What changes in the Hazlet article?

[edit]

What change was made in this edit for Hazlet, New Jersey? The edit summary says "updated year", but what was changed? Alansohn (talk) 03:15, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh it was just an update on the mayor's year, it said it ended 2018 but i checked the township's website and it said it expires 2019. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hij802 (talkcontribs)

  • Got it. The Visual Editor weirdly rearranges the parameters in the infobox, so that made it hard to tell. Thanks for the reply. Remember to type four tildes (~~~~) to "sign" your responses. Alansohn (talk) 04:13, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah i noticed that when i went back to check it. And yeah I forgot, im still fairly new to editing, so theres still a lot of things i dont know how to do yet orsometimes forget about. Thanks though! Hij802 (talk) 05:35, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 101 Hudson Street, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Newport Tower (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Non-free foto

[edit]

Thanks for you foto of Water's Soul. Thing is, it's "non-free", and as such will likely come up for deletion soon. You might want to upload directly to Wikipedia (not Commons) where fotos of art works can be loaded if there's a rationale for doing so:

But it’s a photo that I’ve taken myself? Hij802 (talk) 07:08, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia can't be used as a reference

[edit]

In your edit of 09:02, 27 September 2019 (UTC) of North Jersey, you introduced this markup:

  • <ref>{{Citation|title=List of municipalities in New Jersey|date=2019-09-20|url=https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=List_of_municipalities_in_New_Jersey&oldid=916774768|work=Wikipedia|language=en|access-date=2019-09-27}}</ref>
  • <ref>{{Citation|title=List of counties in New Jersey|date=2019-09-20|url=https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=List_of_counties_in_New_Jersey&oldid=916764029|work=Wikipedia|language=en|access-date=2019-09-27}}</ref>

These references remained until just now when I removed them. Wikipedia cannot be used as a reference in Wikipedia. —Anomalocaris (talk) 07:49, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hudson County

[edit]

Hi. I have reverted your edit to Hudson County, New Jersey. I know you don't edit here that often, but since you've been doing so since 2019, other editors have reached out to you here regarding the need for sources. Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, as detailed here. If you ever have any other questions or need help, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. Control copyright icon Hello Hij802! Your additions to Linear city (Graves and Eisenman design) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:06, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Union NJ Municipal Building July 2024.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Union NJ Municipal Building July 2024.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
