Cawston(Rugby)
Hi,
as you were editing this recently, thought I would ask you the question.
Do you think that this should be renamed to Cawston, Warwickshire as per other villages? As it stands it looks something like a rugby player.
Another alternative would by Cawston, Rugby.
Keith D 15:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for reply. As there is only 1 link to change I will see if it moves OK.
- No problem. Though it turned out to be a little more than expected with a redirect at Cawston that I changed into a dab page and moving the links for that page. There is a funny there that I left - several football pages refer to a Cawston, Nottinghamshire but I cannot locate such a place so I did not put it on the dab page.
- To rename a page you click on the Move tab. But it does not work if the destination page has already been used. Also you have to move the talk pages as well. (I have not tried one with talk pages as yet.)
Bridgestone
Nice work on this article, it's coming along well. When I first started on it some time ago it was very plain and not much info. Your newest entries have added a lot of good information. Well Done. Mobile 01 23:44, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Mediation request
A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible.
Request for Mediation
The case has been rejected by the Mediation Committee as you did not demonstrate good-faith in the mediation process, as your comments with the agreement were, although unsure about the process (have read help page but not sure what happens from here!). Regards, Shyam (T/C) 19:28, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Please see: User_talk:Shyam_Bihari#Hello can you remove that comment on the mediation page? From my perspective, there seems to be some confusion about your comment.
- As per: Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Firestone_Tire_and_Rubber_Company#Parties.27_agreement_to_mediate: Only signatures and "agree" or "disagree" should appear here; any comments will be removed.

No probs. Figured a category would help - there are a few orphaned articles on Christadelphian related topic, so this should help to some degree. Woofboy 11:09, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Weston Under Wetherley infobox
HI! I just added the "places" infobox to the Weston Under Wetherley article. Since I am completely clueless about this location, many of the details may be wrong (I simply copied it from the nearest town and then adjusted the latitude and longitude and removed the postal code.) If you would, please refine the details. Thanks. -Arch dude 01:12, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Your WIkipedia skin problem
Hi. If you want to change your Wikipedia skin back to monobook (which is the default) go to Special:Preferences, click "Skin," click "Monobook" and then click "Save." --Iamunknown 20:49, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help but I have done that and it just doesn't work. I am getting desperate now. When I try to save it it doesn't work. I have even done the Control + F5 thing. Any more ideas? Cls14 20:53, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- You say that when you save it does not work. Try clicking the radio button next to "Monobook (default)". Then click "Save". When you refresh the page and go back to the "Skin" menu, that radio button should still be selected. Is it? --Iamunknown 20:57, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- No sadly it doesn't I've tried that and followed all the help page instructions. Might have to give up unless you have anymore ideas or know any moderator who can help me. Cls14 21:02, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Have you tried clicking on "reset"? Have you switched off your computer between changing it and now? If all else fails, you should ask at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:10, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I assume that you are in Internet Explorer since you are using Control + F5. Go to a page other than Wikipedia. Select the dropdown menu "Tools". Then under the section labeled "Browsing history", select "Delete". Then click "Delete all". Then, finally click "Yes". (This works if you are in IE7.) --Iamunknown 21:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
No problem. I'm glad to hear your skin works again. I know I can't live without the monobook skin! --Iamunknown 21:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Glad to hear it's OK, and that you didn't throw the computer out of the window. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:11, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

As my User page indicates, I've got quite a wide range of editing interests — but I've not had much time for anything substantial recently, because of admin stuff. I'm trying to cut down on that, but it's not easy. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Where are we?
A lot has transpired on this discussion so far and I am wondering if we are actually getting anywhere with the mediation. Could the mediator give a response of his opinions of just where we are at and what if any decisions/suggestions/agreements have been agreed so far. Thanks. Mobile 01Talk 22:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ive been busy. I'm more interested in your view about where things are at. -Stevertigo 06:20, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
I believe we have decided that the Liberian article ramains seperate and that we do not merge Firestone with Bridgestone. I think we have also covered what is POV and NPOV. I have made some changes to the article last night and today, adding a few images and cleaning up some of the duplicated statements. Please everyone have a look at the current article and offer your opinions. If everyone is happy then we can close this out and let the mediator get on with other issues. Mobile 01Talk 22:54, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick reply on the mediation page, I understand that you feel out of your depth but we are all the same really. You were basically brought in to the mediation because you had edited the Bridgestone article recently and as such we wanted your opinions. Right now though we just need to know if the current appearance and content of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company article meets with your approval or if you think it still needs editing. If everyone agrees then we can close the mediation.

Anglesey
Thanks for your message on my talk page. Yes, I have some Anglesey connections so I'm there fairly frequently. Some recent photos I took are stuck on a computer there, so there'll be a delay before I can add a couple of photos to articles about Anglesey. I'll have another look through your list in more detail later and see whether I can think of anything to add. Plas Newydd is rather poor at present, and I'd like to improve that. Any particular suggestions / requests? Bencherlite 18:45, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Nice. I've got the NT guidebook here, so will try to add more at some point - I'll also try to find a photograph of the house as seen from the Menai, as the current photograph doesn't do justice to the excellent location. Bencherlite 11:30, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- I spotted a book recently on Anglesey Railways, and might just treat myself to it now so that I can help with that topic! Bencherlite 11:46, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

(New point about Anglesey) I don't think that you should be adding Category:Anglesey to articles that are already in Category:Villages in Anglesey - that 'Villages' cat is a sub-cat of the Anglesey cat, so you fall foul of WP:CAT#Guidelines no.3 about over-categorization. - No problem - as you'd only done a few, I thought I'd let you know before you "ran wild" (and you'll have spotted that I undid the changes for you as well - all part of the service!) Bencherlite 18:17, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Joseph Chamberlain Memorial Clock Tower
Hi. I noticed that you originally added the weight of the main bell to the Joseph Chamberlain Memorial Clock Tower article. Hi. The reason is, its generally preferable to have images at commons rather that on Wikipedia. That way, if one of the non-English Wikipedia's wish to use the image (for example fr:Donald Bradman), they can link to it the same way we do. The Wikimedia software is clever enough to look for the image file name in commons first, and then in the local Wikipedia. The only proviso is that Commons will only accept images with free licenses, such as public domain. —Moondyne 03:36, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean when you say I took the image "off his page". It still appears on Donald Bradman that I can see. —Moondyne 05:45, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Me To You Bears
Hey, not a problem. Searching for news items where they are mentioned would be a good start. Also I see you have a list of articles you've created/added to - if you want to link the pics in, but don't want them to appear inline, you can do that by prepending a colon. So, for example [[:Image:NewCubbington.jpg]] shows as Image:NewCubbington.jpg — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 01:08, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SoupBeautifulSouth.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SoupBeautifulSouth.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:31, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Right Now (John Cena song)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Right Now (John Cena song), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Right Now (John Cena song). contribsSTYROFOAM☭1994TALK 15:16, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Ian Lawson (footballer born 1939)
Hi. Just noticed your article Ian Lawson (footballer born 1939) on the newpages log and have added a small introduction to prevent it from being deleted. I wasn't sure whether you knew this, but if you want to start an article, then add text later, you can place the {{underconstruction}} template at the top of the page. This will tell other editors that you intend to do some more work on it. Cheers and happy editing. Paul20070 (talk) 16:45, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Guilsborough School
Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Guilsborough School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 18:03, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo nisa.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Logo nisa.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Image copyright problem with Image:TraethYrOraSouth.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:TraethYrOraSouth.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

Reverting your Time Cube edits
Hello! Saying that Ray's arguments have "little merit" and that he "may perhaps be mentally unstable" appears to be your own original research, which isn't appropriate for Wikipedia. If you can get a quote of a reliable source saying either of those things, that would be fine, but Wikipedia isn't the place for editors' own opinions of individuals, however clearly mad they might be. (There can be some scope for stating the obvious, but never on a biography article - any potentially negative statements must be sourced, as per WP:BLP.) Hope this helps. --McGeddon (talk) 23:35, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Although I am aware of this and do strive 99.9% of times to uphold such standards I will have to disagree here, but bow to the majority view. This page does actually make his theory seem quite serious, which clearly it is not. The one failure of Wikipedia is perhaps inversely (I can't spell sorry!) its strength, the need to reference. If the obvious cannot be stated because it's never been written before then how can an article be accurate? But anyhow, I ramble and accept your argument! Cls14 (talk) 23:44, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Cls14! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Moving categories
The technical steps for moving a category are: (1) create a new category page; (2) edit all pages in the original category to place them in the new category; and (3) category redirect or, more commonly, delete the original category page.
In practice, if there is consensus at Categories for discussion to move a category, the editor who closes the discussion will list the request at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Working (example). Then, a bot (User:Cydebot) automatically performs all three steps listed above. Cheers, -- Black Falcon (talk) 17:05, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Or, if the category name change meets one of the speedy renaming criteria, then one can simply nominate the category on that page. Again, it will be processed by an administrator and added to Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Working for a bot to handle, but the request will be processed in 48 hours (if there are no objections) instead of the standard 7 days. -- Black Falcon (talk) 18:05, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

However the article The Silence (song) was reverted for a reason - it is not notable and it no longer serves as the album's fourth single.Lil-unique1 (talk) 21:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
No arguments there. I just moved it from somewhere random (goodness knows how I found it!) to its own page for someone like yourself to assess it :-) Cls14 (talk) 22:46, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Image of Polluted Stream on Anglesey
You have put up an image in Water pollution captioned as a copper polluted stream on Anglesey. I assume that this is one of the two rivers called Afon Goch which both drain the Parys Mountain complex. If so, it is true that both rivers contain some copper but they also contain vastly greater concentrations of Iron and are both highly acidic. What the image shows is the iron staining and it would not be possible to infer from the image the presence of copper. There are highly copper polluted rivers in the world which are visibly polluted with copper and these tend to be green or blue in colour. I think a more appropriate caption would be A polluted river draining an abandoned copper mine on Anglesey, Velela Velela Talk 06:40, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
It's actually a small watercourse from the Mountain to Amlwch, not as far as I am aware one of the Goch's. I've changed the title of the photo however as you've requested :-) Cls14 (talk) 14:32, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

- I do not know how to get grid references :-( However if you type Stryd Wesley, Amlwch into Google Maps and see where the road meets the old Anglesey Central Railway, I took the photo about 100 yards to the west looking south. The stream runs north to south and you can see it (its orange, lol) running under the road. Hope that helps! Cls14 (talk) 08:55, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Hector Chicken
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hector Chicken, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Cindamuse (talk) 13:52, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Autopatrolled
Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:
- This permission does not give you any special status or authority
- Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
- You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
- If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
- If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 18:51, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Acalamari 09:46, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Kitty GYM, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Japanese and Thai (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Playbox Theatre Company has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- non notable amateur company, fails WP:OPG
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jezhotwells (talk) 16:21, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Non-free rationale for File:TheChristadelphian.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TheChristadelphian.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:51, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

copyright
You asked a question at Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#Photograph_copyright which was answered. I just wanted to emphasize, because I missed it a couple years ago, that the photographs has to be published before 1923, which complicates things, because sometimes it is easy to establish that the photograph was taken before 1923, but it not always easy to confirm when it was first published. When I first ran across the rules a couple years ago, I mistakenly equated the publishing date and the date the picture was taken.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 02:04, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

"It was announced"
To answer your question, I just don't see why articles have to be full of references to how things "were announced". Why not just say "Fred Smith signed for Example F.C."? I see you're a member of WikiProject Wales and have contributed to Welsh articles. There's a new project, Llwybrau Byw!|Living Paths! under development which you might be able to contribute to. Lonely Planet rated the coast of Wales "the best region on Earth" in 2012, yet there is a very low number of articles on the history and culture of places along the Coastal Path and the many and various activities and attractions. This promises to be an exciting project as it gathers momentum with many Users joining in. Let's make this WikiProject, like the path itself, the best on earth! You have been named in a proposed ArbCom decision
Hi, Cls14. In the open Manning naming dispute case, a decision has been proposed which relates to you. The Arbitration Committee is voting on the proposals, and discussion is taking place on the talk page. If you have any comments or concerns, you should respond at the talk page. For the Arbitration Committee, Rschen7754 05:12, 9 October 2013 (UTC).
This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:
- Hitmonchan (talk · contribs) is indefinitely topic-banned from all pages relating to any transgender topic or individual, broadly construed.
- IFreedom1212 (talk · contribs) is indefinitely topic-banned from all pages relating to any transgender topic or individual, broadly construed.
- Tarc (talk · contribs) is indefinitely topic-banned from all pages relating to any transgender topic or individual, broadly construed.
- Josh Gorand (talk · contribs) is indefinitely topic-banned from all pages relating to any transgender topic or individual, broadly construed.
- Baseball Bugs (talk · contribs) is indefinitely topic-banned from all pages relating to any transgender topic or individual, broadly construed. He is also topic banned from all pages (including biographies) related to leaks of classified information, broadly construed.
- David Gerard (talk · contribs) is admonished for acting in a manner incompatible with the community's expectations of administrators (see #David Gerard's use of tools).
- David Gerard (talk · contribs) is indefinitely prohibited from using his administrator permissions (i) on pages relating to transgender people or issues and (ii) in situations involving such pages. This restriction may be first appealed after six months have elapsed, and every six months thereafter.
- The standard discretionary sanctions adopted in Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Sexology for (among other things) "all articles dealing with transgender issues" remain in force. For the avoidance of doubt, these discretionary sanctions apply to any dispute regarding the proper article title, pronoun usage, or other manner of referring to any individual known to be or self-identifying as transgender, including but not limited to Chelsea/Bradley Manning. Any sanctions imposed should be logged at the Sexology case, not this one.
- All editors, especially those whose behavior was subject to a finding in this case, are reminded to maintain decorum and civility when engaged in discussions on Wikipedia, and to avoid commentary that demeans any other person, intentionally or not.

Hi, I am new to Wikiproject Japan and was just reading through it's "Proposed new or updated articles" when I came upon your post. Somebody has categorized this page as one of the public holidays in Japan, but I don't think that is correct. It is more of a remembrance day with a few speeches given and a few events held than a national holiday type of thing. My personal experience is that it is pretty business as usual for most of Japan, with a few events being held in Tokyo and maybe some other big cities. Also, the part about Obon has nothing to do with this day other than that August 15 tends to fall with in the same time period. For what it's worth, Obon is also not a National holiday. It's sort of like Christmas here, celebrated by some but not a Japanese holiday; It is more like a summer break for some companies and people. Not sure if that helps any. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:05, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Your reverting of my edit on Jason Statham
I'm aware of what Wikipedia says on partners, but that is not the same as what the Infobox person template says.
From Template:Infobox person:
“ | For unmarried life partners (of any gender or sexual preference), not business partners. Use the format Name (1950–present) for current partner and Name (1970–1999) for former partner(s). | ” |
A girlfriend is not a life partner, as a life partner "is a romantic or otherwise very close friend for life", where as these two girlfriends haven't shown any signs of this criteria. If he were to have been engaged to one of them, or had a kid with one of them, maybe they could be called life partners. But as it stands, they aren't. We can't list every girlfriend notable people have, or some infoboxes (*cough* Leonardo DiCaprio) would be a mile long. Girlfriends should stay in the "personal life" section.
