Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Dennisprosus. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Prosus, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Edwardx (talk) 12:20, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Request reason:
PhilKnight, it isn't fair to block me as the only thing I did was removing a false claim on the Prosus and OLX pages. I'm all for everybody being able to contribute, but the added block simply isn't true. If there is a better way to contest this, do let me know. Dennisprosus (talk) 10:41, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
Accept reason:
Following the discussion below, I have unblocked. PhilKnight (talk) 14:49, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
Are you employed by Prosus? PhilKnight (talk) 10:47, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- I am, but does that bar me from removing fake news? If so, fine, but how do we protest certain additions like these? Dennisprosus (talk) 11:01, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- The relevant guideline and policy is WP:COI and WP:PAID. Essentially, you should declare your paid status and request edits on the article talk page. PhilKnight (talk) 12:48, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know PhilKnight. I will defintely do that. If I promise not to edit anything until then, could you please unblock me? Would be most appreciated. (Really didn't know, as I'm new to this). Dennisprosus (talk) 14:45, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- I have unblocked you on the basis that you will declare your paid status and use edit requests. PhilKnight (talk) 14:49, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Really appreciate it, Phil. Thank you! Dennisprosus (talk) 14:53, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
