a few more sources maybe I too can get an article??? One can dream anyway... ↜ (‘Just M E ’here , now) 15:12, 2 November 2009 (UTC)The biography not only humanizes Coach Bryant by talking in detail regarding some of his vices, it also perhaps adds to his legend by discussing how he was able to get the most out of his players and help them as people. ¶ The book includes several humorous anecdotes, including when he secretly went for a Hollywood screen test while the Alabama team for which he was an assistant coach was playing in the Rose Bowl in the 1930s. Numerous Alabama people saw him and chided him about it. ¶ He also went with some sports writers on a tour of his former hometown in Arkansas one time, and one writer looked at the humble setting and asked him if he was born in a log cabin. His tongue-in-cheek reply was that Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin, but that he was born in a manger.--- (Review of The Last Coach: A Life of Paul “Bear” Bryant by Allen Barra in) THE CHATENOOGAN

Re: 30 Rock
Hey there. As you know, the lead "serves both as an introduction to the article and as a summary of the important aspects of the subject of the article", per Wikipedia:Lead section. Therefore, the majority of what I removed is actually in the article already. In terms of what I removed, there was: the executive producers (they're already in the infobox, and I doubt the average reader even cares), the excess amount of info on the seasons (which I trimmed down to what is really needed), some awards (since they're already in the awards section and don't have to be repeated), and a little info on ratings (which I believe were false anyway). So basically, there was no new information that I removed, just some info that was repeated and not needed. Hope that helps, Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 04:10, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Notable?
Is this guy, Jake Warga, notable? I don't see it, but I know you've got a special love for journalists. Drmies (talk) 05:30, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Probably. It appears to me that he's not just a talking head reading a teleprompter, but that he's doing original reporting from the field. I don't know if that has anything to do with Wikipedia's standards, but I would say that the nature of his work and having it carried by major media makes him notable. ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:35, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Why don't you write a proposal to codify notability for journalists? Honestly, I don't know if we have one--but I think not, considering that you and I have been in various discussions (with others) about how journalists might establish notability. BTW, did you hear the bit on Prairie Home Companion last week about chocolate and bacon cake? Drmies (talk) 06:00, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Do they do pissing contests? I thought they were more about beating their chests. Was there some genetic interference from dogs? Articles for deletion nomination of Pissing contest
I have nominated Pissing contest, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pissing contest. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

- I wanted to add a see also, but I see that there is not yet an article on farting contests. Would you say that subject is more or less notable? - Was this where you heard the reference about a skunk?--kelapstick (talk) 17:56, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I saw it referred to in some academic (or so it seemed) disputes. It seems to be a colloquialism and folk wisdom. I suppose the implication is that the skunk is a much better sprayer (so to speak), or at least that a pissing contest with one would be a highly undesirable battle that would leave the skunk's rival with quite a stench. I suppose it can be used to insult one's opponent as well? Like don't get into the mud with pigs? I find it an interesting topic actually. Perhaps I've come onto a new passion (inbetween bites anyway). ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:05, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

An aside en Francais
Qui pisse contre le vent se rince les dents.
Concours de pisse et même concours pissant semblent aussi exister.

- Where are they from, the first is a figure of speech, something about, he who pees into the wind, uses it to wash themself. The second is explaining that examples of the competition exist.--kelapstick (talk) 19:46, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ah that makes sense. They were part of a web discussion on how to translate it's best not to get into a pissing contest with a skunk into French. At least I think that's what the discussion was about. I closed the window now, but the page came up on a google search. I was hoping there was a quiant French rhyme that said the same thing (or similar). Merci beaucoup (I had to look up the spelling...). ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:50, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- The first actually has to do with teeth. Which is odd, Qui pisse contre = Who pisses (I assume) against....le vent =the wind se rince les dents=washes their teeth? I don't really understand French phrases...It could literally mean, if you pee into the wind you will brush your teeth with it.--kelapstick (talk) 19:54, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Pissing contest photos
There are some great photos: outside the Franz Kafka museum in Prague (Czech Republic) [10] (and in winter [11]), [12] and something to do with the World Cup organizing committee's battle with the media in South Africa (as best I can make out) [13]. ChildofMidnight (talk) 20:30, 4 November 2009 (UTC) K-Stick, this [14] was one of the places I saw the skunk bit used early on so I thought it might have some specific relevance to a particular dispute, but I guess it doesn't. Here's the Fench-English forum discussion where it's discussed (if you're interested) [15]. ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:12, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- If you could find the book in hard copy, that would probably be enough to push it over the edge, it looks like that section might be actually about the phrase, but the next page is removed. Are you not putting the dictionary definition in, it addresses the subject in detail, although it is "Urban Dictionary", it's a book and not user-generated.--kelapstick (talk) 21:15, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Or maybe it's just about the discussion...--kelapstick (talk) 21:17, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's clearly notable regardless. I have no idea what the fuss is about. I considered adding this "modern fable" to the discussion [16], but it seems kind of lame and nonsensical. I just found a quote where Lyndon Johnson supposedly says something along the lines of: it's best not to get into a pissing contest with a polecat. Now I have to go see what a polecat is and why I'm being dragged to ANI by an abusive admin. ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:32, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Pissing contest continued
K-Stick, would you be able to work in this definition I found at the online urban dictionary: "When one enters a public restroom to find all the urinals are being occupied "What's going on in here? Is this some sort of pissing contest?"
Also: When two or more males gather around a toilet and urinate, "sword fighting" with their piss stream. The winner is declared when he is the last one pissing. (use in a sentence) I challenge you to a pissing contest! ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:56, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Clearly notable examples, I will see what I can do.--kelapstick (talk) 23:45, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Appreciate the effort, but I do have expansion do do in the current, like listing the current assets, that shows they are into more than gold royalties, haven't had a chance to dig out a non-primary source. Although their website lists all of them. --kelapstick (talk) 19:04, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Reported
I have reported your harassment at WP:ANI. – On a different matter, as I saw you asked about those oversighted edits: it was nothing to do with you; just a very obnoxious banned user who's been after me for a while and who routinely posts tedious "outing" attempts about me on the talk pages of every user he thinks I'm in conflict with. Fut.Perf. ☼ 21:26, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to hear about the outing attempts. I saw just now that Jehochman closed the AE thread (in what seems to me to be a very dubious manner that disregarded the good faith comments made in the discussion so far as I can tell, and about which I've requested an explanation from him). Hopefully that ends any need to continue the dispute between us (unless you can find a new venue to try and attack me so you can get the embers going again?). It's very unfortunate that Jarucek is stuck with a month-long-block because you and a couple of your admin friends have chosen to play I-didn't-hear-that and can't bear to correct your mistakes despite all those giving you feedback that your actions are punitive and disruptive to collegial encyclopedia building. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:42, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- One of your favourite admins—and mine too of course—has reopened it. --Malleus Fatuorum 23:02, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I actually think GeorgeWilliamHerbert means well. It's just that his warnings tend to be highly uncivil and unhelpful. I have no idea why he doesn't consider a more collegial and collaborative approach. Once editors are given tools to block, many of them seem to assume that bullying, intimidation, and force are the only means at their disposable in resolving conflicts. Of course those approaches only add to the incivility, disruption, and tension that undermines our collaborative encyclopedia building efforts. ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:38, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

You posted a "Civility warning" at my Talk page. No diff(s), no link(s), not even a name of the matter(s) or person(s). I'm not even sure we've had a discussion. Did you posted on the wrong Talk page by mistake? --Philcha (talk) 08:23, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi from Russian Bear
- Hi! Trans country is a country divided geogrphically between Europe and Asia, I think. It is the case of Russian Federation ))) Middle East still remains on the Aeroflot route list and never has been merged into Asia ))) To poke a bear - fancy allusion, thanx ))) --Dimitree 14:36, 3 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimitree (talk • contribs)
- As far as I see, some of English-speaking Wiki audience really dislikes Russians and Russia. Here is a very significative example [17]. Even do not know why because we are all the same - people of the Earth. The rest are politics and their games. It is silly to hate people because of some objective differences between you and them. The history repeats... So, Child of Midnight, what sould I do? --Dimitree 12:38, 4 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimitree (talk • contribs)
- It might have something to do with the nuclear missiles y'all tried to put in Cuba, the Iron Curtain, and the gulags for political dissidents. That kind of thing was looked down upon here until quite recently. ;) ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:58, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Let's not involve politics, please! US and EU made many other things violating international laws: invasions in Panama, Grenada, Vietnam, Iraq, Afganistan, Serbia and Kosovo (!!!), Taiwan, Cuba and so on. I'm just trying to be objective. Nothing more. But here, in Wiki, it is so politicised (? - how to say correctly?). My question is: how the information from your page, ChildofMidnight, supposed to be private, is getting public? Thanx! --Dimitree 18:35, 4 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimitree (talk • contribs)
- You forgot to mention the Philippines, Hawaii, Mexico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands (and more recently the moon). But of course all of our battles are wars of liberation my dearest Dimitree. ;)
- Liberate yourselves first, my sweetest ChildofMidnight )))
- We're constantly liberating places, we can hardly help ourselves! Let freedom reign (or is it rein?). Politicized is correct. We Americaners prefer Zs over Ss wherever possible. It's an expression of our independence over the British colonialist imperialist oppressors. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:44, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I thought you just told me that the Middle East was still a destination for Aeroflot. But now I see that it has been usurped into "Southwest Asia". What can I tell you? It's the Brits at work again. They are constantly putting Us where they don't belong and generally mucking about with tea and crumpets. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:47, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- And so on... I'd like to know how it is possible that this 18, privately written to you only, got a public access? May I suppose you are friends with Jasepl or even the same person? Anyway, it is not polite, at least, to share things written friendly to you. Thanx!--Dimitree 20:54, 4 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimitree (talk • contribs)
- I'm talking about this, posted by User:Jasepl. May be, in my 30, I do not understand what is polite and what is not?...
- As for English-speaking editors biased against Russian-speaking editors: so what can I=we do? We are aliens here, in English Wiki. We can just follow the rules established here and try to defend ourselves when we are attacked. No help from no one. Even Admins are subjective. The example was the article Aeroflot — Russian Airlines destinations nominated for deletion but saved because "no consensus was found". As you perfectly know. Nothing else to add...
- As for Americans/British. I'm really sorry for their=your vision of the world: no democracy, no dictatorship - every nation merits the authority it has. But we are - people of the Earth - we are all the same: white, black, yellow or red. Different are politicians - white, black, yellow or red. They play their games, frequently abusing and denying our interests. But in my opinion, we have to be much more kind and tolerant towards each other. We must no use our nationalities/countries for provocations (as it has been done here)... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimitree (talk • contribs) 21:43, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanx for your support! I'm ok because I'm right - it is evident. He is not ok because he is not right and he knows it but denying. It is up to him... As far as I see, you are involved in Pissing contest? ))) Fancy, my friend, and very unattended ))) --Dimitree (talk) 03:24, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Collaborate?
Hey CoM, given that you're the patron saint of lost causes, would you like to collaborate on M. S. Subbulakshmi? This isn't a lost cause in terms of notability (your area of expertise) but rather a lost cause in terms of biographical material available to get the article to GA status, an obstacle I hope to conquer. I could therefore use some help in source mining for such material. Let me know. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 19:40, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm still working on that article. I made some rephrasing and a major blockquote addition that I think eliminate any need for your dubious tag (which I've removed). Let me know if you see anything else. LadyofShalott 22:03, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't like the massive block quote. It didn't seem that quotable. So I tried to just work in the content in standard form. I hope I haven't muddled the article, its citations, and the writing too badly. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:21, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey
Just dropped by to say hey and that I'm doing well. Good to see you're still around :). This Malleus thing really makes me want to make a Wikipedia Soap Opera (I think BB and I already had this discussion). Would have to be something catchy though. Something like, The Bold and the Neutral or Days of Our AN/I....I think I need to work on that. Anyways, nice to see you too man. Soxwon (talk) 23:59, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes indeed. As the Wiki Turns. General Sockspittle. Take care. And remember, if you don't like to cook stay the hell out of the kitchen. Or something. Apropos of nothing. I'm just rambling now. It may be time to get offline and go outside for a change. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:04, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think I'm taking you up on that advice, I set a foot in there and it turns into an epic lulz fest (not saying the two are related). I think I'm just going to stick my radical anarchy, stately conservatism, and their confusing, yet orderly mixture. Soxwon (talk) 00:10, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks for the note. Obviously, pointing out admin abuse is not a successful political strategy for wikisurvival. I'm going to try to keep a low profile for a while, but I do find it disturbing that the editing climate here is so brutalist in favor of unquestioning obedience to admin actions no matter how improper. Anyway, there I go again... wasn't it Reagan who said that?... Oh wait, no, he said there you go again. See that, my true colors showing. Gulp. Let me try to think of a Paul Wellstone or Dennis Kucinich quote for balance... We're going to New Hampshire, and Arizona, and Wisconsin, and Michigan...
- hmmmm I'll have to work on it. Have a good one. Best to all the jokers out there, but they might want to tread lightly when editors such as Malleus are in difficult straits. Jokes around editors when they're having a hard time and frustrated aren't always appreciated. ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:32, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Block suggestion
I would appreciate an apology for attempting to coatrack an indef block of me onto a suggestion of an unrelated compromised account. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 00:45, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- And I would like an explanation on why you and select other editors who have been higly antagonistic towards me sought out one of my new articles to AfD and make into a combat zone. One of them is supposedly banned from interacting with me, and yet you and the other admin in that discussion (who've made it your business to come after me with abusive blocks, threats and intimidation) didn't bat an eyelash at their dropping a personal attack against me in the discussion. So if you object to allegations of abuse and impropriety regarding your long history of inappropriate behavior, I suggest you demonstrate that you've shaped up and that you're ready to show a little fairness and integrity. I will not hold my breath in anticipation of any corrective action being taken on your part. My good faith only extends so far, and I've seen too much of your abusive antagonism towards me already. So you will need to show good faith by acting in a way that demonstrates you're ready to make needed (and long overdue) changes for the better. ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:52, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Which article, which editor? Is this the community imposed sanction preventing you and Baseball Bugs from interacting or something else? Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 01:05, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Pissing contest (ironically). I haven't looked into it extensively (I thought it best to leave it be at least for the time being), but a quick check seemed to indicate that some of those commenting (for deletion) did not come to it by accident. As best I could tell they did not participate in any other AfDs around that time and they just so happen to be some of the same editors who have come after me aggressively over political article content issues.
- And yes, there is a clear personal attack by someone banned from interacting with me. And, irony of ironies, Sandstein, the admin who tried to block me for one month for an edit to the ACORN article with no warning or discussion (apparently that article is closely related to Obama despite it's contents mentioning him once 3/4 of the way in) is the nom.
- So any way you cut it, it's not a very appealing circumstance. Nor is it the first time I've been baited. But truth be told Georgewilliamherbert, and I know this will come as a shock to you, I let a lot of things go. I understand that some people don't like me for whatever reason and that's okay.
- But when there is one-sided abuse, censorship, bullying, and intimidation it's not okay. I have a wry and sarcastic sense of humor and I've tried to expose some of the double standards without being overly combative, but sometimes I do get pissed off at the abuse. It gets upsetting after a while to deal with this kind of thing on a regular basis. I don't seek out discussions involving Tarc (for example), yet that editor relentlessly hounds me. Do you think I would get away with doing that to anyone here? And why would I bother? I don't seek out conflict. I do try to stick up for editors getting hassled because I've had the same shit happen to me. But I'm not stupid. I understand it doesn't help me politically to have admins who don't like me. But should I remain silent when there's a problem?
- Anyway, cheers GWH, I think your block of Malleus was grotesque and I hope you'll think carefully about resolving disputes and limiting disruption and drama instead of adding to them in the future. Come help out on articles. Make suggestions. Leave a cheerful note or some encouragement. Honestly, it's a much more pleasant way to go about life and editing. ChildofMidnight (talk) 01:19, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Which article, which editor? Is this the community imposed sanction preventing you and Baseball Bugs from interacting or something else? Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 01:05, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I did not read the whole discussion here because of WP:TLDR (sorry), but Scjessey (talk · contribs) is banned from interacting with CoM to any stretch, so his appearance on the AFD could be a breach to his ARbCom sanction. However, CoM, you really need to take to WP:AE instead of making unnecessary dramas and pursuing your vendetta here and there.--Caspian blue 01:31, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Strange. The article of Pissing contest was created by CoM, and the AfD nominator is Sandstein who is perhaps the most active admin in WP:AE and resents CoM's criticism on him because of his previous block of CoM for one month and its overturn by User:Law. Sandstein clearly knows the Obama article probation, but does not take any action toward Scjessey's violation? SarekOfVulcan also who blocked CoM by misreading the Obama ArbCom sanction is quiet about Scjessey's breach? Well, CoM, you need to take it to WP:AE instead of making yourself getting into more troubles.--Caspian blue 01:49, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Scjessey entered the deletion discussion[19] long before coM did, and there's nothing to suggest he knew that CoM had created the article. This doesn't look like a violation to me. If anything, CoM might be in the peculiar position of being proscribed from discussing its deletion. PhGustaf (talk) 02:22, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think so. As far as my observation on several AfDs in which I and Scjessey happened to participate together, he seems to check article history whenever he participates in AfD discussion. He also already violated Obama probation by editing prohibited articles (Wikidemon warned Sj for it but did not report to WP:AE), so I'm not convinced by your defense. Moreover, he also responded to CoM within the AfD, so I think it looks like a clear violation to me.--Caspian blue 02:33, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well look what the cat dragged in! As long as that editor refrained from commenting to or about me there shouldn't be any problem. If they noted that it was an article I created and then went ahead and made an antagonistic comment towards me that would most definitely be a violation of their editing restrictions. The boundaries of which they've pushed previously and been warned about. Thanks for stopping by PhG! ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:42, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

- (outdenting)
- I don't think there's anything one-sided going on here, that's the problem.
- Re the issue on the AFD - I had no idea this was going on until you posted here.
- Caspian Blue's suggestion is worrying. I can't reject it out of hand. Let me go read the thread some more.
- One of us could take this to AE and ask that all those parties be disqualified for COI on this particular incident. Is that what you're seeking, CoM? I will do that if you want, but won't if you don't want to have it escalated. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 01:55, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I've never file for WP:AE, so I would not take action by myself. The reason that the two admins would not take an action against Scjessey (could be in favor of CoM) would be somewhat understandable given the circumstance; because they believe their blocks of CoM are not wrong and CoM is the bad guy in their eyes. Regardless, GWH, you're quite patient of CoM since you're heavily criticized by him; I told him even if he is blocked for the recent matter, prepare not to be surprised.--Caspian blue 02:16, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- George, I need to think about it. Whether you're being naive and truly don't see what's going on or not I can't honestly tell. But there's a lot about that AfD that is problematic. The absolutely clearest violation is another editor violating their editing restrictions to attack me. There's absolutely no question about it that they are in violation. I would be blocked if I did anything remotely similar. Yet we've heard nothing from either admin involved in the discussion, both of whom are familiar with the situation and who have come after me over instances that were far less clear cut (and in ways that required assumptions of bad faith on their part). I'm uncomfortable discussing it much further because it's abundantly clear that at least three of the editors and admins involved in that discussion would like to see me blocked or banned, and I don't want their baiting attempts at disruption and hounding to succeed. As you well know, hounding of that sort is tolerated from admins and editors as long as they have the right friends, and I will be blamed and gone after aggressively whatever direction the discussions take. If you choose to take appropriate action on your own, that is entirely up to you. And back to the original topic of this thread, I don't see any other AfDs that SarekofVulcan participated in around that time [20]. And he hasn't shown back up to explain his involvement or lack there of when it came to appropriate admin intervention being needed. ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:42, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Why don't you go to WP:AE since you know what should be done? I don't understand you at all; you want everyone to know your opponent's violation, but do nothing yourself. You choose to lash out your vent to wrong venues and irrelevant people. Nobody knows how you're treated unless you provide bloody diffs as evidences. You're viewed as chasing your enemies. As a result, you are currently being discussed in AN/I.--Caspian blue 02:55, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps you don't understand me because you didn't go through the experience of participating in an arbitration at the request of an arbcom; spending hours collecting diffs of the incivility and hostility that editors were subjected to by those camped out on a small group of political articles in order to push their perspective and opinions; only to see all your efforts disregarded in favor of punishing those subjected to this disgusting abuse by a clique of POV pushing thugs. I'm going to try to get back to article work now. I am also under attack at ANI now. Cheers! ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:15, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have the experience of participating in an arbitration at the request of an arbcom; spending two months collecting diffs of the incivility and hostility that editors. I was harassed by some editor during the case, but if I did not voice out for my right, well..no action would've taken place to the harasser. Perhaps, I know more about you than you know about me. So I rather want you to take real action instead of making yourself getting into more troubles. After all, you're the only person who can protect yourself.--Caspian blue 03:26, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Do you see any good coming from my reporting arbcom restriction violations? I'm not so sure it will be useful. My experience has mostly been that when I bring problems to the community's attention, those who have past grievances against me use it as an opportunity to attack. If someone else wants to take it up with the powers that be, God bless them. Plus, I don't really like to see editors blocked and banned. I think it's an ugly business all the way around, and I would prefer to see mediation and conflict resolution. All we are saying, Caspian blue, is give peace a chance! What articles are you working on these days? Do they have pissing contests or sidetracks over there? ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- To be honest, you did not spend enough time collecting diffs to convince people and gave poor presentation . As I've said many times, the only thing people see are just your rhetoric arguments without any convincing evidence. So the accused people get naturally upset and you're getting more close to Community ban. I feel irony from your comment to me; you even demanded admins to be indefinitely blocked!!! Okay, I think I just need to skip your ANI/ArbCom business from now--Caspian blue 03:49, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hahahaha. Which ones to indefinitely block first? That, is the question. ;) I don't think I have demanded that anyone be ideffed. Although it is possible that I might have made an innocent suggestion that doing so in select cases might possibly be fun. :) Who wants to spend time diff diving? Ugh. Leave it to the abusive wikilawyers. It's punishment enough for their sins. How many diffs of personal attacks and incivility was I supposed to produce? You think a few dozen more would have changed the outcome? You're such an optimist! I think you're tired or hungry. And I haven't heard much from the Doctor or Drummer. Perhaps they are nervous about Saturday's big game? ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:58, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Wikipedia:Requests for comment/ChildofMidnight, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Wikipedia:Your first article; you might also consider using the Article Wizard. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. I'm sorry if this feels like "kicking you when you're down" but you know you shouldn't have created that page the way you did. I suggest you stand by the statements you made at ANI and just keep your head down and do some article editing for a while, and try to put all this recent drama behind you. That's what I've been doing the last few days since my little excursion into drama-land, and I must say I enjoy Wikipedia a lot more when I'm not arguing with others constantly. Relighting the candle.
User:Sky Attacker told you that they would NEVER EVER return to Wikipedia, no matter what. They never will. But after a month of absense I have decided to relight my candle. Despite my best attempts at everything, announcing eternal retirement, changing my password to something random so I cannot edit again... I just cannot leave this place. Not yet, at least. I still don't now how active I will be since I do still want to decrease my online time, but if I do get to where I once was in terms of activeness on here, I've got the chance to. Except I am not merely Sky Attacker anymore. I am...well...check my signature.--The Legendary Sky Attacker (talk) 06:32, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
The drama
Yikes. I've read into a lot of drama that I've just missed involving you, Protonk, Who Then Was A Gentleman?, GeorgeWilliamHerbert, Malleus Fatourum and others. Quite a big scenario from what I can see but one thing that stands out from the whole incident is that Malleus Fatourum's block was unfair. As he states on his talk page, children really do run Wikipedia, don't they?--The Legendary Sky Attacker (talk) 07:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
You know what I think? I doubt that Who Then Was A Gentleman's account was compromised. I think those messages were the real deal. It is somewhat surprising to see a once promising editor turn around and leave "Ha ha ha ha" on the talk pages of editors that they have "won" an AN/I dispute with. The drama on Wikipedia justhas no limits does it? --The Legendary Sky Attacker (talk) 07:14, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
But how are you anyway?--The Legendary Sky Attacker (talk) 07:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Good thanks. Nice to see you again. The new moniker suits you. Not much drama really. Some people got touchy when I pointed out that Protonk shouldn't be reverting pages according to his preferences and using his admin tools to protect; Georgewilliamherbert keeps creating hostility with his harassment of content contributors; and the usual trolls and POV pushers are frolicking about; but nothing extraordinary really. The block of Malleus was particularly absurd and demoralizing. But as far as Orwellian Bizarro experiences go, it's more of the same. What are you planning on working on now that you're back? ChildofMidnight (talk) 07:20, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Probably the same things. More rollbacking (though I'll have to get the feature re-added now I have a new account to edit under), more work Afd, RfA and the other places. Maybe create some more articles. I don't know where returning will take me but I just want to see what there could be left for me on Wikipedia.--The Legendary Sky Attacker (talk) 07:28, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

I was actually supporting you guys (Malleus warned WTWAG on his talk page following the 'drama mongerer' comment). Parrot of Doom 23:44, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- I know sorry. I'm just disgusted with the whole thing. I think I refactored my comment a bit. I get frustrated when the goon squad goes after those at the receiving end of this nonsense. But I apologize for getting defensive. Take care. ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:45, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- I've reread the comments. I see there was an edit conflict so you were not responding to me. I apologize for my mistake. ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:50, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, I agree its all very silly. I often take a look at the stats of editors in places like that. Often you'll find that the majority of their edits are not in article space. Fortunately the people I have arguments with are mostly of a particular nature, and tend not to be able to back their views up. Parrot of Doom 15:57, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Arguments in deletion discussions
As per WP:AADD, simply saying WP:ITSNOTABLE without providing any evidence of sources should be avoided. LibStar (talk) 07:31, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Link? ChildofMidnight (talk) 07:32, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- you have consistently said "X is notable" without providing evidence of significant coverage in poorly referenced articles that is up for deletion. a closing admin would not think your argument would carry much weight. If you want to save articles the best method is to find actual sources. LibStar (talk) 07:37, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- CoM, to be fair, I just reviewed a bunch of your AfD comments—while certainly they show evidence of your having done some homework, they could be more effective by giving a little more of your reasoning. Bongomatic 08:51, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm happy to clarify any argument that you find inadequate. Sometimes, if it's especially self-evident, pointing out that something is notable seems sufficient. But I'm always willing to expand on the reasoning: substantial coverage in reliable independent sources. ;) ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:59, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your help to that article. He did seem notable. Durova357 17:52, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much Durova. He's done some interesting research and conference work. I think including pieces of the knowlege puzzle helps improve the overall information network. :) It seems to me that he may have focused on professional projects while others in the field achieved a higher profile by crossing over into popular culture. But I am not an expert on advanced robotics and space exploration. I'm still trying to figure out how to keep my toast from getting burnt and other problems here on earth. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:15, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Picture problem
Hey CoM. I'm in search of a free-to-use photo for Mia Dolan, an article I have just created. I found this on flikr, but it has some rights reserved. Apparently, the image is free to be shared or remixed per here but there are stated conditions that must be followed. I am not too sure what to do here. Thoughts?--The Legendary Sky Attacker (talk) 19:33, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ask the person who took it if they would be willing to change their licensing so you can use it in the article with attribution on the photopage. A message to the user would be best, because Flickr users don't always see messages left on their userpages. Not all account holders are active or responsive, so if you can make multiple requests you are likely to get at least one permission. ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:37, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)Contact the creator on Flickr and ask that the licencing be changed to allow commercial usage. Or just "Creative Commons". they may or may not do it though, but that is all you can do, unless you can take one of her on your own :D.--kelapstick (talk) 19:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks yourself, and great job
I was about to tell you you'd done a great job advancing civilization there. I was going through Google Books and got a little frustrated with the ones that provide snippets, because I can see the term used in interesting ways, but I can't get the full passage in order to be certain (and I'm not interested enough to try to find the books at the university library down the road). Franklin Roosevelt might have used the term. I have no problem at all with your edits of my edits. I'm not too certain about the order of the sections, either -- notice how we skip around from historical uses of the term to literal pissing contests and then down to the section I labeled "Metaphorical".
I've got another article on a fun subject that I'm hoping to find time for this weekend (although some more important things have come up). It has to do with a certain derogatory phrase combining an ethnic slur with an academic sleight of hand to produce a harmless fraud (don't mention the name if you've figured it out!). I've got a dozen sources already and just need the time to write it up. When I post it, I'll let you know. JohnWBarber (talk) 03:33, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- I haven't figured it out yet. The slur part is making me nervous, but I'm sure if you're working on it I don't have to worry. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:43, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I'll state up front that it's a slur, and I don't feel great that I'm giving a slur some wider circulation (that's actually something I may consider a bit longer; I'm a bit insensitive to some slurs because I love the one's against my own ethnic group). The phrase is too abstruse for any school kid to use, though, so I don't think it's going to hurt anyone to have the article. The concept is what's really interesting. It'll make an interesting DYI item. JohnWBarber (talk) 03:58, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well jeez, I didn't think you were this old! (and you'd better round up some meatpuppets, because your article is about to be deleted). And what do you have to do with Sally's Apizza, anyway? Are you in Connecticut? JohnWBarber (talk) 04:05, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- I will not affirm or deny whether I am the individual pictured in that photo. But it is undeniably a handsome shirt. ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:38, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi CoM, I was grouping defunct restaurant chains in a new category, Category:Defunct restaurant chains of the United States, and I came across this article. I can't find any information about this chain past the location mentioned in Texas. The article really needs a NPOV rewrite as well. If you or someone else wants to look into finding some sources I'd appreciate it. Shinerunner (talk) 11:32, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I can't find much about it. There does seem to be one that was in operation outside of Dallas not too long ago. And there is a chain on the East Coast that goes by the same name, and apparently another in England. It would be nice not to lose it completely, but I don't really know what to do with it, as it is problematic per lack of verifibiability and there being other subjects of the same name. The interesting bits could perhaps be covered in an article on arcades, amusement parks or gaming centers or something. I don't know. ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:58, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

- I never order chicken at a restaurant. What they served at Nanisivik turned me off that for good (not that I don't eat chicken at home). I didn't see turkey, but the pot roast was awesomepov. If they have a hot turkey I might try that next time. Do you think that this is crucial information? Can you get it up to DYK status? How is your pissing contest going?--kelapstick (talk) 18:26, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I generally agree with you on baked chicken. But fried chicken is legitimate to order unless you have an industrial deep frier in your home kitchen. Chicken pot pie and chicken soups are also acceptable. I am not a fan of meatloaf or pot roast. New Yorkers generally views those dishes as being for plebes, country folk, and Canadians. I have grown to appreciate homsetyle cooking since moving to lesser backwaters that don't have brick oven pizza and good sushi. I don't help at DYK so I stopped listing articles there. I felt that I should give in order to receive. But maybe that's silly. I have no idea what the big fuss is over pissing contests, but I'm trying to avoid skunks. I think they have had some hold-ups at Black Bear stores also, but I guess those aren't really that notable and happen everywhere. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:39, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Chicken pot pie is great, especially at whatever that place I at at in Golden was, I think it was the Roundouse or something like that. They have the largest selection of draft beer in the world (supposedly). I also had the BB meatloaf, it was only OK. I tried to make poutine the other day, but the cheese was shreaded not curd, the gravy was crap and so were the fries. Overall unsuccessful. Do you think I would get a weird look if I brought my own curd into a restaraunt? I can't find any in Nevada, but we got some at Pike Place Market when we were in Seattle.--kelapstick (talk) 19:10, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Overturn?
Since when do you object to a high-ranking elected official suspending the rules, so to speak? Are you siding with the plaintiff in Boumediene v. Bush? BTW, I wrote something that you might have something to contribute to: Zabriskie Gallery. I have no doubt that you can find some good stuff, as well as a hook for DYK. I'm counting on you! Drmies (talk) 04:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- We're not allowed to discuss high ranking officials here Drmies. There are people watching and listening... The crackdown on notable criticism is well established ,and your indiscretions will not be tolerated. As to your court case, well, war is hell. That's why I support a strategic approach to Afghanistan, but you know how Democrats are: talk a big game, rush in, muck things up, retreat, and hope someone like Nixon will clean up the mess. ;) I haven't heard from you in a while. Have you been... working? ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:37, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Did you not see the gargantuan number of awful stubs I produced tonight? BTW, I am sure all the important people will take note of your approach to Afghanistan and other world problems. Why they don't acknowledge you openly is a mystery to me. (And if war is hell--are we not still at war? and shouldn't you support your president as long as we are at war? remember the Dixie Chicks, and Sarah Palin doing the same thing, except that when she does it Toby Keith don't mind? Yeah, I thought such a 'conversation' would be best held on your talk page; mine already suffers from a lack of notability.) Drmies (talk) 04:42, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm afraid to look at what you created Doc. I'm still waiting for clarification on what kind of paper the protestant one you grew up reading in reform school competes against. Why must you hate Catholics so? Who is "they"? We largely accomplished our mission in both major conflicts. Unfortunately, a mixture of bravado, inexperience, and arrogance led to a mass intervention in areas of civil conflict where we aren't welcome and that aren't in our national interest. Are you going to get boozed up and bait me into trouble Herr Doktor? I support our troops. God bless them and keep them safe. Our leaders certainly haven't a clue how to do so. (They aren't much on running car companies, mail delivery operations, retirement savings plans, school systems, and loan businesses either). Why is it that when we have these discussions on your page they soon disappear into the archives??? I've set out a jar to raise money for your medical care. Remember when Bob Dole suggested that? Nobility in the idea and there's a lot to be said for personal responsibility, but that particular approach seemed a bit dated for contemporary circumstances. Do you even get reference like that one and the one about Crossfire? Just how long ago was it that you got off the boat? I did just see a good add about government promises regarding flu vaccines coming up a little short... Sort of like the "unemployment will not go above 8%" and "we'll close Guantanamo Bay" gags. What did you have for dinner? ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:51, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- So, it's been like five minutes, and still no CoM action here--what I do see is the ever-helpful Lady of Shalott... Drmies (talk) 04:43, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Your watchlist needs updating. ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:51, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Haha, "arduous process"--that's all cosmetic, CoM. We need expansion for DYK, expansion and juice! Bob Dole? Yeah, I remember him getting a pharmaceutically enhanced Willy Wonka. No, I am not getting boozed up--it's been a long day, which started with administering the spelling bee at a local middle school, and then a nice, long meeting at the end of the day on campus. Fun! We had great pizza for dinner, from the local place, which also operates a bakery and a coffee shop. Without them, the neighborhood wouldn't be as nice as it is. And what did you have? Drmies (talk) 05:25, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Lefse, buttered toast, grapefruit, and nachos. Lighter fare than usual, but I ate out the a couple times this week including a feast at Souplantation. How's school? Is our children learning? ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:28, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, sure they is--sometimes faster than the administrators. The two little ones are also making progress, but most of it in the walking and bike-riding fields of life, also very important. You know, I keep asking the oldest (on the weekend) what she wants for breakfast, hoping she'll FINALLY say pancakes, but no: it was grits again this morning... You make the lefse yourself? Drmies (talk) 14:38, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- The lefse was imported. It is interesting and tasty, but I don't know if it's worth the fuss. It was taking up space in the freezer so I decided to downsize it. I did make some toast this morning. TJs has some fabulous Tuscan pane (bread?) and other leavened breads that are hard to passover. ;) South Carolina is struggling against the Razorbacks. Meanwhile, I don't want you to get too upset over the Bama game today Doc. I'm confident they'll bounce back against an up and coming Chattanooga squad. And a bowl game against NC State will be a fine matchup. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:07, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

- Lefse, buttered toast, grapefruit, and nachos. Lighter fare than usual, but I ate out the a couple times this week including a feast at Souplantation. How's school? Is our children learning? ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:28, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Your watchlist needs updating. ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:51, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

- Well, congrats on your Longhorns. Close game against a real contender, almost like Florida. Strange, there were only two top-10 teams playing top-10 teams. Whoever won that game, so late in the season against a high-ranking team, must feel pretty good about themselves. Drmies (talk) 03:44, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Is this line really warranted? "The Sugar Shack doughnut shop at a Shell station on U.S. 27 in Kentucky was recognized as one of the best doughnuts in the United States in 1999. The owners, Patrick and Audrey Godin, fell in love 27 years earlier while working at a Dunkin' Donuts in Nashua, New Hampshire, where 16-year-old Patrick became an apprentice baker.[3]" Pdcook (talk) 00:41, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

- Cool. Interesting. I saw it mentions the Dutch and their use of lard for frying, which will interest Drmies. I have to run so I'll have to look at it more tomorrow. Does it discuss the coconut variety? Grundle is to blame for choosing the coconut doughnut article subject. :) I would like to work up the national types and the most notable varieities first so the article snobs won't make every one an AfD fight. But it's actually getting pretty interesting I think. I will see what google book turns up mañana. Thanks! ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:34, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

I wanted to thank you for starting the Bio page, what you did turned out to be a wonderful thing. I had just joined wiki Oct 9th and found her page deleted by vote here. I contested the deletion and was trying to show a case for inclusion, not sure why but it seemed like the right thing to do at the time, I'm new I didn't know any better I guess. Then another editor had seen my contest and created a page for her, like you did, but it was quickly deleted (He wasn't aware of the vote that took place either or the challenge I was making). I guess because of the way in which you started the page correctly at about the time I had collected some 60 odd references to show a reason for inclusion it has been allowed to remain an article now. I will be going back to add content and update it from time to time as more information about her becomes public in the future. You saved me twice because had I even been given an o.k. to write the Bio I probably wouldn't have done it correctly like you did. I'd like to give you a "Barnstar Cookie Award" for saving a rookie in time of need, not sure if they make that award but I'm sure when ever you save a "rookie" you deserve a free "cookie". Tinkermen (talk) 20:59, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I left this note for user talk:Karanacs this morning after I added the other books michele had written, thanks for the edit by the way nice to know someones watching after me. lol Note: "I added a further reading section today, but I'm not sure if adding an awards or her TV apperances section is good or not. I tried looking it up and there doesn't seem to be any guidelines for weather this is normally done or not. I have all this extra reference material in my sandbox and not really sure if I can use any of it or not". Can you let me know as we'll? Tinkermen (talk) 23:54, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- O.K. then I'm going to work on this in my sandbox and then come back when I'm ready and see what you think of the additional references/edits before I add them. That way I won't make to big of a mess on her page and it's all good and ready before it's added. ThanksTinkermen (talk) 00:23, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's going on; this is one of the most amazing things I have ever attempted to do in my life on a computer, the amount of time and detective work involved is super-cali-fragelistic-X-pee-owl-o-doe-shish. You gotta come by and baby sit me on this from day to day this week if you can. Kokoro
Kokoro, Kokoro, Kokoro. But what does any of this have to do with donuts? Think it is a Red Herring. Aymatth2 (talk) 17:32, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Kokoro is a Nigerian snack of fried maize in the shape of a finger. It's also the nickname for a blind Nigerian musician and the Japanese word for heart. And when you combine those, do you know what you get? ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:42, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Kokoro? Aymatth2 (talk) 18:24, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Small bugs causing river blindness and other eye problems can be prevented by thoroughly cooking food and water. Frying is one method of cooking and is very thorough. Doughnuts are fried. People all over the world love doughnuts. Hearts are associated with love. People with hearts love doughnuts and don't want anyone to go blind, hungry or be bugged (and also like music). Are you starting to see the big picture coming together? ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:30, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

- No picture? What are your travel plans? ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:47, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Not Nigeria. It would be much too confusing. I would get the same answer to every question. "What are those vegetables?" - "Kokoro." "What are those donut things called?" - "Kokoro." "Who is that street musician?" - "Kokoro." "Where does he come from?" - "Kokoro." "He looks ill." - "He has bad Kokoro." No more Kokoro for me... Aymatth2 (talk) 20:27, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

- Yes, we do have Tim Horton's -- I once threatened to report the lady behind the counter for pushing addictive substances as I ordered my Boston Cream donut. :-) Unfortunately, I refuse to go to the one nearest me any more, since after a particularly productive all-nighter working on a consulting project, buying coffee as I went and breakfast as soon as they started serving it, the owner told me he didn't want his 24-hour coffee shop to become a hangout, and I decided if he didn't want my business, he wouldn't have to deal with it in the future. We don't have KK around here, but I miss the HOT sign. :-( When they opened their first store in the Seattle area, there were lines out to the street for months, even in the middle of the night (I worked near there, so I speak from late-night experience :-) ). Honey Dew never really did much for me when I lived in Rhode Island, and we don't have any of them up here either. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 04:06, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
