License tagging for Image:Perrines bridge.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Perrines bridge.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:10, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

You have tagged this image as {{GFDL-self}}. Yet you also indicated it is "provided by the Town of Rosendale". Did you take the picture yourself? Unless you did, you can't tag it as GFDL. And if you did, is it exhibited online elsewhere? If so, it must be clearly licensed under the GFDL anywhere else as well.

If you got the picture from the town, they or someone else hold the copyright and it must be licensed as fair use ... in which case, it's replaceable fair use, since you or I could easily go and take a picture of it (believe me, I have) and license it freely. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:D. perrin.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 15:11, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Summaries

[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.
