Conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Fashionindustrypro. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. —SMALLJIM 15:05, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Anti-Vandalism
[edit]Hello SmallJim
Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I have been in the fashion business for quite a longtime, the nature of my occupation is individuals interchange throughout the business on quite a regular basis, so as you can imagine I’ve worked and contributed to many publications in the fashion industry. For that reason I am cautious with my links and edits as they all come from sources that I believe as an expert, to be without bias.
From reading your “About Me” page maybe you would consider helping me, I see that you indulge in Anti-Vandalism. I contemplate that most if not entirely the articles on Wikipedia about fashion models have completely become home to links self serving non-media blog sites like Models.com. Models.com is web blog whose primary income is from model agencies and wannabe models wishing to have directory and portfolio presence on the site. The bias is unquestionable when it comes to ranking, how should I go about unlinking models.com across Wikipedia as a self-serving bias interest. Fashionindustrypro (talk) 20:14, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!
[edit]I saw your userpage says that you work for Conde Nast. If you are in NYC, consider coming to our national Wikipedia conference in Lower Manhattan at the end of May. Details on USA are on its own page. We have always wanted more participants from the fashion industry as people ask for this but we do not have many fashion editors. Please invite anyone you know who might be interested. Thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:40, 21 April 2014 (UTC) |
Linkspam warning
[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:04, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Please Help with Link Editing Process
[edit]I feel that the links I have added to the articles are exceptionally relevant. My strategy is to connect links and information to trustworthy media sources that base information on objective information and results. There is unquestionably no divergence of interest as I am a contributing editor to more than 25 fashion publications worldwide. On the contrary, my edits were changed back to information that is out of date and out of touch. As I am very new to Wikipedia; I do not understand the principles involved, nor have a total grasp on the editing process. However, when I see links that are missing vital information ; I am not adding them because I am a contributing editor to one publication or another; but rather because the knowledge is significant and factually without prejudice.
Seeing ambiguous links to erroneous material, and "model" rankings that are absolutely bias is quite disconcerting as the information linked is not based on any quantifiable evidence, but rather unmitigated partiality. ( If anything all the links to Model.com, and even mention of the ranking system on Models.com should be removed. Models.com Is not a media outlet but rather a webpage business based on making money from model agencies and wannabe models that want to feature there companies and or portfolios in the models.com directory or portfolios section. The reason I linked FashionIndustree.com is simple, The Ranking System is based on results and FashionIndustree.com does not do business with Models, Agents, or Directory Profiles, but rather is a completely free service. The most important rule in journalism, is not to be underwritten by the party that you are wishing to speak objectively about. Models.com do not base their results on palpable data but rather self aiding interest. Fashionindustrypro (talk) 19:33, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Some points for you to consider:
- You have a conflict of interest, and you have evidently not read WP:COI, as suggested to you in a previous message on this page.
- You don't seem to understand that external links are not a necessity for an encyclopedia. Please also read WP:ELNO to get an idea of what links are inappropriate.
- You should never add any links with which you are affiliated to any articles. Because you have a conflict of interest, you should propose your fashionindustree.com links, and any other links with which you are affiliated, on article talk pages for others to evaluate.
- Work on improving content, not adding links. Links don't have much value here, especially links added by someone associated with those links. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:24, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Talkback
[edit]You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Fashionindustrypro, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy deletion candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would help make it encyclopedic. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Katieh5584 (talk) 09:30, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:40, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
