Checkuser issue

[edit]

Your conscientiousness in editing is great, and your frustration with someone repeatedly making edits despite the consensus of others is understandable. I need to point out some concerns over the Marioman sockpuppet issue.

1. Failing to log in isn't necessarily considered sockpuppetry.

2. Sockpuppets aren't actually banned. Users are allowed to have multiple IDs.

3. What's banned is using a sockpuppet to stir up trouble, cast extra votes, create an illusion of consensus by agreeing with oneself under several names, or trying to get around rules like the three-revert limit.

Personally, I would wait until that person's fourth edit (under the combined name plus un-logged-in number) before I pushed the issue. If the person is that big a pest, let him/her reach the point that he/she has to get a slap on the wrist to make the point that he/she doesn't get how Wikipedia works. Sometimes they get the message, but first you have to let them make the mistakes that will earn them the stronger reprimand. Doczilla 06:38, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About your comment to moi

[edit]

1) Thank you, I had no idea alphabetical was a concern in that matter.

2) Also, Archie Corrigan already had a page and I've contributed to it. I have very little clue how to make a new page for Mickey and even if I did, the guy has such a long, goofy career I wouldn't know where to start. I don't have references or issue numbers on hand either. And I don't even know if the goob is alive or dead.

Minor edits and CSI

[edit]

Since this isn't about Asgardian... Minor edits should never be used for reverts. Also, I see your a CSI fan. Have you considered checking out WP:CSI? We could use more good editors like you :) -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 13:19, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[[Image:Astonishing xmen-16 wolvy.jpg|thumb|right|Wolverine as '''"James"'''.<br>Art by [[John Cassaday]].]]

Any idea who this 'James' is? And whyt hey haven't put it in the Article?

That is Wolverine when Emma Frost reduces him to a child-like mindset, so he reverts to being James. It's from Astonishing X-Men. I think it's not in the article because it's not very important. -Freak104 19:33, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scrubs episode articles and Trivia Tags

[edit]

Hi, I've noticed you've been tagging a lot of the scrubs episode articles with trivia tags, regardless of the size of them. However, you seem to be being a bit "tag-happy" the trivia tag is really mean't for articles with really long trivia sections, three or four items of trivia don't really require a tag. Thanks--Jac16888 22:04, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quote straight from "how to handle Trivia" If a section ("trivia" or otherwise) has grown so large as to over-balance an article, consider: Adding the {Trivia}} tag to the section, inviting other users to help clean up.
And if you look, I haven't just being removing the tag, on most of the articles I integrated the trivia i could, and removed the tag where it was pointless, having the trivia tag for one or two items is utterly pointless, and just so you know, i was already working on the trivia sections, an article with a short trivia list is acceptable, especially as these articles are unlikely to ever achieve GAC--Jac16888 08:41, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
and btw way, if you intend to keep going through the articles and adding trivia tags, you could help me out and A) only do a season a day, at most, so i can try and do integrating before and after work every day, and B), add the names of every episode with little or no plot summaries to the list here, if its not too much trouble, thanks--Jac16888 09:27, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem about removing them bits, I appreciate you helping me out with it, and the @ things are to remind me about eps which need external links, the ones without links but with summaries I just put the sign--Jac16888 18:20, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for putting the page back up, I did not agree with the person who took it down. Legobrickmaster 19:52, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Proposals

Please be sure to update the Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/Notice Board merge listings when you restart a merge discussion so users know the discussion is active again. Thanks -- 69.183.15.244 18:21, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spider-Man 2099

[edit]

I have closed out discussion on Doom and Hulk 2099 following your comments, which were appreciated. There is still a note previously left by you for the Spider-Man 2099 merge discussion. With your most recent edits, it appears as your current sentiment does not reflect that of your entry. To offer and addendum would provide an opportunity to close the discussion with no merge versus no consensus. 66.109.248.114 09:02, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate versions of Psylocke page?

[edit]

Hi Freak104 and welcome back. I was just wondering if you could create a page for the alternate versions of Psylocke. I was going to add some more alternate versions (from Earth X, What if etc.) to the Psylocke page, but realised that at the moment that would make a large page even larger. 129.16.49.37 (talk) 12:22, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would just say to add them, because that particular section of the article is not very long and probably shouldn't be broken off to its own article. However, I have started a section on the Psylocke talk page to figure out how to shorten the main article so don't feel bad about lengthening the article. --Freak104 22:46, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting

[edit]

The instructions are at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. I'm afraid I am off now so I don't have the time to do it. I would suggest you re-merge and wait and see if the merge is undone. If it is, then report is per instructions. All the best, Hiding T 16:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to follow-up quickly. I was the editor in question that did both the initial revert and the most recent. I reverted the initial, after discussion was closed after (I believe 12) days; which in the context of other merged discussions would be approximately 1/3-1/2 the time the discussions remain open. My second revert, came following comments by User:Phil Sandersomething and my understanding of Wiki:fictions notability guidelines. I pointed to multiple publications featuring Bloodstorm, a point that no other Mutant X character but Havok has the distinction of. I felt that point which speficly addressed the argument of "every other Mutant X character has been merged" merited continued discussion; in addition, some hasty 2099 merges in the past prompted me to be more proactive about a hasty merge of this character prior to the conclusion of the discussion. Please, at least with this anon editor, assume good faith in the future, as I meant no harm, but feel both precidence, protocol, and procedures where not being adhered to. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 22:14, 10 January 2008 (UTC).[reply]
Thanks for the response, I appreciate. If you go through my edit history, you'll find I'm actually a registed user; however, I choose not to sign in for various reasons, both personal and metaphysical. Again, my appreciation. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 23:19, 10 January 2008 (UTC).[reply]

In September, you had redirected the Morph (comics) page stating "Moved all the information over. Concensus not needed, Wikipedia policy required merge, concensus to merge into Changeling article." In subsequent 2099 edits, it has appeared to me that you have come to a different understanding of merge protocol and procedure. Recently an invested user, User:Robertcoogan, took not that the page was merged without consensus, and has chosen to revive the merge discussion. I was hoping you might comment to the user or on the Changeling (Marvel Comics) talk page. In my personal opinion the two should be separated as there are a.) vested editior, b.) a disticintive publication history for both characters. c.) a fictional biography that is near irreconcialbe between the two. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 20:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Save an article!

[edit]

Hey, some guys seem to have something against new articles based on comic book characters. I know you're a good/respectable guy, so could you go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mister Negative to post something to help keep the article alive? There's no reason it should be deleted; there are a lot of comic book articles significantly shorter than his, and with less comic book appearances. -Freak104 (talk) 19:45, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I wish there was really something I could do about that... to be honest, I may have "lost" more articles than I've saved! I'll see what I can do. One piece of advice I can give is that "well, there are hundreds just like it" is not only a bad argument to use in AFD (because it will be ignored), but it's a bad idea in general because do you really want to give an ambitious deletionist any ideas? Trust me, the last thing you want is guys like this running all over the stuff you like. So, for the love of minor characters everywhere, try to avoid making that argument in the future because sooner or later someone will take up your challenge and you may not like what happens.  ;) BOZ (talk) 21:26, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Ambassador Program at MSU

[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian associated with Michigan State University. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at MSU, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone in the East Lansing area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Menace (Marvel Comics) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
