That userpage of yours will be deleted again. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 19:34, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On the talk page of this article, you state that "I have this fake game on my page on Deviant Art.com and on Notepad. I have it on one a Corpse Bride fan page on Deviant Art.com. ". As the only reason that I un-deleted this article was so that you could move the content elsewhere, this appears to have been achieved, and I have re-deleted the article in accordance with Wikipedias policies. The goal of wikipedia is to host encyclopedic content, and provide the necessary collaborative resources towards that goal. As you have been linked to at least once times WP:NOTWEBHOST explains why a.) I deleted your article and b.) will continue to delete it if it is re-created. Additionally, you said " I don't need a reliable source because I'm the source." I encourage you to read Wikipedias reliable sources guidelines. In response to your claim that "Many people put fake things on Wikipedia.", you are encourage to locate and identify these things, and I will gladly delete them as well. Hope this helps explain things! Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 01:27, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion and blocking, and communication

[edit]
  • Only admins can delete pages, and only admins can "block" people (blocking means that the blocked editor can't edit anything at all)
  • You can't personally block anyone from editing your userpages
  • When an admin deletes a page then they're doing that in accordance with Wikipedia's policies, and not randomly -- if your page was deleted and you can't understand why then you should feel free to ask for an explanation or clarification (instead of re-creating the page -- that will only get you in trouble).

Also, please, feel free to actually respond to messages left on your talk page. Right here. Post your comment under the comment you're replying to. Communication is important. And people who have posted here probably have this page on their watchlist, so they will see if you respond here. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 10:25, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --Donovan delaney (talk) 16:11, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Because I just put it on here!! could you stop deleting my pages. Every time I make a page someone keeps puting a tag on it or deletes it. Am I not allowed to right on here!?? I once had a page called Donovan delaney/sandbox/The Corpse Bride Video Game. But it was deleted four times. I wan't it back by the way! Donovan delaney (talk) 16:11, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You were told multiple times- your made up game isn't suitable for Wikipedia, and so you should take the text and move it to another place, like a webhost. Wikipedia is not a web host, WP:NOTWEBHOST. Also, you were given an opportunity to retrieve the full text, and you decided to post it on Wikipedia instead. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:13, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any specific reason why you're not reading or reacting to messages left on your talk page? Is it too much text? Too many template-messages? Do you understand what we mean by saying that "Wikipedia is not a webhost"? Or is it confusing? Please respond here. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 16:37, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There was a discussion at the Teahouse that they were involved in. @Chrislk02: restored the sandbox so they could get the text, but told them not to publish it again, and move it somewhere off-wiki to store it- instead they published it again, and it got deleted. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:40, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I saw all of that. I'm just trying to get them to actually respond to messages on their own talk page. Communication is important but I'm afraid all these template messages are having a counter-productive effect. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 16:48, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I did my best to go above and beyond on to a.) give them a chance to retrieve the content and b.) explain why it was inappropriate. I am disappointed that this was the way it played out. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 17:32, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.  Jayron32 17:07, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

He made legal threat at his sandbox, and got blocked. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:53, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If my page:Donovan delaney/sandbox/the Corpse Bride Video Game, had not been deleted in the first place then none of this would have happened and I wouldn't have been blocked. It's Wikipedia's fault that I got blocked. Donovan delaney (talk) 21:23, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You can't host that kind of material here, because that is not what Wikipedia is for. You may refuse to understand that but it's still true. We have rules here.
And one of those rules is "No legal threats" -- anyone who makes a legal threat is not allowed to edit Wikipedia (i.e. they are blocked) until the matter has been resolved. I don't know what exactly you said because I can't see deleted pages, but if you want to be unblocked then you will have to take back the threat. I assume that you didn't really mean it, whatever you said.
And you should probably also confirm that you understand WP:NOTWEBHOST: "...Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia. ... user pages should not function as personal webpages or be repositories for large amounts of material that is irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia.
If you can't or refuse to abide by Wikipedia's policies then you will not be allowed to edit here, it's that simple. It is completely understandable that as a new user you were not aware of these rules. But now you are. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 10:13, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's still Wikipedia's fault that my page got deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donovan delaney (talkcontribs)

Yes, fine, it's totally Wikipedia's "fault". Do you understand the rules or not? Do you even want to get unblocked? — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 16:10, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I want unblocked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donovan delaney (talkcontribs)

If you want to be unblocked, you need to do two things 1) Retract the legal threat you made, unambiguously. And 2) Agree to stop creating inappropriate pages at Wikipedia, and instead assure us that you intend to help out and make the encyclopedia better. --Jayron32 16:19, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how to do that. How do I do that?? Oh and my page was not inappropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donovan delaney (talkcontribs)

1) Tell us, in clear terms, you don't intend to call the police as you threatened to do. 2) Yes it was, and as long as you continue to think that it was not, we don't need you here anymore. Please review some of the basic principles of Wikipedia by reading through Wikipedia:Five pillars, and reconsider why Wikipedia needs your help. --Jayron32 16:39, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That's not an answer to my question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donovan delaney (talkcontribs)

This discussion is not going anywhere and we're not required to have an endless debate with a disruptive user who refuses to get the point. If you can't understand what we're asking of you then you're welcome to remain blocked and maybe come back in a few years.
But here's the summary for you again, it consists of two separate points:
1) You made a legal threat (in a page that is now deleted) and we have a strict policy about legal threats, and this is why you got blocked. According to that policy, to become unblocked, you need to say clearly (right here on the talk page) that you take back the threat, you take back what you said and say that you didn't mean it, that you didn't report anyone to any authorities and that you're not planning to do it. (If you actually are then you have to remain blocked, it's for the best.)
2) You have to confirm that you understand that Wikipedia is not deviantart: you can not host random content here, not even on your own userpages.
— Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 19:01, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I do understand the rules. Saying that I have rights was not a threat. Ok. I understand. But I want 2 see we're sorry for the deletion and the blocking. Oh and Sorry, and if you could block the mean person that did the deletion, from my page. Oh Unblock me, sorry, for what me did, I am, ― Yoda.Donovan delaney (talk) 03:49, 26 May 2015 (UTC)Donovan delaney (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donovan delaney (talkcontribs) [reply]

Sorry but we're not sorry for deleting those specific pages nor for blocking you in accordance with the "No legal threats" policy. I'm going to ask an admin to look at what you really said here since you seem to have forgotten. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 15:44, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We're saying you made a legal threat because you said "You can't block me. If you block me I'm call the police." in your sandbox page. That's the threat that you had to take back. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 18:32, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I already did that. I did take it back. Duh. Lol[[User:Donovan delaney|(talk) 04:18, 27 May 2015 (UTC)Donovan delaney (talk) 04:19, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A summary of some important site policies and guidelines

[edit]

I see that you keep creating articles such as "corpse bride emily" with almost no content -- stop doing that. If you want to create an article, make sure you have at least two sources that are independent of the subject, are high-quality sources like books by college professors or professional newspapers, and are specifically about the article subject. Make sure that the article material doesn't belong in an article that already exists. Make sure that you have actually written the article before creating it (no "to be continued"). Also, do not sign your contributions to article space. Yes, you sign your contributions to talk pages, but not to article space.

Speedy deletion nomination of Emily corpse

[edit]

Hello Donovan delaney,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Emily corpse for deletion, because it seems to be a test. Did you know that the Wikipedia Sandbox is available for testing out edits?

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Nicky mathew (talk) 00:51, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Donovan, you need to draft the article before sending it out into articlespace. Go to User:Donovan delaney/sandbox and finish working on an article there before putting it into article space. Ian.thomson (talk) 00:58, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you're back to creating inappropriate pages. You need to be careful if you don't want to get blocked again. Wikipedia articles need to be on notable topics and need to include reliable sources as references, and need to be written in a neutral tone. Also you're not supposed to add your signature in articles. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 08:15, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted page

[edit]

I've deleted the talk page, but ultimately I thought I'd explain some of the reasons why the page was deleted. One was that at its time of deletion the only content was a source that referenced you. I do see where you'd had a paragraph of content earlier, but for some reason you blanked this. That's the main reason it was tagged as a test page and was deleted.

That said, I'm not opposed to a character page for Emily the Corpse Bride as long as you can show how this character has been the subject of coverage that focuses on her specifically in the same manner that there's coverage for Katniss Everdeen or Hermoine Granger. You cannot use things like movie reviews or WP:PRIMARY sources to show notability since they really only mention her in relation to the film itself. What you need are news articles, academic journals, and book mentions that are independent of the film that go into depth about her character. Since Burton is a popular director it's possible that these could exist.

I do, however, have to caution you about making this page in the mainspace. In May you were blocked because you made legal threats concerning the deletion of a sandbox article you created about a fake game based on Corpse Bride. You did retract the legal threats and you are unblocked, but right now I'd recommend that you just be a little extra cautious about making pages. Instead of making pages in the mainspace, make one in your userspace at User:Donovan delaney/Emily the Corpse Bride and when you're finished, ask someone if it's ready for the mainspace. Part of the condition for your unblocking was that you not create inappropriate pages and while your intent might be to create a fully informational page on the character, creating one in the mainspace before the page is actually ready for the mainspace can be seen as inappropriate.
