Turtle Soup

Hey there buddy! Long time no talk. What are your thoughts on turtle soup?

Anyway, it's nice to see you still going away at wiki'ing, I've come back for gradual posts now and again. Either way, I've begun working on a new template type. I'm trying to look into the possibilities of a live update/java type application. thoughts?

Cheers. 150.176.164.16 (talk) 13:45, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

I should note, this was made by me from a different location. Thought I was logged in. XD -CamT|C 19:35, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello Dreaded

I came across this list of content filtering software. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Content_Control_Software

My company, mobicip.com, offers web content filtering as a service for specific platforms that children use like gaming devices, smartphones and netbooks. Would it be a violation of the Wikipedia policy if I, one of the founders of Mobicip, added Mobicip to the list? Admittedly, the list itself is a listing of commercial providers of such software or services.

If yes, as a neutral editor, can you update the list with a link to Mobicip.com? I'll be happy to go by your guidance in either case.

Thanks Mobicipc (talk) 07:27, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Generally, in order to restrict the list to being a list of notable software, rather than a list of every such software in the world (which I'm sure you would agree would look quite messy), I think the quick and easy cut-off point is those products with articles. If a product is deemed notable enough to have an article, then we add it to the list. If the article is deleted, then the link is removed.
This way, parents (and other users) can find out information about said product by going to an article and reading about it before going to a site (because, as I'm sure you are aware, there are many malware products out there that pretend to be legitimate products).
Before this unofficial rule was in place, the list was very messy. A bunch of links with no idea for the user which ones are trustworthy, which ones are good, and so on.
So basically, if you feel that your product or company is notable enough to have its own article, go ahead and create one! Usually we recommend editors to not make edits in which they have a conflict of interest, but if you are able to cite your work to reliable sources and ensure the tone of the article is not promotional and be objective about the article, then it is a good start, and we can add it to the list. If you need any further help, don't hesitate to ask. :) Dreaded Walrus t c 14:45, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Dear Dreaded,

Can you, please, specify what should I do, in order to improve tone of the articles about Fun Dial and Fun Broker?
You have noted, that article or section may not be appropriate for Wikipedia, so I'm wondering why and what steps have to be taken in order to comply to Wikipedia standards?

I have read the article "Writing better articles" and tried to follow listed requirements... Please let me know on what exactly should be updated or changed.

I hope, you noticed that Fun Dial is one of the leading implementations for ringback tone service in the world, like saying Voicemail without recalling Comverse Technology...

Best Regards,

The problem that I tagged those pages for is the tone in which they are written. They don't read like encyclopedia articles. This applies especially to Fun Dial, and it gets worse the further down you go in each article. Dreaded Walrus t c 00:23, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

keep cool and work the huggle-user. this ip ll be blocked after level 4 (level 3 on his disk) but if well roll back him every time the huggleboys haven t a chance ;), --Jan eissfeldt (talk) 23:49, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Hah. He's got the level 4 warning now, though in such blatant cases like this (and it's a dynamic IP. This happens regularly) I don't see why they even need to wait for the level 4, really... Dreaded Walrus t c 23:52, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
yeah, i ve seen your top reactions. level 4, well iv learned it by one story on es.WP. the admin on the vm there said "level 3? forget it". so i ve a nice spamwar, 8 days ;), best regards --Jan eissfeldt (talk) 23:55, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
And he's blocked. 31 hours. It won't stop him though. He's on a dynamic IP. See 189.81.205.136 and 189.81.132.199, who you've reverted in the past it seems. I just feel sorry for whichever poor guy has Copyright, Google, and Orkut on their watchlists. :P Dreaded Walrus t c 00:02, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
hehe, yeah. rangeblock is right but that is not my problem ;). it s after migthnight in hamburg. sleep well and best regards, --Jan eissfeldt (talk) 00:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Your revert

Heh, that was my bad. I didn't see the difference between "Rogue" and "Rouge". Thanks for correcting me. Xclamation point 22:58, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
