week#2 article evaluation by Potatocircle

Hi, here is a link of my sandbox. I choose caesar cipher as my article since this is a topic that I'm interested in and have learned about in my undergraduate study, so I want to learn about how Wikipedia talks about this topic. Potatocircle (talk) 02:28, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Nice thoughts on this review Potatocircle. --- FULBERT (talk) 15:15, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello. You have just marked this article as reviewed with the comment "enough sources were provide to determine notability". Can you take the time to look at these sources one by one and determine if there really is something "reliable" in there? It may help that some of them (newsblaze.com, tgdaily.com) were discussed by Alsee at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Coach Meddy. About bestinau.com.au, "contributor guest post" may have some relevance. Unless I am mistaken, sunrisenews.co is used as a source in only 1 of our 5.8 million articles - this one. The baltimorepostexaminer.com article is written by a person who does "SEO marketing" for a living. Thanks and regards, Biwom (talk) 17:46, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

I was confused at first by the ping, I thought you were saying I patrolled the article. Chuckle. I did a partial review.
  • dailyscanner.com: It helpfully says it's a Blog. The author of the piece is also the "editor in chief" of the site - selfpublished with no editorial review. Ref deleted. By the way, I looked at one other article at random (the picture was looked interesting). It was basically an advertisement for some random guy with a "store" on eBay.
  • bestinau.com.au: Their contact page helpfully lists their Advertorial team. Deleted. Oh wait, there were five refs to this site. Deleted#2. Deleted#3. Deleted#4. Deleted#5.
  • sunrisenews.co: About page: Sunrise News is an independent news blog. why-homeowners-leave-sizeable-rubbish-removal-loads-to-professionals opens with a link to a random rubbish-removal-company. how-different-a-lifestyle-with-rubbish-removal-is opens either another random rubbish removal company. here-can-i-find-anaplan-solutions-that-will-help-increase-my-productivity this article helpfully answers that question - by sending to the reader to a particular company for solutions. why-fake-grass-in-sydney-is-so-effective-for-locals opens with a link o a synthetic grass company. It looks like every "article" on the sites front page is an advertorial. Deleted.
  • newsblaze.com: Explicitly carries paid stories. Their contact page states: "Done For You Media Exposure Program Outline ... Press Release, Followup interviews, Followup stories and social followup." Noteworthy detail: This advertorial crosslinks to a bestinau.com.au advertorial. Deleted.
  • TGDaily.com: Copy-pasting my research from an AFD. I can't find explicit advertizing info, but it looks like just about every article in the Health section is a paid ad. Over-the-top advertorial for "FaceTite" with link to clinic to make an appointment. How-to-improve-your-sleep-quality with link to buy Marijauna-oil and stating "You can also get some great deals on these products". How-to-avoid-addiction-and-live-a-healthy-life sending readers to buy a SoberLink product. What-is-tartar-and-how-do-you-control-it which of course sends readers to "Lanes & Associates, reputable and experienced dentistry in Durham". How-can-i-prevent-my-hemorrhoids-from-getting-worse which sends readers to pristyncare.com to buy laser surgery. How-ehr-software-improves-medical-practices with a link to buy Electronic Medical Records software and which says "They have achieved these goals with their EHR software, specifically so you can achieve your goals for your practice. Are you ready to get the most out of your medical practice with an EHR?" Deleted.
  • entrepreneur.com: Entrepreneur has an actual paper magazine, which is normally a very positive sign. However the article notes: You're reading Entrepreneur South Africa, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. I haven't deleted this ref but the company seems to have a dodgy reputation and I wouldn't trust their "franchising" without closer examination, which I didn't do.
I didn't check the rest of the refs, but if the pattern continues I expect this article is heading to AFD. Nine refs deleted, and a tenth is questionable. Feel free to ping me with any update on what's happening here. If this goes to AFD then I explicitly request a ping so I can explain my deletion of unreliable sources.
As a Post Script, I wouldn't be surprised if an LGBTQ-theme clothing company did garner news attention and Notability, but the sources so far are abysmal. Alsee (talk) 21:33, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for pointing out these issues Biwom and pinging Alsee about this. This has already improved the article. I will cross-post this on the Talk page itself as well. --- FULBERT (talk) 02:12, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

Vampire the Masquerade 2

Hola, I notice you tagged this article for copyright vio. Thankfully another user knows that I wrote the article and the website you linked to is copying me, is there a way to tag the article to prevent this kind of issue in the future as I don't want to eventually get it to FA and someone says I'm copying a website that is copying me. Thanks. Darkwarriorblake / SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE! 06:53, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the follow-up Darkwarriorblake and for your efforts in this. Sorry for this confusion, and I will continue following Vampire the Masquerade 2 to offer assistance in it as I can. --- FULBERT (talk) 17:52, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi FULBERT. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance. so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:29, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

Kudpung, Thanks for this opportunity to continue to learn and serve the global community. FULBERT (talk) 17:27, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

Pcllin, Nice basic edits. I think the second two may be reverted (per a similar issue as with Creative Mastermind above) but I think this is a good first step of yours in this effort. FULBERT (talk) 05:12, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

Week 2 from Stella0716

This is the link to my week two extra credit assignment, I had a lot of fun to learn about how to use Wikipedia looking forward to the next step. User_talk:2600:387:5:800:0:0:0:0/60 Stella0716 (talk) 18:19, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

Stella0716, I am not sure where you did your review, but it is not in your sandbox. Please complete the training and then move it where the training suggests to put it, along with the questions that are included in the training itself. Week 2 assignment Hexxaggon

Hi professor, this is my sandbox:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hexxaggon/sandbox. I am interested in Wikipedia rules, and I have a lot of information about citations. Please take a look. Hexxaggon (talk) 02:29, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

Hexxaggon, Can you apply these to an article of your choice, and include these elements in a specific article review? Please do that at the bottom of your sandbox linked above and reping me here with the link. I will then review it and give the credit for it. FULBERT (talk) 05:23, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

week#3 copyedit

Hi, this week I fixed a typo of spelling here. See my sandbox for more details. Potatocircle (talk) 09:00, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

Potatocircle, Interesting edit. A question about this -- the spelling you provided is not consistent with the Shaanxi Broadcasting Corporation (SXBC) listed in the final column https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_in_China#Others. Is that correct or should that be changed as well? FULBERT (talk) 05:09, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
Potatocircle, Once I get your reply, then I will mark this as done. FULBERT (talk) 05:09, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
FULBERT, thanks for pointing that out. Actually, I looked into this and it's shǎn3 xī and commonly written as "Shaanxi". This is an interesting point and I didn't know this before. See revision history and sandox. Potatocircle (talk) 07:53, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
Potatocircle, Great; thank you. FULBERT (talk) 14:18, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

week#2 article evaluation by Tailz88

Hi, here is the link to my sandbox. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tailz88/sandbox. Since I have a very strong interest in the 2008 financial crisis. I chose Financial crisis of 2007–2008 for my article evaluation. This is a rigorous and level-4 vital article in History with C-Class rate. So I can and do some edit on it later. Tailz88 (talk) 00:30, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

Tailz88, I cannot see your review at the link you provided. Can you please reply to me here, make sure to indent with three ::: and give me the correct link? Also, when you add a section, it should appear automatically at the bottom of this page so it will allow for an ongoing ordering. I moved your reply to there. FULBERT (talk) 04:56, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
Hi, I just rebuilt the link and you can check the original link which I posted for my review. Thank you.Tailz88 (talk) 06:56, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

Week 3: First Wikipedia Article Edits Creative Mastermind

Hello, I have made six typo corrections to the Coastal development hazards article. See diffs between revisions for a comparison of these changes made within the article. --Creative Mastermind (talk) 23:23, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

Creative Mastermind, Did you see how your edits were reverted https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Coastal_development_hazards&diff=next&oldid=902019401 and the reason that the other editor provided. I agree with that editor, and want to get your thoughts on it as a reply here. Yes, you got credit for doing this, though I want to get your thoughts. Thanks. FULBERT (talk) 05:00, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
Just read the reverted comments and I think that's a reasonable response. I had not considered the language usage being different from English (i.e. British); which is definately good to be aware of. It's interesting to see that people are monitoring these pages and how quickly editors may review and revert changes. --Creative Mastermind (talk) 20:03, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
Creative Mastermind, Great, and in this way I think the editor who made that change explained it in an accurate way that focused on the issue for learning, as opposed to making it personal (which is very much discouraged). BTW, we have all been there! FULBERT (talk) 19:38, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

Week 4 Extra Credit
