George Veitch
[edit]I've checked my references and according to Pitcher Plants of Borneo (2008), the species was named after James Veitch, so this must have been a mistake on my part. I've edited the article accordingly. Cheers, mgiganteus1 (talk) 15:07, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Since you saw fit to propose removing this category can you please also propose removing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Bohemian_F.C._international_footballers ? Shamrock Rovers have the higher number of international footballers in league history and it is a frequently requested piece of information from the club, hence why we created the category in the first place, so the Bohemian F.C. category is clearly less noteworthy I'm sure you'll agree. If you want to ensure that no such category exists in wikipedia then please feel free to go ahead and do so, if not then we'll re-create the category since it is used by other clubs in the country. Cheers, --Albert.white (talk) 13:20, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi DK
I've been working on 1923 FA Cup Final this week. I noticed from the project booklist that you've got the two FA Cup history books, and was wondering if they has anything about this particular final that isn't already included........?
Cheers!!! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:11, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- That's brilliant - thanks a million for that! And I will go through and take a look at my date formatting later today - cheers for the tip! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:08, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Great project! I've added what little information I have to the page on Harold John Fleming. I'm new to this -- so perhaps you had better check if it needs pruning, rearranging, or reinstating.

Hi, happened to notice what you were to able to supply from your books for the 1923 final and was wondering if you could possibly do likewise for 1956, which Oldelpaso and I have been working on and which is currently up for peer review. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 08:16, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Could you give me the page number for that? we might find a use for it. And thanks for taking the trouble to have a look. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:06, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I saw your post on the Japan Project talk page about Horoizumi. I have contributed to a number of the articles on the area. I lived for a short time in what is now Shinhidaka. If you have any questions about the area, I may be able to be of some use. imars (talk) 11:10, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Nice and thorough article but ... he introduced 500 species .... I propose that the "green trees" are not the most photogenic for pulling in punters on the main page? (None of them were smelly or ugly? Halloween is another angle) cheers Victuallers (talk) 14:29, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
allfootballers.com
[edit]Just to confirm following your edits to Donald Cock - you have full access to allfootballers.com? If so I may come tapping on your door occasionally to fill out incomplete infoboxes for pre-war Arsenal players, if that's OK with you... Qwghlm (talk) 09:06, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. Here's a first one - did ex-Arsenal manager Leslie Knighton have any sort of League playing career? I can't find anything from reliable sources. Thanks. Qwghlm (talk) 09:57, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- Also when you have time if you could check up on James McEwen as well? Thanks! Qwghlm (talk) 10:35, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I am a distant cousin of Jack's and was wondering where you obtained his date of death. I have a couple of cigarette cards of his, which may be free of copyright, but don't know how to upload images. Another cousin has a photograph of him wearing his England Cap could try and get in touch for a copy. MBorrill (talk) 20:36, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
The list of Mutisia species given in the article is only a list of those species articles that have been created. Those species articles were all created by bot from a list of endangered species, so only the world's rarest species are currently listed. You therefore have lots of room for expanding and improving the article with your efforts. --EncycloPetey (talk) 02:26, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi - I don't know whether or not I am talking to the right person, but no-one has posted the DYK messages on the article talk pages nor to the user pages for the current front page. Is this something you can help with - I must declare an interest as two articles that I created are featured. Cheers. --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 18:42, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

- Your two credits are at Template:Did_you_know/Queue/5#Credits. They should be posted here shortly. I think they are trying to get a bot to do the actual credit posting, so there may be some delays initially. -- Suntag ☼ 18:55, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Another allfootballers.com request
[edit]Could you take a look at Leonard Thompson (footballer)? The article was created by one of his descendants who would appreciate more information about their great-grandfather - I've fleshed it out with some career details but lack stats for his clubs other than Arsenal. Date formats
[edit]Hi,
I see from your edit of Southampton F.C. that you corrected the date formats. I suspect that you did this by hand. You may not be aware that there is a handy tool that will audit the dates for an article. It has several buttons and in one click you can set all dates to 'dmy' format. If you want to use it just add
importScript('User:Lightmouse/monobook.js/script.js');
to the User:Daemonic Kangaroo/monobook.js then clear your cache using the instructions on that page (press Ctrl-Shit-R in firefox). Then when you have a page in edit mode, look for the blue text at the left of the page below 'What links here'. You will see a button called 'All dates to dmy' in blue. Just click it and it will detect all the dates and reformat them.
I hope that helps. Any questions, just ask me. Regards Lightmouse (talk) 13:13, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Harry McGregor (goalkeeper), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Harry McGregor (footballer). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:38, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Jack Wilcox
[edit]Just created a stub on Jack Wilcox, more to practise with the new infobox format than anything else, really. He was one of yours in your pre-Football League days, so if there's anything you can add, feel free... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:15, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Do your books put him at Halesowen between Dudley and V*lla? because Joyce doesn't, and the other source doesn't, so if it's only Matthews I'll remove it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:10, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I notice a bot report for copyright violations at Harry McGregor (goalkeeper). Did you write Harry McGregor (goalkeeper) yourself or did you copy text (written by someone else) from a deleted version of Harry McGregor (footballer) to this new page? I'm sorry I must ask because the history of Harry McGregor (footballer) is quite confusing. If need be, we will neeed to merge the histories of these two pages for GFDL reasons. Best, --PeaceNT (talk) 03:51, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for the detailed account! As things are now clear (to me :)), I've selected an appropriate version of Harry McGregor (footballer) and merged it with the history of page Harry McGregor (goalkeeper). This history-merging process probably seems bureaucratic to you, but it is a copyright requirement. :) Next time, you may fulfill GFDL by asking the original writer to re-create the article (applicable only in case there is one writer). Cut&paste move in general should be avoided, but no worries if you accidentally move a page by ut&pasting. It happens! :) A bot will often remind us about copyright, then you may file a request for fixing at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Take care, --PeaceNT (talk) 12:12, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit]You recently nominated a trio of articles that I created for DYK - thanks for that. Could you do me a big favour? I have just created an article about another orchid, Odontoglossum crispum, which I think merits an entry on DYK, but I'm struggling to find a good hook. The article is looking great, I was hard pressed to find any mistakes. My only suggestion would be to try and locate a couple of other sources for the description section - I think it draws too heavily on the one source given its length. It's not a bad idea to ask for comments at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Plants, there is expertise there that goes way beyond what I can offer. Melburnian (talk) 05:06, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi DK - another date of birth lookup, if you have the time. This fella played for Newton Heath in the 1890s, and is a different person (probably) to the Woolwich Arsenal right back John Graham (footballer born 1873). I need a year of birth to disambiguate if possible, could you look up the info for me? Thanks. Qwghlm (talk) 13:41, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
