[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Characters of the Half-Life series, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. -- ferret (talk) 13:42, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- To clarify, you may add unambiguous plot information, but not interpretations or hunting the game files. Aaron Liu (talk) 15:02, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- I see. So the mention of the Keller animation was not acceptable; was "Another citizen tells Freeman that they had heard that he was there when Odessa Cubbage took down the Combine Gunship, suggesting that Cubbage took credit for Freeman's actions during the gunfight at New Little Odessa" also inappropriate? Thanks, Estreyeria (talk) 17:50, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- No, it isn't. When you start writing prose like "suggesting that", you're making a guess on the content. This is original research. The most you could say purely from plot is
Another citizen tells Freeman that they had heard that he was there when Odessa Cubbage took down the Combine Gunship
. But that is rather trivial and would not belong in the list. Similarly, while the manual may show the to-do list of Barney, everything about "suggesting a wife or girlfriend" is pure speculation. -- ferret (talk) 18:04, 22 March 2024 (UTC)- I think that you could say that
Another citizen credits him for taking down the Combine Gunship
. Aaron Liu (talk) 20:04, 22 March 2024 (UTC)- Yes, but without context it makes no sense to mention it. -- ferret (talk) 20:31, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
