Information in USN Diving Manual
Hi Gene, Do you know where to go for sources of information published in the USN Diving Manual R7? I have a query about their definition of meter sea water in Table 2-10 on page 2-33. The statement is made that 10 msw is defined as 1 bar, but they don't mention who defines it as 1 bar. I tried to find a contact from the Naval Sea Systems Command website, but couldn't find anything that looked plausible. I thought you might know who to go to. Cheers, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 09:41, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Peter, That would have originally been based on the U.S. Standard Atmosphere if I remember correctly. It would have been extrapolated for higher pressures. The person to ask for a current definition would be Dr John R Clarke at the United States Navy Experimental Diving Unit. Those models are determined by Dr Gerth down there at present. --Gene Hobbs (talk) 00:58, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, Gene, My problem is mainly that I cannot find any contact details for NEDU or Drs Clarke and Gerth, so cannot ask them. I was hoping you could help with that. Cheers • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 02:48, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- OK, shoot me an email. I can make the connection for you. --Gene Hobbs (talk) 20:26, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
