Week 5 / HelloWorld9272
For week 5 I edited two articles. The frist one is Scrum (software development), and the diff is here. The source is from an academic article titled: "A Systematic Review of SCRUM in Software Development".
The second article I edited was David Goggins, and the diff is here. The source is from The New York Times, a report called "Death in Navy SEAL Training Exposes a Culture of Brutality, Cheating and Drugs" .
This week I learned how to find the appropriate scholarly literature through Wikipedia entries and add them appropriately.

Week4 / Artisticrush
Hey, I recently edited 2 articles. The first article I edited is - Data structure#Implementation and here's the diff https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Data_structure&diff=1184654745&oldid=1178166750.
The second article I edited is - Database transaction and here's the diff https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Database_transaction&diff=1184659292&oldid=1182056183
I have assigned myself the 2 articles. Editing a Wikipedia article has taught me that it is important to be objective and neutral in my writing, and to cite my sources carefully. Have also learned to be more specific for example, I replaced "transactions" with "transactional databases" to be more descriptive. A good learning indeed. Thank You. Artisticrush (talk) 21:06, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Artisticrush You inserted links to the citations instead of inserting the citations themselves. Please fix these in the articles and ping me here when done and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 18:08, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Similar to last week, I learned that even small edits can make a huge difference in giving readers knowledge. I learned that while some new information may be minor, it could still help a Wikipedia page stay updated.
As this is my last Wikipedia assignment, I feel like I've definitely learned a lot from the experience. Besides learning on the technicalities of how to edit an article, I've also learned how to do it correctly, including using reliable sources to edit articles. But more importantly, I've learned that to contribute to a community like Wikipedia has been very fulfilling if I'm being honest. Like many others, I've been using Wikipedia since I learned how to get on the Internet and I think being able to give back to the community has been very worthwhile. While I don't plan on actively editing Wikipedia pages after this assignment is done, I do plan on editing articles that I come across that I know needs updating, as I would definitely still like to be able to contribute to the community. I am just continuing to learn how to navigate wikipedia better, and it's been fun! Anubhutij28 (talk) 03:17, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Anubhutij28 Your first edit does not fulfill the Wikipedia policy of using reliable, third-party WP:INDEPENDENT published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy WP:RELIABLE; it appears to go to a dissertation. As discussed in the assignment and class, always use a reliable source, such as an academic journal article or another high-quality reference. Avoid blogs, corporate websites, reviews, press releases, sources where we cannot determine author expertise or bias, and opinion pieces as they generally do not count as reliable sources. Your second edit goes to a government webpage that does not support your claim. Please either assign yourself different articles and add credible sources or edit what you already did to address these concerns. Ping me here when done, and I will review. week 5 / Artisticrush
Hey, The first article I edited this week was Data and information visualization here's the diff https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Data_and_information_visualization&diff=1186146124&oldid=1181497312
this edit was to clarify the primary goal of data visualization. The original paragraph mentioned the importance of communicating information clearly and efficiently, but it didn't explicitly state that the ultimate goal of data visualization is to transform complex data into easily understandable visuals. By adding this sentence, the paragraph provides a more concise and focused description of data visualization's purpose.
The second article I edited this week was Data analysis and here's the diff https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Data_analysis&diff=1186118669&oldid=1184777430 .

Week 7 /Jz5863
This week, I edited the article Exercise prescription software and Sedentary lifestyle. The diff for my edit are here and here. The citation I included was from an article by Chen, H.-K., Chen, F.-H., & Lin, S.-F. (2021) regarding an AI-based exercise prescription recommendation system. This served as the evidence for the new content I introduced.
Through this process, I learned about the importance of AI in modern healthcare, specifically how it can be applied to combat sedentary lifestyles. The experience provided insight into the evolving nature of exercise prescription and the potential of technology to personalize health interventions.
My overall experience with this Wikipedia editing task was enlightening. It was an opportunity to contribute valuable knowledge to a public domain, helping to disseminate information about innovative health solutions. I learned the intricacies of responsible editing, including the necessity for accurate citations and adherence to Wikipedia’s guidelines to ensure the reliability and neutrality of content. Reflecting on this task, the value of contributing to a platform like Wikipedia became clear. It's a way to engage with a global community and make a tangible impact on the dissemination of knowledge. Whether or not to continue editing on Wikipedia is a personal decision. For me, it would depend on my commitment to sharing knowledge and engaging with topics of personal or professional interest. The sense of community and contribution to a larger body of knowledge can be gratifying reasons to continue. Jz5863 (talk) 19:31, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- Jz5863 Nice edits on these two final articles, and thanks for the overall feedback on this. I hope you find Wikipedia editing useful and continue with it. Let me know in the future if you ever need any support or help with it. Current with Week 7. FULBERT (talk) 01:11, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

Week 8 / EdereOmnes
Reflecting on my experience with the Wikipedia extra credit assignment, it was indeed a captivating journey that deepened my understanding of how Wikipedia wordss. Engaging in the task of editing several articles allowed me to contribute valuable and pertinent information to the platform.
I appreciate that the professor introduced the class to this unique opportunity. It not only expanded my knowledge of Wikipedia but also provided a hands-on learning experience with the platform. The process of researching and editing articles was both educational and fulfilling.
