Cheshire articles

Just to say thank you for all your fine work on Cheshire-related subjects. Most editors seem to have abandoned the county, and I've been feeling a bit lonely out here. I don't think the Sunday School is a church; just a listed building. Textiles mills are infrequent in my (northwest) part of the county, and I have little to add. And I'm not really into assessing importance and quality; when I write an article I usually self-assess it and wait to see what happens. And don't ask me to advise on getting stuff to FA; to me it's a mega-struggle. I've only made it twice, and my current attempt seems to have got stuck in a Wiki-mire. But good luck, and please continue with your input into Cheshire. Cheers. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 20:35, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

That was this link that I needed. Self assessment! That will clear the backlog. --ClemRutter (talk) 08:38, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Cotton

Interesting you mentioned cotton. I will be writing an article on steamboats in a couple of months and will be discussing the 19th century cotton trade. The cotton industry comes up repeatedly in economic history and the history of technology, so I am going to look at some of your writing.

My familiarity with cotton is from living in the area where it is grown. I was raised in New Orleans and had an uncle who was married to a woman who's father was on the New Orleans Cotton Exchange in the early 1900s. I've also been to several of the old plantations along the Mississippi River where I grew up. I now live on the outskirts of a small town and have cotton fields within walking distance. I even planted some in my garden last year.Phmoreno (talk) 02:46, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Good Humor
Thank you for your time on the "Shorne" page. I accept your verdict and shall take a look at Chadderton. I did go a little overboard with the photographs didn't I! I shall re-edit the page as time permits. Panjigally (talk) 16:57, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
