Photos of Lincoln, NE

[edit]

Hi Gmcbjames ^_^ !... I know we hardly have time to talk :/ ... or I hardly the time to do anything with two kids now xD ~... but last month I managed to slip out and take a couple of cool photos :) . I hope you enjoy them and cheers - hope all is well with you lately ^^ !!!~:

Great to hear from you Hanyou23, it has been awhile. Great images, the State Capital image is one of my favorites now. You may consider replacing the one in the Lincoln article - having a unique image not used elsewhere would be nice. All is well, taking a little vaca here and there, I had a wonderful time in Malibu. Have you considered nominating the Lincoln article for GA again? I think it is ready to go through the process as many of the issues by the first GA review have been resolved - and any other items could be taken care of easily in a second review. You should be the nominator (for the credit!). Think about it. I hope all is well with you - two kids are a handful at that age! Cheers my friend - Gmcbjames (talk) 17:30, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Gmcbjames :) ! Well, I think half of what you mentioned above have already been addressed ;p (heh)... but yeah, the time with the kids are good ;p heheh. The smallest is teething now @o@ ... she's been a little bit of a fuss ( ;p ) but the oldest will be starting kindergarten this fall :) . Exciting times xD meheh~.....
Thanks for the kind words about the photos ^^ !... I may crop the airplane one now - I've been thinking about it for a few days ;o , but it was nice to get out ^_^ . I may try to get another within the next few days or so ;D ~...
...and we'll see how the GA goes - thanks for the suggestion and for "the credit" part, too ") ^^ ! Cheers ^_^ !!!~ Hanyou23 (talk) 22:43, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

GA review of Lincoln, NE

[edit]

Hanyou23, thank you for submitting the article for a second GA review! I made some minor changes to the Parks section by taking the bullet list and putting it into prose form. You may wish to take a look at this and expand if you wish. I will be checking on a daily basis the review as it progresses. Changes can be made during the review process and commented on with the reviewer to make improvements. I think we have done a great job, and hopefully any issues will be minor and easily addressed. I am here, so ping me if you need me either on the Lincoln talk page or my talk page. I will watch and do what I can! Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 17:51, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gmcbjames - Thanks for the edit ^^ - I've been mulling over that section for quite a whole now, so I think your edit here does it fine at this time ;D . Hopefully things will be minor enough to where it will be easy to iron out - like you say :) ... but the thing that worries me is that there might be a concern about how many lists there are again ;o . We'll just have to see ^_~ . I'll be watching daily, too and hopefully things will go smoothly ^_^ ! I'm honestly surprised how quickly it was selected for review, though ;o ... but one of the factors that might figure into this might be the repeated editors nominating articles for GA on the GA nomination page - maybe they would just like to give some others a chance :) heh? Anyways, thank you as always and until sooner instead of later ^^ heh!!!~  :) Hanyou23 (talk) 22:51, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Gmcbjames :) ! How does one run Cyperbot II on the Lincoln page ;o ??? I've noticed a few dead links and would like to try this tool, but can't really figure out how to use it :/ . You have any ideas ;p heh? Thanks much as always and until later - cheers ^_^ !!!~ Hanyou23 (talk) 19:43, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hanyou23, on Lincoln's talk page there is a link labeled External Links under the section GA review. You can use this to fix dead links or go to Page, then Tools and then click on External Links. Cyberbot II is a random bot. Have fun. I thought we should do this as I noticed some links died in just the last month or so. Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 20:00, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hanyou23 - I took a moment to repair the dead and suspicious links @Lincoln, the tool isn't the easiest to use! Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 17:33, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing the lede

[edit]

Hanyou23, I am so glad the GA has begun. I have marked  Done on the review as I address issues so you know what I have completed. I moved text and cites to the text body from the lede - so the cites in the lede are properly placed. We need to flesh out the lede. I will work on this on Wednesday - though I have a good start with the clean-up suggestions - moving the cites was a nightmare! The phrase "Star city" is still in the lede - though I do not see it in the text body - don't know much about this so maybe you can take care of this? Feel free to touch base with me on my talk page to coordinate what we can do to address the reviewers concerns. How fun! Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 23:41, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I worked on the lede, moving text about, adding, and trying to take some of the suggestions from the GA articles noted by the reviewer. Do give it a copy edit, fact check, etc - I will keep trying to summarize the article in the lede. I removed the "Star city" for now - it can be added later - just need to have it included in the text body (maybe cited?). For now - cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 01:52, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's it for me tonight, I tried to find Lincoln being the "Star City," - I know it has been used as well as "All-American City," - however I cannot find a source as to when where why or how come - other than being used. Help me on this one. Otherwise I think I tightened up the lede, do fact check etc. if you can. Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 04:57, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Gmcbjames - Hey :) ... so sorry - trying to catch up on everything ~o~ ... my oldest started kindergarten on Monday and I'm so behind on everything :/ ... I'll try catching up tomorrow afternoon - sorry again :*0 ~..... (cheers :) ) Hanyou23 (talk) 08:26, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hanyou23, kindergarten - how fun, I think my kindergarten teacher is the only teacher I remember by name! However, kindergarten isn't the kindergarten of my days. In regards to the Lincoln article, no worries, I will continue to work with the reviewer and make improvements, if you have any objections or suggestions in my edits, do let me know as I value your opinion and knowledge of Lincoln - and feel free to jump in when you can. Have a great day! - Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 17:48, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hanyou23, I had the day to address the issues noted by Yash! - I have pinged you on Lincoln's talk page and left messages as to where I hit a wall and need your assistance. This is a fine tooth review which I am enjoying, though it is hard work as I spent a large part of my day finding sources and making edits! Yash!, if you are reading my talk page, that is great, do feel free to chime in if you wish. Hanyou, Yash! seems very patient, so I do not think there is a rush to address every issue immediately, you do have your hands full! I just lucked upon having my day free today. Have a great day, I am exhausted, until later - Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 00:18, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unintentional edits

[edit]

I sympathize with your recent trouble with the iPad. I've had trouble with premature editing myself, mostly when I'm typing the edit summary and inadvertently hit a shortcut key for "Save this edit". Have had to decide whether to leave half an edit summary, which is a pretty obnoxious thing to do to page-watchers, or to do a dummy edit and type the complete summary. — Ammodramus (talk) 18:19, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Teamwork Barnstar
I am not exaggerating when I say that your work on Lincoln, is the best example of teamwork I have ever seen on Wikipedia! You guys have been working on this with so much dedication and passion for so long, it is absolutely amazing! The work done by both of you is nothing short of inspirational and a perfect example of what great teamwork can accomplish. Keep up the excellent work and I am certain that you both will take this to FA status. It has been a true joy working with you both; it is people like you who make editing Wikipedia and collaborating with others a worthwhile experience. Hanyou23 and Gmcbjames, you guys are the perfect example of what teamwork is all about and I am glad that we crossed paths! You both are wonderful people and truly deserve all the praise. With warm regards, Yash! 19:05, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adding competition to department store articles

[edit]

If you wish to make your change you must prove why it's necessary on the talk page before you remove so much content . Jenimcphersoncow (talk) 05:47, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jenimcphersoncow, the discussion to include and where to include competitors is currently taking place on the talk:Nordstrom page. I know this may seem cumbersome for you, however consensus is policy for the encyclopedia. See Wikipedia:Consensus for guidance. The issue isn't about you, rather it is about how to make articles the best they can be. Conflict is just part of editing, it happens, however it is up to editors to come to an agreement and to place the best interests of the encyclopedia above themselves. I will continue to contribute to the discussion at talk:Nordstrom. As a new editor, feel free to ask questions. Most if not all editors are more than willing to help out by guiding new editors to policy, guidelines, and essays. Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 17:55, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok great - good idea Jenimcphersoncow (talk) 00:24, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nordstrom

[edit]

Hi. I think it's important that nordstrom is clearly indicated as an upscale dept store. Leaving just "dept store" describes an entirely different atmosphere. Sears and Jc Penney are dept stores. Nordstrom is very specifally an upscale one (like bloomingdales and macys) and there are countless sources online confirming this. How do I go about making these changes? Thanks! Carolyn Nicholls-Warner — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1017:B010:E3EF:6598:6E1C:3A2F:E4AA (talk) 18:35, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, welcome to Wikipedia as an editor. Upscale as an adjective in the introduction (known as the lead or lede) is a peacock or puffery term (see WP:PEACOCK). This has been a reoccurring issue for the Nordstrom article. The lede is a summary of the articles contents (See WP:LEAD). Since there isn't any information in the article as to why, how, etc. Nordstrom's is an upscale department store, it would help to insert well-sourced information into the article's text body. No need to overdo, the article is about the department store Nordstrom, rather a few sentences would suffice. And then instead of using "upscale" as an adjective, place a sentence in the lede as to the type of department store Nordstrom's is - which is supported by the facts in the text body. It doesn't matter how a source describes Nordstom - as many sources do refer to Nordstom as an upscale department store - what matters for us as editors is to include supported facts as what type of department store Nordstrom is. Of course just saying Nordstrom is upscale is easy, however we are building an encyclopedia one article at a time for readers of the world to use. As we have a world-wide readership, many wouldn't know what an "upscale" department store is. So let's help them. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 20:34, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A source used for Nordstrom being an upscale department store was [1]. This can be used as a source for expanding how and why Nordstrom is upscale. An appropriate section to include this information is 2000–present. Of course I could do this, however I think you can do this, learn along the way, and become a contributor making the encyclopedia the best it can be. There are many department store articles in need of improvement aside from Nordstrom, hopefully you might be able to clean up the adjectives such as upscale or luxury in the lede sections of those articles as well. This would be a major improvement. Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 21:57, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Do note, while Nordstrom stores may be upscale, the article is about Nordstrom, the company. Other company stores probably are not considered upscale such as Nordstrom Rack. So be sure to clarify this. Cheers again, Gmcbjames (talk) 23:40, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi Gmcbjames,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

All-Around Amazing Barnstar
Gmcbjames - well, I wish I could come up with something more original... maybe will soon - time it tight ;p ... but I just wanted to wholeheartedly thank you for all of your help - everything you have done with the Lincoln article - especially with helping get it to GA :) . Things did now work out so well for me towards the end and things are still... "tight", with two kids going full-blast now ;o ... but with spring finally - almost here, hopefully things will slow a little ;p . This is the busy summertime of my life, huh ;p heh ^_~ ? Anyways, you went the extra *10* miles there (with Lincoln) and I thank you so much once again ^^ !!! All my best - cheers and I'll try to be around more, as best as I can :) ... cheers ^^ !!!!!~ ;D Hanyou23 (talk) 02:19, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hanyou23, thank you for your kind comments and the barnstar. It was and is a pleasure working with you on the Lincoln article. I am glad you are up and running again - you have been missed. I have been on and off again - not so much lately. I had to redirect my energy for awhile - as you well understand! Keep up the great work, and if you need any help do let me know on my talk page! Ways to improve Albert Caasmann

[edit]

Hi, I'm Hydronium Hydroxide. Gmcbjames, thanks for creating Albert Caasmann!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Tagged for notability as it's not clear that WP:NCREATIVE is met (merge/redirect to Lineol leaving categories, with mention at Volkstedt might be a possibility?).

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Help in Lincoln, Nebraska

[edit]

You still around, my friend @Gmcbjames: ? There's an editor who has gone on an editing spree in Lincoln, Nebraska and I may need a second set of eyes on this :/ ..... Hanyou23 (talk) 14:45, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still around @Hanyou23:. I will see what the edits are all about - I'm a little rusty at editing! Thank you for keeping an eye on Lincoln! Gmcbjames (talk) 18:39, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Gmcbjames: - glad to see ^^ ! May I please direct your attention to part of the discussion here :) :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Magnolia677 ("Photo_of_"sky"_in_Lincoln,_Nebraska")
...and also on the Lincoln talk page, which really doesn't have any discussion as of yet ;o . Hope all is well -- we'll have to catch up again sometime soon and hope that you like those two new photos on the Lincoln page ^^ !!! ^_^ Hanyou23 (talk) 18:48, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have commented on the Lincoln's talk. Keep the image, if removed, then undo. I agree with you, the image is a thousand words in regards to the city itself! Gmcbjames (talk) 19:07, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing that ^^ ! Seems like that one editor just kind'a likes to go around to all pages and delete whatever looks out of place to that editor's eye - even if it has a place in the article that's being edited ;o ..... Hanyou23 (talk) 19:20, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.
This does not involve you my friend @Gmcbjames:, but I do mention you. Having not done this before, I figured It'd be best to cover all bases. Hanyou23 (talk) 20:26, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please ignore at this time... seems like there are a few more hoops to jump though. Hanyou23 (talk) 21:03, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I'm done with Wikipedia now... maybe for a good while. Seems like the bureaucracy has grown quite a bit -- not what it used to be :/ . I know you're not around as much now either, but I guess the Lincoln article will just have to stay at the mercy of that one user and the user's subjective "not notable" scale -.-; ...... Hanyou23 (talk) 21:35, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hanyou23 @Hanyou23: do not become discouraged. You are need to keep an eye on Lincoln!! I have added my comments to the Lincoln talk page regarding the latest issue. I think the editor in question may be one who has to find an answer to support their actions. I read the comments on the editors page and the editors page who made the addition of the category. I think you were extremely kind and helpful in helping the editor add a category. There is indeed a Ukrainian community in Lincoln. I do not see a problem with adding the category, as I noted in my comments on Lincoln's talk page. I did not revert the last edit. I will allow the editor who deleted the category a chance to add their comment, we will see. So please, keep a watch on Lincoln! I don't edit as much as I did, though I do edit when I need to! Gmcbjames (talk) 01:15, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Gmcbjames: Thanks for the kind words -- I'll try to not be discouraged :) . The topic on the talk page has grown kind'a pretty cold now... what to do next? I pinged the original editor for the comment (the one who originally added the Ukraine link), but he may be totally off the grid by now ;o ..... Hanyou23 (talk) 22:21, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Hanyou23:, since there hasn't been any further discussion on the topic, and we both agree - go ahead & add the category in an edit - instead of reverting. Gmcbjames (talk) 06:24, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gmcbjames: I'm thinking of getting another party into the discussion, but I haven't a clue which route to take. 3O applies to only two parties, it seems, while RfC should not involve how a guideline applies to a specific situation. Seems like (one of the) the only other routes is DR, but I'm treading awfully close to 3RR -- as is the other editor and it's been mentioned that it's probably not the best route for me to take, as I could get kneecapped in the process :/ . Do you have any better insights on how to get a third opinion onto the talk page??? These are new waters for me - never have had to deal with another editor like this before who is so persistent and almost unmovable in their opinions/editing ;o ..... Hanyou23 (talk) 09:58, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Hanyou23: - The addition of a category is not a controversial edit and the consensus after discussion was two to include, one not. We will see if the editor is just on a path of edit warring rather than editing. If he removes my edit restoring the category and provides no discussion on the Lincoln talk page, we will see his true colors. And from there I will proceed. Hopefully, he will move on. We will see... Gmcbjames (talk) 18:39, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gmcbjames: Thanks for that... didn't expect that. I'm going to try to stay under the radar a bit - at least trying to stay away from edit warring, as I did unintentionally fall into that trap late last month. This might be of interest to you - I'll be curious to see what they say:
Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Categories#When_to_add_a_category Hanyou23 (talk) 20:46, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Hanyou23: Hopefully the editor will actually read the policy and guidelines regarding adding categories. I answered his question - he seems a bit confused as to adding categories. There are just two questions - one is the subject matter in the article and two is it possible to add a couple of paragraphs to the article on the subject matter. If the answer is no to both, then you don't add the category. If the answer is yes to either question, then a category may be added. Yes, it is possible to add a couple of paragraphs to Lincoln on the Ukrainian community in Lincoln. So it may be added. The key word is "possible." Not a percentage of population or whether the content is in the article. If there wasn't a Ukrainian community, then no, the category should not have been added. As to whether anyone will add a couple of paragraphs, that isn't our responsibility. Unfortunately, the editor scared off a potential new editor who might have added content to Lincoln about the Ukrainian community. The matter of adding the category is done. Consensus ruled, the editor who was scared off & added the category and you said yes, the editor concerned with population percentages said no. I read the comments of the editor who inserted the category on the editor's talk page who removed the category. I asked for more comments (none) and waited the time period before closing the discussion. Two in favor, one in dissent. Done. Always ignore the trolls. Sorry this happened over such a silly issue such as a category being added. I am unhappy the editor who inserted the category was scared off by the percentages editor, we should encourage new editors & not bite them. Keep on the great work on Lincoln! You are needed! Gmcbjames (talk) 06:57, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Gmcbjames: Truthfully, I haven't been that much active on Wikipedia over the last few years myself... life (kids are getting older - busy with that), pandemic (life on hold), GA status (periodic upkeep) - a lot of thing have figured into it ;p . Come back a couple of months ago just to check on things and found a GA being slash edited -- threw my mind. Now I know we all have our flaws and I am no exception... but one exception I have with the one editor in question (I'll keep it to one) is the slash editing that the one editor does - everything is very black and white. No source? Bad - mass delete. Disagree with the contents? Bad - mass delete. Don't like something due to some arbitrary whatevers that are interpreted to be a certain way without consensus? Bad - mass delete. It's one thing to help keep Wikipedia clean by deleting what may be bad-faith editing or vandalism, but it's another to delete what may be good encyclopedic content after hard work by other editors, without helping to fix what is wrong or mentor other (/new) editors on how to fix it themselves. Sure, it's an editing style like I've been told, but I personally think it's not-so-great and demoralizing. Straight-out deleting does not necessarily improve everything.
...and honestly I don't know how this one editor does it, but when an edit is made, the editor in question is on top of that edit almost instantly. I gave Lincoln a break for a month, hoping that it would drop off of the one editor's radar, but now I fear that the editor is laser focused on it. It almost seems like to me that the editor either doesn't like to be on the loosing side of a debate, or does not like to be wrong -- either/or. I also get the sense that the editor in question can at times be retributive, when the stick and carrot method does not work.
I'll be out tomorrow, so if there are anymore fireworks (which I hope there are not), I won't be around... will probably catch up tomorrow night if anything happens. To my mind though, this one editor eventually needs to be called out on all these mass deletions everywhere -- be told to slow down or something, but I don't think it's possible. We'll have to watch Lincoln closely. I really can't believe that we now have to go up against an editor who may think (assuming good faith here) that he or she is the gatekeeper to many Wikipedia articles that knowledge may be thin on and especially on a GA article...
...actually, this whole episode makes me regret coming back at the moment -- I absolutely hate drama and don't need to waste anymore time on it. We should all be free to edit on Wikipedia (at least those who are autoconfirmed and so on) without someone constantly looking over our shoulder. I really don't know what to do or how to approach this one editor. I may just go dark after this... not a threat, but really, such drama is just not needed in life right now.
I did add a placeholder reference in the article for the time being. I guess we'll see what happens to that here soon, if anything...
...and in other lighter news, the pandemic has allowed me to rethink my life and after it (hopefully - the pandemic) quiets down, I'm going into photography as a new career -- pretty happy about it :) ... so there's that, I guess ;) . Nebraska landscapes and whatnot.....
Anywho, please stay well, my friend and I may catch up with you late tomorrow ^_^ . Cheers ^^ !!! Hanyou23 (talk) 08:54, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Hanyou23:I do think it is best to keep a lookout on Lincoln. I will. The editor in question has many problems and frankly I agree most of their edits are on the side of deconstruction. This is a lazy editors style as it is always easier to delete than add. I noticed all articles created by said editor are stubs or starts - seems they do not have the desire to build an encyclopedia. I also noticed most editors who disagree with them (using gender neutral terms here) go red - which means they have left. That is truly sad. There are quite a few editors like them. At first they build -- then find it more pleasurable to destroy. Very sad. Best to avoid them - usually over time they cross the wrong editor who has the time & ability to confront them. As for us - we just build and do our best to add to articles with open arms to new editors. Have fun with your kids, time is going by so very fast. And I am so happy to hear you will be a professional photographer - that is a world of itself! Be well, keep healthy!! Gmcbjames (talk) 18:41, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lincoln, NE 2020 Census sources

[edit]

Hello my friend @Gmcbjames:! I've been trying to do this for at least a couple of hours now and it's driving my up a tree. The Census Bureau has kindly changed servers for most of their data and I'm having a heck of a time trying to properly cite the data. For example, this old url:...

https://www2.census.gov/geo/docs/maps-data/data/gazetteer/2019_Gazetteer/2019_gaz_place_31.txt

...can be simply changed to this url:...

https://www2.census.gov/geo/docs/maps-data/data/gazetteer/2021_Gazetteer/2021_gaz_place_31.txt

...and voila!... insta-updated data ;p ! This one is still alive and well:...

http://www2.census.gov/geo/docs/reference/ua/ua_list_all.txt

...however, the rest is tough. These links are dead:...

https://factfinder.census.gov/bkmk/table/1.0/en/PEP/2018/GCTPEPANNR.US41PR
https://factfinder.census.gov/bkmk/table/1.0/en/PEP/2018/GCTPEPANNR.US23PR

...and trying to find the data on their new website -- https://data.census.gov , is maddening ;o . Now there is this website:

https://www.census.gov/library/visualizations/interactive/2020-population-and-housing-state-data.html

...and to a degree, this (not great):...

https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.2020.html

...but what I really need are tables, in order to reference properly :/ . I even see that on both the CSA and MSA pages on WP, one references the second to last link above, while the other lists a website out of Germany for reference. Seems like they are having as much trouble as I am ;o .

Mind giving an ol' pal a hand and see what you might be able to dig up - maybe - please :) ?

Hope you are healthy 'n well and happy end to the year - almost ^^ !!!  :) Hanyou23 (talk) 06:17, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hanyou23 @Hanyou23:! I wouldn't worry about adding the 2020 Census, this is automatically done by bot. Once the Census is added by the bot, then you can delete the 2010 Census on the page - it is out-of-date and unnecessary clutter. Unfortunately the bot doesn't remove previous census data - which would be nice as the old census date clutters so many pages as no one removes them. Only the current one is needed. Keep a watch on the page for the change by the bot and then remove the 2010 Census. Thank you for keeping an eye on the page! Gmcbjames (talk) 19:39, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Gmcbjames: :) . I'm not sure when that's going to happen, to be honest ;o . Editors were already preemptively changing things and I did notice that there were some other changes, so maybe it already happened? Don't think so, but also not sure ;p ... so I preemptively changed things, so that no one else fumbled up the numbers ;p (already was happening). I like having those citations there so that when the estimates come out, I know where to look each year. With the 2020 Census, it may not be much of a worry... but when it comes to the 2021 numbers -- just in a matter of months now, it may be a whole different story ;o . Perhaps it can wait until then, but I'm also hoping that the bad citations don't get pointed out by others, if you know what I mean ;p . Cheers ^_^ ! Lancaster County flag

[edit]

Hey @Gmcbjames:! Thanks much for your comment over on the Lincoln talk page ^^ !

Have a quick question/favor to ask, please :) . If you would, could you please have a look at the image licensing on this page here?:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Lancaster_County,_Nebraska,_USA.gif

...the licensing doesn't quite seem right, as it refers to seals ;o . I've seen that at one time, the flag on Wikimedia Commons was deleted (I think uploaded by someone else -- it was deleted back in 2014 ;o )... they didn't take the Fair Use part of it apparently, so I uploaded this one to Wikipedia. Not totally/really sure if the license is right, though ;o .....

Anywho, hope you are well and please take care ^_^ !!!  :) Hanyou23 (talk) 20:57, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hanyou23:, I think it is a stretch as a seal, the flag image may be deleted. Gmcbjames (talk) 01:50, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gmcbjames: -- Hmmm, I believe that's how the old Lincoln flag got uploaded many years ago though... and then someone transferred it Wikimedia Commons, with reasoning or something. Hanyou23 (talk) 02:01, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hanyou23: - Good, then it should be fine. Hopefully someone will transfer the image to Commons. I'm very rusty at Commons, though I have uploaded many images. The flag should be fine. Gmcbjames (talk) 21:01, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
